In Spain Spanish, in the first chorus, the line should be "yo te escojí, no puedo negarlo" which means "I chose you, I can't deny it" In the second verse, the words that are missing are "sin vacilar, diré" which means "without hesitation, I'll say" Also the next line's translations is missleading, it's "when I want, I'll dissapear" also "trago" is gulp, not shot, but whatever In the second chorus, the missing words are "ya me decidí" which could be translated like "I already chose" or "I already made my decision" also "en realidad" means "actually"
Sei fantastico Riccardo! Ho visto anche il dietro le quinte! The original song is good but with your version you punched us in the gut, I cried. No wonder Amazon prime is promoting the italian dub!
17:24 oh my god, that gave me goosebumps. While the Italian version is my favorite, this part of the Japanese cover was absolutely chilling. It sounds like he’s genuinely in emotional anguish and crying for help.
I think that the italian Version is great but personaly i like japanese version a little more because he sang the verses in a more tragic way which i think is more suitible for the character. He makes him sound sad
in italian "Every night I'm living as theres no tomorrow" its actually translated more like "This night might be my last" and I actually think it has more impact on the meaning and for angel's character. Like that poison could effectively kill me, just like he later says!
@@IAmAnEgg-sk6zkVal said he would be "filming all night" because of Charlie's stunt... And it was like 10 in the morning, according to Charlie's activity schedule (the one she complained about Angel not finishing). Then when we see him in the balcony it's the wee hours. He had him "working" (sex work is work, ofc, but Angel was being assaulted) for something like 20 straight hours. I'm surprised poor Angel could drag himself back to the hotel 😢
The Japanese version of 'hamatteru' can mean 'I'm hooked', but it can also mean 'I'm stuck/unable to get out' with the same sound. Personally, I think it's a good translation of Angel's distress 😭
The brazilian portuguese also changed it to "hostage" and the lyrics are a lot more direct. It is nice to see how some of them changed some aspects but managed to keep the same idea of the original.
The most beautiful thing about the different languages is how their different translations can completely change the meaning of the song while still expressing the same point. For example: English: “Your poison is drowning me, but there’s nothing I can do. I wish I had something better.” Italian: “I’m so addicted to your poison and I can’t get enough. Give me more of it, even though it’s taken everything from me. I just hope it’ll all end soon.” German: “Your poison is the cause of all this, and everything I do is because of it. I hope there’s something for me beyond it.” Latin spanish: “You and your poison are lethal, and it’s going to be the death of me. But do whatever you want to me, cause nothing in my life has meaning.” French: “Everyone is benefiting from this situation except me. You’re the poison and I’m trapped in this hell by you. I just want to forget.” Japanese: “I can’t handle this reality so I turn to you as my addiction, but a bad ending is all you’ll lead me to. Is it possible a better fate for me exists?” Turkish: “You passed your poison to me and it tastes like drowning, but I want to swallow it anyways” Credit to aesubar7835
Hello, I am Latina and there are a couple of errors in that translation, in reality it is: Your poison is lethal, a deadly weapon, and I swallow it all every day I want more and more, it makes me sick there is no turning back every day attentive with my own life
English: Baseline Italian: ATE. German: Horny Spanish 1: Desperate and Horny Spanish 2: Desperate, Angry, and Horny French 1: Artistically Horny French 2: Where All Canadian Anger Went that The Geese Didn't Get Hindi: Transcendentally Pissed Off To Hopeless Japanese: Fighting Back Tears Portuguese: Defeated Thai: Just So Bitter Turkish: Giving Attitude Every version was well done, and each carried a different approach to the emotional aspect of the song's motivation, but I feel like Italian really and truly got in Angel's headspace in the performance. You can hear the physicality of the delivery and rather than focus on one main emotion or doing clean tone transitions it's a purposeful shift that's consistent with the lyrics rather than the music. This wasn't just singing or acting, it was both. Well done to every performer, though! It can't be easy to sing a translation.
As a person who is Hindu the hindi one was so correct at translation and lyrics and actually sounded like hindi and not some random gibberish and it was giving sassy but suffering like vibes
The spanish versions and the italian (mainly the italian version) hit so hard. The italian version fits so well with Angel and how he feels addicted with Val.
@@stardust-tt6mkafter watching a few episodes, overall its felt like the latin america dub is a lot better done than the spain one (but im not a native speaker so not a perfect judge)

