*You Did Not Choose To Be Classified As Diabetic, But You Can Choose To Fight Back Against Diabetes* 💪
Thank you so much for this podcast....as a type 1 in the medical field and having my own weight struggle and blood sugar control this was very informative
Thanks - appreciate it. It's an ongoing struggle in one way or another for most of us.
This was very helpful and informative. I have type 1 diabetes and I used to be underweight (as a lot of us are when first diagnosed), but after being on insulin for a few years I have gained quite a lot. I am still within the "normal weight" on bmi, but I am worried about gaining more. I do exercise, I do eat mostly low carb options, and I walk at least 10 000 steps every day (often 15 000, sometimes 20 000+), and I feel very frustrated about it. I have diabetic fatigue, so I am exhausted all the time on workdays, and its hard to find energy to work out, so nowadays I only go swimming once - twice a week. Don't really know what to do anymore, and I am starting to really hate insulin. But its helpful to know that this is not abnormal at least.
You should really be thankful that you're not under weight anymore, and that you are a normal weight. From the patients I see, being under weight is the most stressful thing any of my patients go through, even more than those who need to lose weight. Sounds like you have a lot of things going on - I would see a good dietitian and speak to your doctor about being tired all the time.

I loved Symlin when I was on it years ago, and I just requested a new prescription from my Endo to put me back on it. I lost so much weight and blood sugar levels were very good with some basal rate tweaks.
It's a nice option if it works well for you.
How does it affect your basal?
@heatherrose6108 it causes you to lower your basal rates all the way throughout the day as well as your ICR because of your decrease in appetite. Your body will metabolize food as if you're not a T1D.
Been type 1 for over twenty years. Can’t get above 120 pounds. I lose 2-4 pounds every night, but also lose 1-2 pounds throughout the day. I eat 2-5 meals a day.
I don’t run, bicycle, or lift weights (bs drops too fast), but I do teach for 6-8 hours a day, standing mostly, and play drums every weekend and bass every night.
I think people who are under weight often have more stress than people who are overweight. You really should see a specialist in this area.
The small talk is overwhelmingly annoying.
Please put in timestamps so I can get the information I came looking for.
Thanks
