Let's be fair: Maze runner has te best cast ever. Everybody in the movie fits so perfectly with the character, but Thomas Sangster was the best choice ever. He is a such underrated actor, and deserves so much more.

I remember you, I remember you first coming up in the box just a scared little greenie, who couldn’t even remember his own name but from the moment you ran into the maze I knew I would follow you anywhere and I have. Honestly, Teresa should of been his sister and Newt his boyfriend. It would of had a much better impact when Thomas looses both of them. And it would make more sense as to why Thomas was so attached to Teresa cause he barely new her.

rereading the maze runner books to be in the feels and mindset for crank palace, and i just finished the death cure :( somehow, someway, i wish it could’ve been anyone else but newt… i hoped beyond hope that the ivy trio would make it out together (especially newt, my favorite character 😭) and it felt incomplete when thomas, minho, and the others went back into the maze one last time without newt there. but i like to think he’s at peace now, with alby, chuck, teresa, and the other gladers, smiling and watching over their friends in the paradise ❤️
I was happy if the girl died since I don't find her interesting and while I don't like Theresa she's there only to replace her and since Thomas was disappointed/betrayed by her he was emotionally weakened so the love thing is also caused by the fact that he's hurt by Theresa betrayal, if he didn't ended up with someone it would have been better and if she died instead of Newt it would have been even better so I think that at least for me that was a two birds with a stone situation and that it would have been better if it happened in my opinion.

Just imagine having friend like Newt...or Thomas or every single guy character in this story.
Its far worse from the books, they even made an entire book about Newt's tragic destiny, the story is really different from the movie except for the Maze part. Newt was getting even more mad every hours, not immuned, he was forced to stay in what they call a Berg ( its like a helicopter) because he couldnt enter in the securised city ( because he was sick ) so he left the Berg and after a few adventures he got captured and send with a girl and her child to a Hotel for people like him, when Thomas and the others came back he was too mad and wouldnt let them take him with them, so they left, he had only one reason to live, he wanted to help the girl to find her second child and then he will accept to die, later that, he left the girl after kissing her, he wanted to be alone now, but suddenly, Thomas appeared out of a truck with some people, Thomas came out to convice Newt again to come with them, but Newt was becoming like a fkin zombie and told Thomas to kill him, so he shot Newt in the head, and quickly left to end this whole bullshit, Thomas was devastated, he lost his best friend, but knew that it was better like that, Newt would've suffered too much, it was enough, later after that, when they were all escaping the WICKED HQ, with hundreds of other immunes, Teresa died, saving Thomas from getting crushed, once they escaped, they got into a place where they could restart the human race, with all the immunes, but unlikely the movies, it doesnt end actually here, the following is 73 years laters with some kids, at the same place, I actually didnt read that book yet so idk whats rlly going on but they all see Thomas and his friends like some legendary heroes from the past, sadly there still wasnt a cure and thats the whole point of the book, I spoiled myself at the end but they find out that the cure somehow is Newt, I cant understand the meaning of that since I didnt read the book and since Newt died decades ago but theres prob something really interesting, the books are very interesting cause the whole story is different except for some details and the Maze part like I said. The story is actually more interesting and Newt's death is really not just something where he dies, even decades later there is something with him and unlikely Newt thought that his friends where the important people because they were immuned and not him, he was actually one of the most interesting and useful characters, while Thomas actually didnt find a cure and just died 50 years later, theres a lot to say about the books because theres like I said a whole more details and a complete different storytelling so my comment is a bit long but I recommand you to take a look at the books from James Dashner, dont forget that most movies actually came from books. And thanks for the brave people that actually read my comment ❤