As someone who is part Italian, I’m proud of the person casted for the Italian dub. It sounds gorgeous, definitely playing this on repeat!!! Che Bella voce ❤ 🇮🇹
The Japanese ones voice felt very sad throughout the song, like it was more emotional than the others. You can feel the sorrow when his voice is breaking, it’s my favorite one so far.❤
The Italian version is awesome but i tend more to the japanese version because he sang the verses with this sad undertone which the other versions dont have. I also like the voice of the actor
You have to thank Rossa caputo (va of charlie) and Riccardo Suarez (va of Angel dust). In the Italian version of "loser baby" husk has fun insulting angel dust (he says fai schifo "you suck")
Italian dubbibg has always been one of the best, humbly speaking (cause i'm italian) but i've seen foregn ppl react to italian dub of animations especially, and if you want proof go look light's laugh in italian. I'm so proud to be italian, everytime is such a good experience to see the original material well portrayed
As an Italian I was worried the adapters had not fully understood Hazbin Hotel being a musical, that needed great voices and careful adaptation (not only the metric had to be right, but the sense has to be mantained without the expressions being cringy, outdated, etc.), but so far they did great in every department.
What Isn't valentino spanish? He spoke spanish multiple times, and from what I remember he is spanish according to his backstory ? If not spanish he's still hispanic
@@mike3-bt2fi Japanese doesn't have v* syllables, only wa & wo and they work around it with b* syllable row adding lower case u into them. If I explained it poorly, I am sure someone here will correct me, but I think it's like this.
Damn, turkish traslator ATE SO MUCH!!! It's SOO on point. Magical!!! I envy!!!! I want that kind of language manupulation for myself!!! Zamn!!! Shame that practically no rhymes flew for Japanese ver, it's always a treat to hear that.
As an italian, the moment i heard riccardo suarez was gonna be the voice actor for angel i got so excited, since he voice acted so many of my fav characters, for example steven from steven universe :3
Ha, nice! For the at least Japanese dub of “poison”, the key word of the song is that which translates to “hooked” OR…, another word for “hooked” is, “addicted”. Wicked awesome. ^^ ;D
Here's a fun fact: the italian channel of Prime Video uploaded a short video about the behind the scenes of dubbing Hazbin Hotel in Italian with Charlie's and Angel's italian voices at work. You can see Angel's voice actor (Riccardo Suarez) going full impression during his dub and this song, he really liked putting himself IRL with the moves of the character while dubbing.
I agree, especially with the Japanese one; He's mostly blaming himself and the lyrics are more focused on the ENG lyric "Addicted to this feeling", as ハマってる means Addicted.
For me: 🥇English (my bias since I understand it most) 🥈日本語 (Japanese) 🥉Español de Latinoamérica (Spanish LA) I think all the voice actors did an amazing job, though. Really! My rating is more in regards to tone as opposed to performance quality. Also, my first language is English, I’m somewhat fluent in Spanish, and I know a little Japanese. So that’s definitely part of it. 😅
How great it feels that Latin dubbing is one of the most mentioned as good here (I'm Latino) xd (Use Google Translate)
I really liked the lyrics of the Spanish (Latin) version, I feel like they’re quite dark compared to the original, so I went and translated it as close as I could My body’s always been on sale And each lover is just another one of the crowd Each night another love Oh baby I should’ve known that it would happen When I looked into your eyes for the first time How many of your lies I’ve had to endure Oh baby The worst part of everything is that I know I asked for it Your poison is lethal, a mortal weapon And I drink it all, everyday I want more It hurts me, there’s no turning back Every night I end my own life However you want, whenever you want as many times as you want I am yours You will end me because you’re lethal I’m an expert with lies Always saying what you want to hear I disappear to not be Oh baby I can’t endure even one more tiny sip Your poison is lethal, a mortal weapon It always tastes horrible to me but I still want more and more It hurts me, there’s no turning back I can’t stop attempting on my own life However you want, whenever you want as many times as you want I am yours You will end me because you’re lethal Lethal, I’m going to drown There’s no way I’m going to fill my empty glass It’s lethal, I can’t take it anymore There’s nothing in my life that makes sense
im always obsessed with the italian versions of songs, a lot of people hate ita live action dubbing but in animation its always a knock out of the park!! specialmente in questa canzone
I will admit, I am surprised at the translation of the hindi version. I did not expect it to be that good and the last line is basically "I wish someone would truely love me" like damn, I did not expect that line
Ikr hindi dub to itna cringe ya different from source material hota tha bachpan k cartoon men, i wasn't expecting itna effort from them faithful banane men, especially considering cartoon hai lekin adult themes k sath
I find it endlessly fascinating that the same song can be sung in several different languages. And the words in each language always manage to rhyme. It shows that all of humanity's languages have common denominators and ancestry.
But they change the lyrics to actually rhyme. That makes your entire comment fall apart. If it really was like you say, the lyrics could be translated literally and they'd still rhyme - which they would not, hence the changes.
The beauty, or rather, the pride of being Italian and seeing so many people appreciate the version of your native language. Riccardo Suarez, despite being very young, has an incredible skill in dubbing. By dubbing Steven he had already demonstrated his excellent dubbing skills (and there he was even younger than now), but here his dubbing skill gives you goosebumps because of how excellent it is. I wish Riccardo the best for his career as a voice actor.
