- Having some fun foil surfing in the backwash at high tide while trying to dodge fishing lines. Scotty (@foilwizard) let me sample the Takuma LOL 1300 again and mine showed up the next day. Magic wing. More shennanigans on the gram @instakahi and @foilwizard.

Back in the late 70's, I built an OC1 from a Tahitian rudderless from Maire Nui CC and used to paddle in the "slosh" in this video. Now, I can see how it was formed. Thanks for bringing back memories of my youth. Man, Foiling is so graceful!, and love the music.

Nice ride. Noticed you were riding the Takuma LOLs. Had a question if you don't mind: I recently downsized my SUP foilboard to a 5'0", 75L Naish Carbon ultra SUP/Winging board. It's a lot lighter than my 5'2 95L board I've been riding. I have the Takuma 1900 and 1600. On the 1900, I feel like I'm having to jam both my feet up towards the front of the board to pump and keep the wing down. My foil is all the way in the back of the track; I'm also flying the bigger rear stab.
On your surf foilboard, does it feel the same way, or are you flying the 1600 and it's perfectly dialed in? Thanks!
Lots of people are shimming the takuma, both on the rear wing and under the mast. You could try that and you could also consider going down to the 1300. The Takuma has a ton of lift.
@@kahipacarro2004 Ah didn't even think to do this. Yeah, I can't seem to flatwater pump the 1600 up enough, so I may be forced to do as you mentioned on the rear wing w/ the 1900. The difference between my Naish 5'0 and the Blue Planet 5'2 is night and day in weight distribution. I can immediately pump/paddle the 5'2 up onto the 1900 in 3 strokes, but the board weighs a good 10 lbs heavier w/ 20 extra liters. Been trying to squeeze the Surf foil-like performance out of the Naish on these wings. Thanks for the suggestions
If you're trying to pump start, be sure your board is all carbon so you don't lose any energy to board flex. In addition, get the lightest and smallest board your skill can muster. I've found that local shapers can provide more customization for my needs but if you can find a pop out that works, then great! Takuma has some.
@@KahiPacarro Nah I'm flatwater starting on SUP foilboards. Been able to do it in 3 strokes/pumps w/ the 5'2" because the extra 20L is concentrated directly over the mast. This Naish board is super light, but the weight is so little, it doesn't provide that momentum downward over the mast. When I finally do get it up, the 1900 has so much lift, I'm having to put both of my feet on the front of the board to pump it and keep the wing down in flatwater. Will attempt the shimming idea
@@benleaf6085 get the Kujira. It's got even more lift and is more like a High Aspect, kinda a mid aspect.
