My Journey to the Wakhan Corridor Pt. 2: Hitchhiking and Wading Through Rivers to Sarhad 🇦🇫

  • I firmly believe that no journey to the Wakhan Corridor can be made easy. That is one of the main things that attracted me to this area. The ruggedness, the remoteness, the complete lack of development. Even if I were to had acquired a better vehicle to take me all the way to Sarhad, the drive would have been treacherous. The mandatory river crossings were difficult enough by car, but became down right scary crossing them by feet with a full pack on. Luckily, the incredibly hospitable people of the Wakhan helped me cross a few with their animals and with their own backs. By the time I made it to Sarhad I was exhausted, and quickly became sick by nightfall and into the next morning. Stay tuned for the next episode as I venture over a 14,000 ft. pass with a gnarly illness. Don't forget to subscribe to my channel and feel free to leave a comment letting me know your thoughts. Thank you for watching my journey through this very misunderstood part of the world.

Interesting to read in the comments you were starting to get sick. During that last scene of you getting ready for the bath, I was thinking "He looks like this may be taking a toll on him". haha! The people you met there seem so hospitable. So great to see the average people in a country that the news would never show.

And that's why I went there! Growing up in America I only see the worst sides of countries on tv, especially Afghanistan. I am so grateful to have had this experience. Not only did I feel completely safe but the hospitality from the local people was amazing!

I didn't feel any fear or anxiety while in Afghanistan. I have felt a lot more danger and sense of fear back home during everyday life in the United States than at any point during my two weeks in the Wakhan.
