That's because it's one of the only Alastor dubber who actually change his tone to a "real" treatening one whenever Alastor is starting to get angry. In that regard, French and Japanese usually are the one where the contrast is the more significant. For the same reason, Fr Alastor final lines in "Stayed Gone" are also one that usually come around the top of list of people liking in the comments.
Yeah, for some reason a lot of them didn't seem to have the voice effect. The Franch, French one was really good. The Canadian French was good at the normal talking but didn't have the power behind the threatening part.
Translation of the Japanese dub 9:03 Srry, it’s not perfect. Husk: Hey Boss, can I have a moment? Alastor: (ViVi) What is it? Husk: Mimzy only appears when there’s trouble. She’s a troublesome woman. Who did she anger to come to you? Alastor: Who do you think I am? Don’t worry, Husk. No one can cross me~. Husk: You were gone for a while. And no one knows why. Alastor: No one needs to know~. You don’t have to worry with that fluffy head. Husk: I gave you my soul, but I’m not your pet. Alastor: Yes~, you are a pet. Nyaha! Husk: Big talk for you, you are also on leash. Alastor: Ha! What did you just say? Husk: Uh, nothing. Alastor: If you say that one more time, I will ripped every inch of your soul and broadcast those screams for those discourteous people who stick their nose into my business! Husk: Got it. Alastor: Good. Nyaha! Glad to talk with you! Chatting is always fun. The scary part of the Japanese Alastor is that Alastor usually uses “Keigo” a polite Japanese. People often uses when they’re talking to supervisor, like in work or school. Alastor only uses because he’s polite though. But in this scene, his polite language came off which makes him much scarier. Not in this scene but there’s also a scene where his first person pronounces changes.
My favorite dubs are the Japanese and France French, especially during the part where Alastor threatens Husk. In the Japanese dub, Alastor sounds really cool with the demonic voice they gave to him and in the France French dub, he sounds THE MOST TERRIFYING out of all the other languages!

