Where in Elstree was Labyrinth filmed?
In the film studios.
You ARE in BOREHAMWOOD not elstree mate , elstree is over the other side of the railway bridge.
UA-cam at its finest. Because of content like this. Superb. Thank you.
How depressing, a Tesco Express replacing the sound stages. Also I don’t quite buy that Stanley Kubrick was just in another room because he didn’t want to meet the producer from Japan. Any evidence? Or another wild Kubrick story?
Incorrect. The lift and apartment in A Clockwork Orange was filmed in the University of East London main campus.
I heard some time ago that the block of flats was near the film studios, and I'm inclined to believe the man on the video was correct.
@@Psmith-ek5hq I stand corrected. I got the Shining and A Clockwork Orange mixed up. The Stairwell of Alex's flats were filmed in a block in the UEL campus in Thamesmead. Not the Shining.
Where can the video be found of the Japanese presenter being shown around the Studio?
I have seen that video too.
It didn't occur to me that the relocation of Holby City to BBC Elstree gives the former ATV building it's second hospital incarnation, because it was, of course, the home of General Hospital from the early '70s.
such a good video and lovely history. Went there once to be in the audience for who wants to be a millioaire that was filmed there. amazing place
Thank you so much!
wimpy was always better than mcdonalds - i ate the wimpy egg half pounder and nothing before or after has beaten that burger, although my homemades come close
Was the cameraman a professional?
.....and they could have used a pop guard on the microphone as well
Compared to Hollywood Elstreet looks pretty low rent.
Incredible video
If excitable puppies could talk they’d sound like this woman. Oh, and the maze was a matte painting, not a model.
I am putting that "puppies" quote on my CV along with my good reviews!
I love this video so much so informative
I worked here as a projectionist from 1969 to 1974. Thing have changed quite a bit since those days. Roddy (Mac) Mclaughlin was the chief Projectionist at the time.
You'll read often about the beloved Lyon's Corner Houses which were a popular feature of many a British town. You might also hear talk of how they were cruelly wiped out by the arrival of the Wimpys and the Espresso bars, but actually, it was the Lyons group which brought the very first Wimpy franchises to the UK. You have not been charged for this call!
I remember sitting on the McDonald's opposite Elstree years ago waiting to be in the audience for who wants to be a millionaire and never knew its history
I would love to go on this tour. How do I contact the tour guide?
This was simply something I arranged for myself because I was doing a podcast series on The Shining. Howie had been a guest and then I decided to go visit! He generously gave me a personal tour. He is a historian of the studio.
Didnt think you can do tours at elstree.
I had Howie as a guest on my podcast and we became friendly. He's a wonderful guy.
