Higher Than Everest - 24 Hours Alone On The Farthest Mountain From The Center Of The Earth 🇪🇨
Perhaps my greatest and most rewarding adventure in all of Ecuador, my solo journey to Chimborazo was not as hard as I thought it would be. Unlike most of my backpacking trips, everything just seemed to go right this time around. After a direct bus to the entrance of Chimborazo's National Park from its closest city for less than $3, I was granted permission at no cost to camp at the base of Ecuador's highest volcano with no hassle. As if everything wasn't already going perfectly, the first car that passed me on the road up the mountain scooped me up and out of the chilly alpine wind. A mix of pure solitude in nature and local interactions calls for the perfect adventure in any foreign country. If you're not a climber but still want to get up close and personal with Chimborazo, follow me for an extremely cost-effective way to explore the red scree slopes of Earth's tallest mountain all by yourself! 🇪🇨

It's so great following your travels in Ecuador! I'm retiring there in July and made a discovery trip last June. I stayed like a local, avoiding high-end resorts.