The whisper that comes from the snarl and fear of the beast at the end of the husk, and the gap in the voice of Alastor who flip-flopped after stepping on a landmine from nyaha☆ are wonderful to use. Or I will tear your soul apart and air your screams as a warning to every other disrespectful asshole who dares to doubt me! Tell me you understand! Understood... Adorable... Ha-ha! Nice chat, old pal! It's always nice to discuss! P.S.: In the Italian adaptation, Alastor is slightly more inclined to swear than in the original version...
I love how in the Italian version, by Husk saying “ for someone who is on a leash as much as me,” it makes it sound like he’s saying Alastor isn’t on such a high ranking, or at least no more than Husk. It shows a lot more of Husks wit and boldness. It also adds to the tension between them and shows slight resentment. It’s fucking scary.
And here's a fun fact about Alastor's Italian dub actor: he is famous for voicing Donkey in the Italian dub of Shrek so yeah, in the Italian dub Alastor is basically evil Donkey.
Lol ive been watching the japanese dub of HH and just noticed here that when husk asks to speak to alastor, alastor reacts to him by verbally saying "bibi?" Which is the otomatopoeia for an electronic sound. X'D
I especially love how in the French dub Alastor’s voice got really soft at “what did you say” before going full blown mad man. It makes it even creepier
I love the mocking tone more acebttuated in portuguese VA. The threatening tone was good too. My favorites where: Original (of course), Portuguese, French and Japanese.
I rewatched all of Hazbin in France French (I took French in school so I know enough of the language, plus watched it in English first, to get by and understand the gist) and I honestly prefer French Alastor. His voice actor is named Maxime Hoareau and not only did he absolutely kill this scene, but every song is so packed with character and creep factor and I find his take on Alastor more threatening than the original. He's a brilliant voice actor.
Husk sounds hot in every dub, but my personal favorites are German and Japanese. Alastor in French is *_terrifying_* I'm pretty sure that the voice actor had very much fun
Some small nuances I wanna point out because I love seeing how translations change the wording: - in the France French dub, when alastor asks “what did you say” he says “q’est-ce que tu vien dire?” Which I think sounds slightly more menacing than the Canadian French’s “q’est-ce que t’a dit?”. The Canadian French one translates directly to “what did you say?” Or maybe even “what’d you say?” But the France French one translates literally to “what have you come to say?” But which sounds more like “what did you just endeavour to say to me?” Or “what did you just dare say to me?” Or even “the f*ck did you just say to me?” I noticed a lot of the translations opted for a generic “what did you say?” Which I think lacks a bit of oomph on its own without a more menacing sounding tone of voice. The France French va managed to add that menacing tone along with the more menacing sounding words which I think works so great. - in the Japanese dub, they also managed to capture the threatening aura of alastor asking “what did you say.” I noticed he always speaks with polite language, using -desu and -masu as you’re supposed to. I think this fits his character well, as he gives off the vibe of someone who presents himself politely and doesn’t swear much, in contrast to the other characters. But when he says “what did you say” he goes “ima nante itta” (今何て言った) which not only drops the polite speech and switches to casual, but it’s a very rough or rude sounding casual speech. He isn’t asking, he’s demanding. The rest of his threats are also in casual/direct/rude sounding speech if I’m able to make it out correctly (my Japanese isn’t perfect) and he doesn’t switch back to polite form until the jolly music resumes. It makes total sense for his character to drop the polite speech when he brings out his more threatening form, and it just adds a bit of nuance to his character in the Japanese dub I think!
Something to add about the Japanese dub that I think is a really cool detail is that just like in English, Vox and Alastor mirror each other in their respective scenes (ep. 2 and ep. 5 respectively). In English they both say “What did you say?” In Japanese, they both say “ima nante itta?”
Another thing because I just remembered this thread existed again! When Alastor is in his demon form, he switches to the I-pronoun 俺 / おれ (like in this scene or the end of Stayed Gone), which is MUCH more masculine and harsher than his usual keigo and私 / わたし style of speech!
German [Charlie] The momentum(?) isn't working as fast as I'd thought, but I believe we can get the attempts at convincing them off the ground again... [Husk] Hey, Boss. [Alastor] HUH? [Husk] Do you got a bit of time? [Alastor] What is wrong? [Husk] We both know that Mimsy only shows up when she needs something. The bitch means trouble, and again she's come to you. Whose leg did she piss on this time? [Alastor] That's nothing which I can't do away with. ("womit" is somewhat formal iirc) Don't worry at all, Husker! No one in their right mind would take me on. [Husk] Could be...(cat noise) You've been gone a while already. But nobody out there knows why. [Alastor] No one _needs_ to know! And don't break your fuzzy head about it. [Husk] Maybe my soul does belong to you, but I'm not your fucking housepet. [Alastor] Heehee! On the contrary, you are! ("doch" can be used just to disagree like this) _lacht auf Deutsch_ [Husk] Big words for someone who's also hanging on a leash. [Alastor] Aha... _What_ did you say? (I really love his delivery of this) [Husk] Fuck- nothing, I- [Alastor] (begins rolling his r's) Should you speak (lit. "raise/wield the word") against me one more time, I will break your soul into _pieces_ ("zerfetzen" is just a very intense word for break/shatter; he emphasizes it when he pulls the chain) and broadcast your screams on the radio...so that every other respectless wretch who dares to stand against(?) me hears them. [Husk] Already understood. [Alastor] _Wonderful._ Good talk, my good man! It is always so lovely to bandy. ("sich austauschen" means to exchange or compare something, in this case words)