In the Turkish one. They used an idiom that matches perfectly to the lyrics and I loved it. Here is a breakdown for you: 1:05 Original: I got so good at being untrue, I got so good at telling you what you wanna hear... 23:48 Turkish: Ustalaştım yalanlarımla, iyice ustalaştım AĞZINA BAL ÇALMAKTA... "Ağzına bal çalmak" literally means "put honey in your mouth". But what this idiom really means is "saying nice, promising and convincing things in order to achive your goal" My translation (Turkish dub to English) : I mastered lying, I mastered FEEDING YOU WITH SWEET WORDS thoroughly... I'ts the closest I can get in a sentece format but you get what I mean. It fits with Angel but ofc not in a malicious way. Because achiving your goal doesnt always equal to benefiting from it. In his concept a goal can be "not breaking the rules in his contract/ not breaking the character/ not to annoy or make Val angry/ convincing Val to treat him better/ convincing himself that he chose to be this way/ etc. I love the depth of his character and also so exited to see more.
I'm Spanish and when I found out the songs were dubbed as well, I instantly thought "there's no way they'll be good" but THEY ARE, I've been obsessing over the Spanish version of Poison ever since I first listened to it!
It’s so nice to see all of these languages together! It was hard to choose my favorites but here they are: 1. Italian. The singer portrayed a rollercoaster of emotions! The grunts, the audible breath control, the change of tones, and obviously his beautiful voice. This is also one of the cleanest audios because the others have too much reverb. 2. English. This is just the original and the way it’s supposed to be enjoyed. 3. Spanish (Spain). He’s just very emotional and those high notes sound amazing! 4. Turkish. I was a little undecided but the voice is good, the tones are never monotonous and he sounds pretty lively. 5. France French. Too much editing but good try
Spanish speaker here, 7:01 the line 'Cada noche acabo con mi propia vida' is literally 'Every night I end my own life' I think is more appropiate bc the spanish line literally refers to k*ll oneself while the translation implies exasperation more than anything and downplays just how far Angel is in this version
And being honest is like the second best version because the author said that Angel was a Drag in life before overdosing and dying with Angel Dust and the voice in Spanish from Latin America is like how Drags tend to sound and talk with modisms, diminutives and such over here so lore wise, it feels accurate while not sounding effeminate like the real version with Blake and Angels whole schick
I have to say, seeing how songs are translated are always so interesting, you can see the interpretation of the character by the change of lyrics, each language as a slightly different angel and this is great
"Mi cuerpo siempre estuvo en venta" "Lo peor de todo es que, se que me la busqué" "Cada noche acabo con mi propia vida" "Acabaras conmigo porque eres letal" "Desaparezco para no estar" "No dejo de atentar con mi propia vida" "No hay nada en mi vida que tenga sentido" Esto es desgarrador 😭
As an Italian, I'm honoured to see how many people think the Italian sub is the best. Riccardo Suarez did an amazing job and I genuinely think he's a perfect match for Angel's voice🩷
Italian versions of songs have never disappointed me haha. It really was the best. Also, I was impressed with how much I got "Angel" sound out of Hindi, Thai, and Turkish. I don't know if the fact I've studied those three the least plays a factor, but yeah this was so interesting to hear!
Based on delivery and rhymes only (I have no clue about the translations) the Italian, Portuguese, and Turkish hit HOME. I felt like it emitted the same atmosphere as the original version, which is impressive.
The brazilian dub did a good job at changing the lyrics to keep it coherent with the rhythm but it ended up losing a bit of its symbolism. The "poison" being replaced with "hostage" kept the same idea of Angel being powerless and just a toy barely holding up to Valentino's abuse even if it sounds a lot more direct. It is also a lot more "obedient" with the word usage being less in the seductive side and Angel just being totally submissive. Apl in all, it is a lot less darker than the LA Spanish version and a bit less symbolic than the original but it is still much better than the german and french one (why the hell did they edit his voice so much?).
@maxvitor7023 Thank you for your insight on the Brazilian one! I can tell it's following the same flow, and with your explanation, I like how they replaced the words but kept the same theme going. And I agree, as someone who enjoyed the French version of "ADDICT" they overdid it waaay too much with the effect on this one. It's a shame because it really overshadows the actual vocals! As someone fluent in French, I find the translation is fine. It does a good job at passing the original message. However, some lines are a little repetitive and could've used better wordplays.
Ok, as brazilian I'm totally in love with the lyrics translation and I even feel it's more accurate and shows how cruel is Dust situation in a really explicit way, without any simbolism. BUT OMG THE ITALIAN VERSION IS THE BEST?! IT FITS SO WELL?!?!?!!? LIKE EVEN BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL!?!?!?
Verdade.
As an Italian I admit that this is the only series i want to see dubbed, i love it and thanks to Riccardo now i'm obsessed with this song😔✋ LOVE IT‼️🇮🇹🙇
I love how much vocal variety there is in the Italian dub, like the actor REALLY played around with voice cracks and huffy sounding growls in a way that adds to the performance. I love in the the second chorus the voice cracks make him sound more desperate.

