    I love the CF1600 in the surf. The 1200 is decent but seems like it prefers waves with a little more energy.
    This 1125 seems mental to pump! And I bet the speed is nice compared to some of these thicker wings.
    Best review I’ve ever seen. Actually using it.

      You look like you’re doing pretty well on it already! I heard a few reviews that it takes a little to dial in this wing so keen to see how things progress. This was actually my second wave, I nose dived the first. In fairness I’ve ridden a fair few high aspects so maybe easier for me than most guys who’ve only ridden Armstrong, but man is it a quick wing! Looks like you’ve got the right idea being out far in the ocean.

      @@OCEANBOUND1 I still cant even envision how much further this wing has to go, feels like it could unlock some wild stuff. I've only winged the 1250 which i thought had a high stall speed, but this thing is even more. I cant see it being much of a light wind wing, but downwinding it could be unreal... I should get my hands on that 1550 V2 soon so might try do a same style review. Would be interesting to compare to te 1125.

    What would be your favourite Foil Kit for flat water Jump/Pump/Glide? Great Video hope to see more reviews

    • @OskarJohansson1
      @OskarJohansson1  3 роки тому

      That’s a tricky question, depends on what level you’re at and weight as well. For pump and glide I would say the 1125 is my clear favourite now, however in flat water it depends how you are getting started. If you’re dock starting it might take a bit more to get going, but behind a boat it’s fine. As an all rounder that’s really easy for everything I would also say the 1850, especially if you’re a bit heavier. It’s a bit slower and less glide, but so much lift and ease of use. The better you get the more I’d lean towards the 1125, but wouldn’t go wrong with the 1850 to start with.

    Hey Oscar - love your vids! I’m currently riding an 1850 HS. My mates are riding high aspect GoFoils and they are going really fast and have a lot of glide. I’m thinking this 1125 HA could be in my next wing. Do you think an 1850 and 1125 is a good quiver? Originally I was going to get the 1550 V2 next but now I’m leaning toward this 1125…. Thanks!

    • @OskarJohansson1
      @OskarJohansson1  2 роки тому

      Hey Rob, cheers mate! How much do you weigh? I would say the 1850 and 1325 are fairly evenly matched in terms of lift and rider weight, but as you move to the HA you will get the benefits of the pump and glide. The 1125 is closer in size to the 1550 V2 for lift and rider weight. I tend to like having one surf wing, and then something with similar lift for pump/glide/downwinding, but that is all just personal preference :)

      @@robwolfbrandt7741 Ohh that's tough. Maybe the 1125 is a good place to start. It won't be as easy to get on foil as the 1850, but once it is up it will be so much quicker and glide forever.

    Hey oskar, could you explain to me why you set up the foil fully forward please... I'm new to this but most of the info I've got off UA-cam seems to say on small boards your more likely want the foil set up at the back of the board. Do you have the foil always fully forward or only when it's tiny? Thanks.
    Ace videos btw.

    • @OskarJohansson1
      @OskarJohansson1  2 роки тому +4

      Hey Lee! Moving the mast forward basically reduces the swing weight of the board, but this can be good or bad depending on the rider or setup. Having less swing weight allows the board to turn easier, becomes a little more wippy through turns. But not having that weight makes it more sensitive, particularly to pitch instability (nose up/down)... When you are learning there are other considerations as well. Basically you will always lie in the same position of the board when you're paddling/catching a wave so moving the mast back means you have more of your weight further forward and this counteracts the lift of the foil. This is great for learning and smooths out your take offs. As you progress move the mast forward to get more initial lift. Then as you progress even more playing with the mast position is purely about that swing weight and controlling pitch instability. There is no right or wrong place for the mast, its very personal to everyone and even the wing your ride. But as you learn, start with it back, and then experiment with moving it forward. I only ever ride with the mast fully forward with every board/wing I ride. Hope the makes sense
      Yiewww!

    • @OskarJohansson1
      @OskarJohansson1  3 роки тому +4

      Cheers mate!
      I actually build the tails my self. I buy 10mm thick G10 sheets and grind them with an angle grinder/file/sand paper to get to the final result. You also need a 6mm helicoil set to add the thread inserts. All up each tail I make costs about $25 AUD. This shape is a copy of a 13" KD Maui wing but thinned out a bit.

      Thanks man! Its a replica I made of the KD 13.5” tail. It’s a little thinner than his but exact same outline. I made it from black G10 which I think looks a little sexier than the standard green ;)

      @@greg.ocallaghan The bottom is flat, the top I know Kane places the thickest point at about 30% of the cord closest to the leading edge and then the thickness is 10% of the cord length. I moved my thickest point a little further back to maybe 35% and about 7% thickness of the cord length. His tails have quite a bit of lift for me so I went more for speed and glide. If you wanna make your own wings let me know if you're in AUS and I'll send you where I get the black G10.

Or just nuts on the other side of the bolt?