The fact that Alastor canonically speaks French makes sense why he sounds so good in the dub Edit: I also feel like the Latin Spanish was HEAVILY underrated, I feel like it’s one of my favorites along with the French and Japanese dubs
Fun fact: Husk's Brazilian VA already voiced another cat done by Keith David, the cat from Coraline. And I think people should talk more about his voice, it fits very well, it's my favorite voice from this dub
Hello guys french here, i'm kinda proud that the french VA of Alastor is loved by you, i must admit it was impressive when i first watch it, if you wondering why he's so scary, remember, french people
I love how they adapted the dialogue to spanish from Spain. Isn't a word for word translation but more a "A person from Spain will say this same, this way". The translation of this is like this: Husk: Hey, boss, can we talk? Alastor: What's happening? Husk: We both know Mimzy only shows up when she wants something. She always brings trouble. Who knows to what demon she was touching the balls ('Tocar las pelotas' touch the balls is a spanish way of saying: screwing around or bother) that broad. Alastor: Nothing I can't manage, don't worry, Husker. Who, being sane, will go againts me? Husk: Well, you left for a time and nobody knows why. Alastor: And they don't need to know. C'mon, don't think about with that fuzzy head of yours. Husk: My soul's yours but I'm not your fucking pet! Alastor: Yes, you are. Husk: You talk a lot but you also wear a leash. Alastor: Ha, ha, what did you said? Husk: Fuck, nothing! Alastor: If you say something similar to that again, I will tear your soul in two and I'll broadcast your howlings so every wretched ones like you that dare to question me could listen to them Husk: Understand Alastor: Fabulous! Haha, So happy to talk to you! Thanks for catching up!
Agreed! I think a lot of the ones I was able to understand did a great job adapting the translation to what someone would naturally say in that language rather that doing a literal translation. It makes the conversations flow so well
What I love the most about the italian version is that Husk doesn't just say "also on a leash". He literally says *"Big talk for someone who's on a leash as much as I am",* which not only hints at the fact that Alastor is bound to a contract, but implies that whatever contract that is, it's screwing him over.
im impressed that German alastor isnt even mentioned as contender for most threatening voice. although, i mut agree. only this one time, i will admit that french sounds good.
French is by far the most terrifying as has been echoed several times in these comments, although does anybody else feel an earie coldness in the German version? Like one of his words being accented right when he tightened the chains, and just the way he goes, "Wunderbar," just gives me chills
Timestamps for me 😊 "Understood", "Lovely" 1:03 - English 2:11 - German 3:20 - Italian 4:28 - Latin Spanish 5:34 - Spain Spanish 6:40 - Canadian French 7:47 - France French 8:54 - Hindi 10:01 - Japanese 11:10 - Brazilian Portuguese 12:16 - Thai 13:24 - Turkish
English is my favorite and has Alastors creepy voice well. But out of the others, French is the best and alastors voice is frickin terrifying, his voice sounds scarier than in English
Hindi Translation (the best I could do; my family is actually Gujarati): Husk: Can I talk with you? Alastor: Tell me, what is it? Husk: We both know that Mimsy only comes when she needs something. She’s very lazy. Who knows if she “pointed fingers” (got into an argument) with another “Shetan” (Muslim Satan) and has come to you for help. Alastor: Whatever it is, I’ll sort it out! Don’t you worry, Husker. Who would dare mess with me? Busker: Yes, but - those are old matters. You did disappear for quite a while. Alastor: That is none of anyone’s concerns. No-one can do anything, understand, garden cat? Husk: You may have bought my soul, but I am not your useless kutta (can mean dog, but also is a swear similar to b*tch). Alastor: That is what you are! Husk: Why are you barking when you are yourself a dog? Alastor: What did you say? Husk: Nothing! I - umm… Alastor: From now on, if you say something like that, I will tear your soul into shreds and broadcast your screams on radio (broadcast sounds way less intimidating in Hindi) so that no-one can even *think* of being so rude/insolent/stubborn (out of context, probably rude). Husk: Understood Alastor: Well done!
I love these videos! The best is Italian Angel Dust and French Alastor, but Japanese Niffty is like animals gold. The international perspective is the best.
Translation of the German dub: Husk: Hey, boss? Do you have a little time? Alastor: What is up? Husk: We both know that Mimzy only shows up when she needs something. The bitch means trouble and again she's coming to you! Whose leg did she piss on this time Alastor: That is nothing I can't deal with, just don't worry, Husker, nobody who's in their right mind challenges me Husk: May be.. You're already gone for a while, but no one out there knows why Alastor: Nobody needs to know either and don't break your fluffy head about it Husk: You may own my soul, but I'm not your shit pet! Alastor: Yes you are~ Husk: Big words for someone who also hangs on the leash Alastor: What did you say? Husk: (Fuck!) Nothing! I uh- Alastor: Should you speak up against me one more time I will shred your soul and broadcast your screams on the radio so that every other disrespectful wretch that dares to question me hears them! Husk: Already understood Alastor: Wonderful. Good talk, my good man! It is always nice to converse (I always find some small questionable translation choices in the German dub, like, in this case, why'd they choose to have Husk say "Du bist schon 'ne Weile weg" in present tense, as though he's technically STILL gone rather than the past tense "Du warst schon 'ne Weile weg", pff At least it didn't change the meaning too much, unlike in the German dub of Ready For This where Alastor and Rosie call Lucifer and Charlie "Machtgeil" aka "Power hungry" instead of "Machtvoll" aka "Powerful" X'D)
Todas as dublagens nessa cena ficaram boas mais nada se compara ao francês 7:36 Ele conseguiu transmitir a raiva e deixou o alastor muito sombrio, realmente me arrepiei 😮