In Spain Spanish, in the first chorus, the line should be "yo te escojí, no puedo negarlo" which means "I chose you, I can't deny it"
In the second verse, the words that are missing are "sin vacilar, diré" which means "without hesitation, I'll say"
Also the next line's translations is missleading, it's "when I want, I'll dissapear"
also "trago" is gulp, not shot, but whatever
In the second chorus, the missing words are "ya me decidí" which could be translated like "I already chose" or "I already made my decision"
also "en realidad" means "actually"

I think that the italian Version is great but personaly i like japanese version a little more because he sang the verses in a more tragic way which i think is more suitible for the character. He makes him sound sad
@@Engine_868 I absolutely agree with you.
in italian "Every night I'm living as theres no tomorrow" its actually translated more like "This night might be my last" and I actually think it has more impact on the meaning and for angel's character. Like that poison could effectively kill me, just like he later says!
"I'm living as there's no tomorrow" means you could just drop dead anytime because you live like shit
And he later says "I hope this night will be my last."
also the "i hope tonight is my last night" is SO impactful.

I love how in Japanese version his voice gets more and more tired as the song goes on
Ikr! It’s especially fitting bc in the whole sequence Angel’s working some really long, intense hours and appears tired and broken down in some parts

I was thinking the same lol
The brazilian portuguese also changed it to "hostage" and the lyrics are a lot more direct.
It is nice to see how some of them changed some aspects but managed to keep the same idea of the original.
The most beautiful thing about the different languages is how their different translations can completely change the meaning of the song while still expressing the same point. For example:
English: “Your poison is drowning me, but there’s nothing I can do. I wish I had something better.”
Italian: “I’m so addicted to your poison and I can’t get enough. Give me more of it, even though it’s taken everything from me. I just hope it’ll all end soon.”
German: “Your poison is the cause of all this, and everything I do is because of it. I hope there’s something for me beyond it.”
Latin spanish: “You and your poison are lethal, and it’s going to be the death of me. But do whatever you want to me, cause nothing in my life has meaning.”
French: “Everyone is benefiting from this situation except me. You’re the poison and I’m trapped in this hell by you. I just want to forget.”
Japanese: “I can’t handle this reality so I turn to you as my addiction, but a bad ending is all you’ll lead me to. Is it possible a better fate for me exists?”
Turkish: “You passed your poison to me and it tastes like drowning, but I want to swallow it anyways”
Credit to aesubar7835
So true, it depends of course on the metrics, but seems like to reflect a country's culture and energy too
Hello, I am Latina and there are a couple of errors in that translation, in reality it is:

Japanese: Fighting Back Tears
Portuguese: Defeated

Every version was well done, and each carried a different approach to the emotional aspect of the song's motivation, but I feel like Italian really and truly got in Angel's headspace in the performance.

