In this episode we start off on the River Tyne and show you a bit more of our award winning marina, before heading down to North Shields historic fish dock and lighthouses. The first mate also makes a spontaneous decision which lands us 300 miles across the North Sea checking out one of Europe's most cultural cities!
We started our adventure in summer when we made a life changing decision to leave our jobs, pack everything up and move aboard our 28ft boat! We set sail north, but were delayed by a series of issues. Now back on track, we are cruising the North East coast of England on our way up to Scotland! Join us as we share our experiences of sailing and living aboard our small boat.

As many sailors I am fascinated by the marina bathrooms as well, haha! So great to walk into a nice shower room after a rough passage! Great video guys!

Thanks glad you enjoyed it. We love arriving at new destinations and the first thing we do is go and check out the facilities! We had heard so many good things about Royal Quays and we weren't disappointed.

Great episodes, guys. 🍻 Thanks for taking me around my mothers birth country. Also Hartlepool. Look forward to more Vids. From Aus.

Thank you and glad you enjoy it. We are going to be showing more of the UK so stay tuned. So many UK sailing channels miss most of it out to rush to places like the Med, but we want to showcase it as there is so many nice places. We loved Hartlepool marina too and one of our favourite places was Sunderland! 😀

For the Q&A, could you talk a bit about your passage planning and how you follow the course whilst at sea - do you have a chartplotter, tablet, or use paper charts?

Looks like you had a great time in Amsterdam. The closest I've got to there is watching old episodes of Van Der Valk on DVD! Glad you're both enjoying the sunshine! x

Hope you are doing well, we had an amazing time in Amsterdam, would love to back there some day. An interesting fact for you... did you know our boat Takaza has sailed from Scarborough to Amsterdam 14 times now. Maybe me and Gav will do it one day! I noticed the dislike button was highlighted on your comment, if it was it was a mistake, we love getting comments from the Stevie G. We have really poor internet where we are staying, but the bars have amazingly fast wifi. We had to take the laptop on a night out to upload this video 🤣. Hope you and Julie are doing ok. xx

All good here thanks. Just coming to the end of 7 days off, then I'm back in for 2 and off for 5 more. 14 times?! That's a lot of sea miles! That would be a great sail to do. Glad you're both having a great time. I didn't notice the dislike button, so no problem. I'd have just assumed I'd told a rubbish joke again lol! I guess the disadvantage of fast WiFi in bars is that you can't sink many drinks whilst the video is uploading...it's so slow again...let's have another vino! xx

For the Q&A, with the cold weather in mind, where would you like to be moored up next winter?

Good question. I have made a note of it and will answer in the Q&A video. Thanks for watching and sending your question in.

Did you stay over in Amsterdam or just spend the day there? We love Amsterdam but is the most expensive place to stay on the planet :-)

We were only there for the day. The ferry arrives about 10am and leaves again at 5pm. Luckily there is so much food and drink on the ferry that we didn't need to spend much there. I bet a night out there would be amazing though!

@@gavin_and_james_sailing glad you fad a nice day, we have had some really good nights in Amsterdam. We are heading back in the summer on another canal boat. We did make the mistake of going at New Year once though, it was bloody freezing and covered in snow :-)