Understood...
Adorable... Ha-ha! Nice chat, old pal! It's always nice to discuss!
P.S.: In the Italian adaptation, Alastor is slightly more inclined to swear than in the original version...
Thanks for the translation ! it's always good to know what they actually say.
Another fun fact: in the Italian dub the voice actors of Vox and Alastor are actually brothers. (Nanni and Oreste Baldini)
i love how in french version they make the micro is saturated to make it look like he's so mad eh's screaming
French alastor can't hurt you if he dosent exists
French alastor:hon hon hon

@@Goc4everHusk is the Brazilian dub is Shrek himself
Lol ive been watching the japanese dub of HH and just noticed here that when husk asks to speak to alastor, alastor reacts to him by verbally saying "bibi?" Which is the otomatopoeia for an electronic sound. X'D
Italian and French are by far the best ones other than the original
I especially love how in the French dub Alastor’s voice got really soft at “what did you say” before going full blown mad man. It makes it even creepier

Mmm... spain paton are good too... and japanese.
French French Alastor is terrifying
French Alastor is the best ! the rage in this lines !
it's nice that Italian is the only language that removed the radio effect from Alastor when he tells Husk "what is it" like in the original
My therapist: French dub Alastor isn't real, he can't hurt you
French dub Alastor:
Some small nuances I wanna point out because I love seeing how translations change the wording:
- in the France French dub, when alastor asks “what did you say” he says “q’est-ce que tu vien dire?” Which I think sounds slightly more menacing than the Canadian French’s “q’est-ce que t’a dit?”.
@@sophs8285 man, this is making me wanna go through and watch the show in four different languages just to catch all the small details like this!!
Another thing because I just remembered this thread existed again! When Alastor is in his demon form, he switches to the I-pronoun 俺 / おれ (like in this scene or the end of Stayed Gone), which is MUCH more masculine and harsher than his usual keigo and私 / わたし style of speech!
@@sophs8285 omg so true, I can't believe I didn't pick up on that. I love that detail it's SO cool and implies so much about his character???

The fact that Alastor canonically speaks French makes sense why he sounds so good in the dub
Edit: I also feel like the Latin Spanish was HEAVILY underrated, I feel like it’s one of my favorites along with the French and Japanese dubs
Fun fact: Husk's Brazilian VA already voiced another cat done by Keith David, the cat from Coraline.
And I think people should talk more about his voice, it fits very well, it's my favorite voice from this dub
i LOVE how alastor turns his head in the beggining
Hello guys french here, i'm kinda proud that the french VA of Alastor is loved by you, i must admit it was impressive when i first watch it, if you wondering why he's so scary, remember, french people
I love how they adapted the dialogue to spanish from Spain. Isn't a word for word translation but more a "A person from Spain will say this same, this way".
The translation of this is like this:
Husk: Hey, boss, can we talk?
Alastor: If you say something similar to that again, I will tear your soul in two and I'll broadcast your howlings so every wretched ones like you that dare to question me could listen to them
Husk: Understand
Alastor: Fabulous!

French Vox is absolutely amazing
Hindi Translation (the best I could do; my family is actually Gujarati):
Husk: Can I talk with you?
I - umm…
Alastor: From now on, if you say something like that, I will tear your soul into shreds and broadcast your screams on radio (broadcast sounds way less intimidating in Hindi) so that no-one can even *think* of being so rude/insolent/stubborn (out of context, probably rude).

(I always find some small questionable translation choices in the German dub, like, in this case, why'd they choose to have Husk say "Du bist schon 'ne Weile weg" in present tense, as though he's technically STILL gone rather than the past tense "Du warst schon 'ne Weile weg", pff
At least it didn't change the meaning too much, unlike in the German dub of Ready For This where Alastor and Rosie call Lucifer and Charlie "Machtgeil" aka "Power hungry" instead of "Machtvoll" aka "Powerful" X'D)
