Shai this video is a blessing and a curse. I put youtube on, usually tcg vods, as noise to sleep to but my algorithm LOVES LOVES this video. Going through this video feels wild, Seeing a bunch of cards i had as a kid being either really amazing or absolutely horrible in the meta, now that i actually play the tcg as an adult, it feels really cool looking back at past metas and hearing about what the game has been, and what cards i had as a kid could've done wonders! Amazing video for sure!

Mewtwo EX was so opprossive it was ridicolous. X-Ball should've at least had one psychic in its cost. Double colorless energy being in the format made it a nightmare. People were often getting donked on turn 1 and Darkrai just made everything worse lol.
Yeah needed to be one psychic and it would of been okay! Hitting for weakness wasn't a great idea too 🤣 although with one psychic i the attack cost that might not of been such a issue maybe?
@@BurtsPTCG I think it would’ve been a force still but not nearly as bad. I played 3 in my Liligant deck at no cost. The double-colorless requirement was insane.

@BurtsPTCG I saw your Dialga VSTAR list on limitlesstcg and plan to change my own list accordingly, but I wanted to drop Metagross and another card for a 1-1 Bibarel line, since I will just be using it against friends who don't play Snorlax Stall. What other card would you suggest dropping, if any? (For the record, I also wouldn't go any lower than 3 Super Rod, so maybe that makes it harder.)

Don't think it was my list on limitless cause I didn't day 2 with it 🤣😭 but if you're looking to fit in bibarel and u don't mind cutting metagross I would probably cut eaither zam or 16th energy :)

Speaking of the sleep card, I would like to see more status cards get printed. Maybe something that induces sleep guaranteed and you draw 2. If the Pokémon is already asleep, ignore this effect and draw 4. Or something.

Zoroark GX was CRAZYY. To put it in perspective: throughout its standard lifespan there wasn’t a single tournament where at least 1 ZoroarkGX didn’t make top 8

I guess the meta from gen 4 was way different from back in the early days because drawing 2 cards was huge back then, almost every deck I knew used 4 Bill
Yeah very different! The main difference was later on bill being a supporter 😭
The Power Keepers Charizard feels like they forget its the EX Era and gave it Base Set era attacks

I love seeing some of my favorite cards (I collected for art but still knew the value of most cards growing up for play and collectors) being considered “overpowered” for a little while. The XY era was the best for me. I had a Shaymin Mega Ray deck that was so consistent stores started to not let me plat in tourneys. I miss Seeker and Mail. Also, Batte compressor was awesome.

33:30 Team Rocket Returns is such an insane set, so many cards could be honorable mentions. Pow! Hand Extension is a strictly better Counter Catcher. Swoop! Teleporter is Ninja Boy as an item. Dark Dragonite and Dark Electrode were the core of a Tier 1 deck. Pokémon Retriever is literally Rescue Stretcher. And the other Dark Tyranitar had the powerful Sand Damage PokéBody.
It really was! Might need to do a deep dive of thst format soon!

Chi-yu seeing play in snorlax stall suprised me ngl. I would personally say one of the 3 exs that haven't seen play at all now like coperajah, dedenne, or slowking.
The script for Paradox Rift was written just after laic 2024 so been caught out by that 😂😭
Misty Gyarados is not the worst card and is actually quite good because Broc Ninetales can transform into it removing the negative Pokemon power.

Great video! However I would like to point out that Misty's Gyarados is casuably playable with Brock's Ninetales. Worst card in the set for me is Minion of Team Rocket.

Dark vileplume Honorable mention should’ve included that it has to be the one that’s weak to fire.
Due to wotc ruling play as printed one dark vileplume was better than the other.

Gust of Wind not being mentioned as one of the strongest cards in Base Set is criminal. It's top 5 in the history of the game. Regardless, amazing video my man! :)
There's a reason for this! I really didn't want to cover identical cards. So between GOW and Pokemon catcher I decided to cover catcher since there were plenty of other amazing cards in base set :)

What do you think are the most broken mechanics of all time? IMO, my top 5, in order, are:
5. Abilities that re-use Supporters
4. VStar
3. SP
2. Pre-Neo Trainers
1. Tag Team GX (and it isn't close - how did this insanity make it through playtesting???)
Think i would swap vstar for vmax personally but the rest look about right!
I disagree. At least VMAX gave an extra prize. VStar felt to me like Mega or VMAX but without any drawback.
@arthurfleck4320 but they gave vstar powers and without them vmax pokemon would of run absolutely rampant
Honestly, I'd argue Porygon was the worst card in Base Set. Base Gastly at least had a resistance to Hitmonchan, no weakness or Retreat Cost, and Destiny Bond at least would make your opponent think twice about taking the knock-out on Gastly. Meanwhile, Porygon has the same amount of HP, a weakness to Fighting that makes it easy to knock out in one turn with either Hitmonchan or Machop, a Retreat Cost and attacks that only change the Defending Pokémon's Weakness or Porygon's Resistance.
As for Feraligatr being the worst in Neo Genesis, I'm surprised you didn't mention that there was another Feraligatr in the same set that was leagues better than the Berserk Pokémon Power one. The Downpour Pokémon Power Feraligatr was an absolute beast and incredible alternative to Rain Dance.

Why does TPC always alter mechanics when they bring them back?
V is functionally the same mechanic as EX, but they changed the name. VMax and Mega EX are also similar, except VMaxs give up an extra prize, while Mega EXs end your turn when you play them.
GX is functionally the same mechanic as ex, but with a name change. And then they changed it back to ex.
Radiant and Gold Star are functionally the same mechanic.
Shining Pokémon and Ace Specs kept the same mechanic names, but the mechanics themselves were altered. The Sun & Moon era Shinings weren't limited to 1 per deck like the Neo era Shinings were. And the Scarlet & Violet DLC era Ace Specs weren't limited only to Item cards like the Black & White 2 Era Ace Specs were.
Im not sure! They love making "new" mechanics 😂😭
Nice vid! Though the descriptions for worst cards is really lacking. Like too much energy. Does this mean that there are no Energy acceleration in the format that can support it (e.g. Fire-type Delta Species Rayquaza)?

@@BurtsPTCG Fair fair hahaha 😂 honestly I am interested at older sets since there's little documentation about older formats and their power. Like in Gen 3, even 5-energy attacks can be used with the help of energy acceleration.

Does battle Frontier work with Team Magma’s groudon? And if yes, is that something people did? Or were they already playing enough Team Magma Pokemon that they didn’t need it?
Battle frontier was only for Evolved pokemon! 🙏 I don't think groudons abilty came up too much cause it was easy to get the basics into play :)

Top card and definitely could of gotten an honorable mention but Zacian, marnie and Inteleon lines were too good 👀

Man i came back into pokemon tcg during the gardelade meta and it was oppressive. I refused to play it and was lucky to get top 4 a few times

Putting a gengar prime as the worst card is a one thing I never believed to see. You could have put lvl.x gengar on top of it to actually close out games with lost world. Not that it was the best thing ever, but the threat on already working gengar deck made it even better
