Oh my goodness you’re kidding me. I stopped using this years ago because the fees were ridiculous! Now it’s free! What’s next? Poser? Character Creator and iClone?
This software is really a boon for artists and it creates really amazing results. Also remember we are getting the Plant factory which is an amazing plant creation tool. All these can be exported to unreal as well. Only thing is you cannot sell any of these models.
@@UnknownDino Yes you can. Only thing you cannot sell are models from plant catalog which is kinda obvious. But you can totally create any plant in PlantFactory and sell it
Thank you very much for this. I've got Unreal Engine set up on my machine, and am planning to learn how to do some of this stuff. This will be invaluable. I would never have known I could download these for free if I hadn't seen this video. I also really appreciate the basic overview.
This is nothing short of amazing. Vue is something I have always pined after but could never justify the cost. I wonder though if this means the end of development for Vue. I am also really curious about why they made this move; purchasing E-on out and then just giving it away. Doesn't make sense unless there is something else behind it that we don't know. Who knows? I'm just glad to have it.
Because the software is outdated and no one needs it anymore. You can do landscape generation with most software today at a higher level of flexibility and quality.
could i use this to generate things to use in unity or is it mainly for intensely rendered animations? could I create equirectangular panoramic HDRis from the renders?
Ya I started with Bryce back in the late 80's LOL, and True-space was also cool hahaha Ya Vue was a real hog for sure took forever to render hehehe. bought the E-ON Vue along long time ago and now it's free hahaha
Man, I loved BRYCE 3D.... I too moved to TrueSpace... But VUE took the world by storm. I was creating VAST terrains with full vegitation well, until the computer couldn't handle it. VUE with complex terrains can kill a PC BUt, I loved the moment I cherrished with it. and now iTS FREE!!!! absolutely incerdible. ( I did pay for my license back in the day ) Free is good.
SpeedTree is likely better. They are both really powerful though. One huge difference is that SpeedTree natively supports the integration of photogrammetry.
According to one of the devs they had planned a linux version a few years back. Got 90% of the way there and scrapped it for reasons unknown. So once again we are out of luck.
Blender has always been free and ever since version 2.8 it has become very user friendly too so I don't think it will be a very big thing since blender has also gained a lot of popularity too
Yes, this was available way before Nanite and other world building tools came to U.E - and still has better terrain and world building features compared to UE at least for now.
Every company with integrity should do this. If you have a product that you are abandoning - don't just sit on it forever. Give it to the people.
Even better turn it into an open source project so that the community keep it Alive .
@@Xx-Anwar-xX they can't they are using the code somewhere else.
ppl will make it better than it ever was
Agreed.
I’d love to see Autodesk do that with Softimage and NVIDIA with MentalRay. But you know, competition…

This rminds me of BRYCE 3D 20 years ago.
Thumbs up for the Bryce 3D reference. 👍👍
Bryce is still available from DAZ, although it probably needs a scaleable interface update for modern screens.
Try 30 years :)
And Terragen

Totally excited about this! I played with Vue D'esprit 2 I think, back in the 90s, but haven't used it since due to the price.
Saw the Bentley announcement over the weekend and pulled down Vue & PF :D So excited to dive back in! Vue was always a favorite
Ah....Did you show the finished render?
I remember using vue back in the day incredible fast. Now all free ill check the plants set, thanks!!!
Amazing I used this from version 6 and had a license for VUE 7. Can't wait to do some cool stuff with this again.
brings back some memories of the Far Cry 3 Map creator
That thing was 🔥🔥
I had a lot of fun creating big hills and putting gliders on top
I had a license to Vue quite a few years ago - gave up because of the ongoing costs - and I can see that its complexity hasn't changed.
as someone who does surveying with bentley I usually despise their software but this is pretty cool
If only Bob Ross could see this.
He would paint the UA-cam screen on a canvas
Yo usé VUE en 2016... Una bestialidad de software para crear selvas.
That was amazing, thank you! Loved the outro too. 😍
Thanks for sharing this software to us 👏
Is there a Blender plug in? Does it work with blender?
This is all I want to know :)

Good question. I hope someone knows
There are some Realtime Plant Presets. you can also create LOD level and billboards. So yes its also build for game engines
Thank you, I enjoy watching your creation process evolving!

Never showed the final render😮
how did they even get an LLC to have the name Bentley?
probably a DBA under Bentley Systems
Also copyright takes into account areas of industry
LLC name is based on state. However, trademark is another thing.
Noob here... would you in theory build a landscape in VUE and then export it to UE5, then retexture/light/animate in UE5?
100% possible
Can it work with Blender ?
Yes .
@@TheAlbinobatmanperfect.
how will it work with blender?
What is the largest map Vue can make? For instance, can Vue create a terrain map of 50 kilometers?
Yea, it can.
Thank you for this overview! I'll be trying this today!!
tnx, I didn't know this, definitely using it
Wow.. amazing - thanks for the heads up!
great , whats the final moment sound track after you say bye?
Can we use this instead of UE5.4 for creating game environments? Because if this is lightweight compared to UE it would be a life saver!
Contrary to popular believes, this doesn’t cost that much to run.
4+GB to 8+ GB of VRAM and 8+ to 16+ GB of RAM should be enough to run this.
Is there addon that Vue can work with Blender?
Is there a plugin of Plant Factory for Unreal Engine 5?.
*Thank you for this helpful info. You've earned a Sub*
Wow! Amazing, thank you!
thank you for the update

I love this tool
Well, they just put Speed Tree out of business :P Thanks for letting us know about this!
Yea R.I.P to speedtree

Which is better? Speedtree or plantfactory? Ignoring prices and learning curves which produce better results and are easier to use?

Lol as a civil engineer and designer, Bentley MX had dropped of the radar in the industry years ago. Good to see them leading in something again
leading to the toilet. they bought this software and tried milking it with saas. never took off.
This is awesome!!
Is it any useful for game dev?
Which would I need, as in Mac non-arm or arm? I can't find the answer. Please help.
I figured it out, thanks.
How to export it to blender???
Does it mean they'll no longer develop it?
discontinued.
Stellar to the max. :)
Is it compatible with Blender?
I saw someone in the comments said yes
that takes me back, this is an oldie
Good and Decent
does it works with unity ??
You can export to Unity!
Does this work with Blender3D?
I haven't gotten to use it yet but I would assume so, all you have to do is export the terrain model and import to Blender.
👍👍👍 Excellent
Thank. You.
This is pretty hype
can you use the enviroment on blendeR?
The Bentley Continental GT is a dream car.
i don-t have those brushes for paint.
oh vue was neat!
Man as soon as I saw Bentley I thought fuck that! But this tool looks amazing! Much better than Microstation 😂
So I can use to to expert assets to blender i see.
Happy little trees.
It reminded me a little of Bryce 3D
Wish I could run Vue
