Earlier this evening, I have been informed that Michael Angelis, the UK narrator for Thomas and Friends from Series 3-16, passed away at the age of 68. While there are narrators I personally prefer over Michael (particularly, Ringo and George), I'd be lying if I said I didn't have a massive amount of respect for him, especially as he was the longest-running narrator the series has ever had, having narrated between 1991 and 2012.
I wasn't really sure of what to make as a tribute video to him, so I decided to make a collage of clips featuring one of his most recognizable voices (no, not Sir Topham Hatt/The Fat Controller).
As some of you probably know, Michael was initially signed on to voice James and Percy for Thomas and the Magic Railroad before being replaced by Susan Roman and Linda Ballantyne, respectively. Personally, I'm not that big a fan of Roman's voice for James (or TMR in general), but I do see why Britt wanted Michael to voice him. You wouldn't mistake his James voice for anyone else, and that's a good thing.
Apologies for the slight bit of rush work. This isn't the most glamorous or professional-looking tribute video in the world, but I hope you guys appreciate it all the same.
If anyone wants to try their own hand at a more complete tribute to Michael's James voice (that being, covering S3-12) or any of his other voices, feel free to let me know and I'll check it out :)

I love how Angelis' James voice becomes more louder and deranged each season. It's one of the reasons why his voice is the first thing I think of whenever I think of the character. R.I.P.

I love how from the second half of Series 3 is when he settled on the sneering Liverpudlian accent for James. He knew he'd found THE voice for him.
Season 3 was definitely one of James's best seasons it was an amazing season for Percy and Duck as well
I noticed he stuck to it Series 7 onwards, as some episodes from prior series were all over the place
@LegendaryCaptain In Season 5, Trouble with Trees, once he tried a liverpudlian accent instead of a high British accent, he knew he found the right voice co James. Season 6 James voice is not as a good, but he did better in Season 7-12 as James. Angelis WAS James!❤😊
Funny that both Michaels voice James rather well. Makes sense as James is certainly someone that would sound loud and excited.

Michael Angelis passed away yesterday?! I'm stunned! Now we have lost a great Thomas & Friends narrator this year. I have really enjoyed his excellent UK and US narrations for many years! Anyway, good compilation video!

James was the the best character Michael Angelis ever voiced in Thomas along with The Fat Controller. He was the voice of my childhood r.i.p 💙
Michael Angelis was the perfect James. Though I’m not as fond of it as others because of me being American, it still is wonderful. I wish it was included in TATMR. Same with Pierce Brosnan for season twelve.

Keith Wickham and Rob Rackstraw in the UK version are my personal favourite voices, but it was Angelis’s version that first really sold to me what kind of cocky character James had.
In my opinion he is the best narrator and my favourite narrator one as well. It’s upsetting to know that’s he’s gone but he will always be known as the best voice for james

Nice tribute mate. I was so upset to hear that he had died. I grew up with his narration. He was the voice of my childhood. R.I.P. Michael. 😢
The fact Michael could do a Scouse accent so flawlessly is so impressive.
He was the Best narrator, but the best for the voice of James. And his best episode as a narrator in my view was in season 6, episode 22 "Thomas and the jet engine".
Ps. It's sad he already died.

I really liked Michael Angelis' narration in Series 3, 4 and 7. I've grown with his narration in Series 5-6 for a long time. But I like Alec Baldwin's narration better.
Um... i don't mean to demean Mr.Angelis when i say this, but i don't think he suited James.

He is supposed to be a young, egotistical Mogul, around slightly older than Thomas, so his voice in the movie sounds exactly like how I'd picture him!^^'

I have to disagree by saying that susan james's Voice has it's fans she literally does not fit at all as her voice makes him, not obviously sound like a woman ,also makes him sound too young as Thomas and percy, and well