Yh as a someone with Spanish as their first language the lyrics are a changed a lot but still good 👍✨

The Japanese one really shows how Angel clearly feels when singing this
In the Turkish one. They used an idiom that matches perfectly to the lyrics and I loved it. Here is a breakdown for you:
1:05 Original: I got so good at being untrue, I got so good at telling you what you wanna hear...
23:48 Turkish: Ustalaştım yalanlarımla, iyice ustalaştım AĞZINA BAL ÇALMAKTA...
"Ağzına bal çalmak" literally means "put honey in your mouth". But what this idiom really means is "saying nice, promising and convincing things in order to achive your goal"
My translation (Turkish dub to English) : I mastered lying, I mastered FEEDING YOU WITH SWEET WORDS thoroughly...
Wowwww it's so deep meaning bro

As someone who grew up in germany i want to apologise to everyone who has suffered under that absolutely horrendous dub, i want to cry
Absolute horrid song in German, how they managed to fail so badly is beyond me.
Yeah they absolutely FUMBLED Poison. Like, damn...
All of the italian versions of the songs are great. They really got good singers
And Italian was already a good sounding language
In Italy we have a big dubbing work, they always try to match the lip sync and in hazbin there are big voices like Suarez and Baldini
It’s so nice to see all of these languages together!
It was hard to choose my favorites but here they are:
(I'm Italian) I'd put English first and Italian second...I actually don't like the others

Also as a Turkish person I really admire Italian version! best one so far!! ❤
I'am TURKISH

Well Spanish in LA Latin America is really like the original song in English and it flows like the original. Excellent 👌 work :). Love it!
The thing with the LA Spanish is that, is by far the darkest
For me it's the best and fitting version, also the lyrics are spot on...
I usually don't say this often for my country, but the italian work here is lovely.
Godly adaptation, godly lyrics, godly voice, godly VA. 10/10
The Latin America Spanish version has the lyrics “yeah yeah yeah” changed with “oh ba-by~”. Sweet ;D
I have to say, seeing how songs are translated are always so interesting, you can see the interpretation of the character by the change of lyrics, each language as a slightly different angel and this is great
"Mi cuerpo siempre estuvo en venta"
"Lo peor de todo es que, se que me la busqué"
"Cada noche acabo con mi propia vida"
"Acabaras conmigo porque eres letal"
"Desaparezco para no estar"
"No dejo de atentar con mi propia vida"
"No hay nada en mi vida que tenga sentido"
Esto es desgarrador 😭
どの国のエンジェルも素敵すぎるな…
As an Italian, I'm honoured to see how many people think the Italian sub is the best. Riccardo Suarez did an amazing job and I genuinely think he's a perfect match for Angel's voice🩷
My favorites are Italian, Latin Spanish , Turkish, and Japanese!
thank you buddy
Great italian dub! Thanks to Riccardo Suarez! 🇮🇹
TÜRKÇESİ AŞIRI İYİ OLMUŞ! Hem çeviri olarak hem seslendirme olarak bayıldım! Söylenin, çevirenin ellerine sağlık çok güzel olmuş. 💖💖 22:49
Evett aşırı iyi
Italian versions of songs have never disappointed me haha. It really was the best. Also, I was impressed with how much I got "Angel" sound out of Hindi, Thai, and Turkish. I don't know if the fact I've studied those three the least plays a factor, but yeah this was so interesting to hear!
I’m so impressed with the Spanish (LA) lyrics, it’s so good
Well look, although you expected less, you were there HAHAHAHAHAHA you stayed xddd
LIKE EVEN BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL!?!?!?
poisé
Véi MT bom o italiano
Verdade.
6:55 the lyric is "cada día quiero
idk why people doesn't think Thai is good but it really hits for me. The voice, it has personality! He really understands the character
As a Thai here tysm!!!
Yeah, he understands the personality of Angel Dust completely...
As an Italian, I'm glad people appreciate our version❤
My favorites
1- English
2- Italian
3- Portuguese
Proud to see the italian one is getting a lot of praise!
