Gunne Sax were the most beautiful dresses for “casual” weddings, I wore one in a wedding back in 1976 as a bridesmaid, it was a lovely pale blue color, similar style to your dress. My Bestie at the time asked to wear my dress to her courthouse wedding, & she still has it!
My wedding dress was Gunny Sax. Back in the early 80s, I saw the gown in a bridal magazine and tracked it down in my city. It was perfect and loved. I donated it maybe 10 years ago. Still have the veil, but it might be time for that, too.
I love Gunnysacks dresses, I wore a beautiful beige one at our wedding, 45 years ago, my sister wore the pale green Gunnysacks dress as my Bridesmaid, it matched my Wedding dress perfectly. Two of my favorite cousins also wore Gunnysacks dresses. Our wedding was in 1979, it was a small church wedding, but it was exactly what we wanted.👍🩵My dress was trimmed with lots of beige lace and small baby blue ribbons. My husband wore a baby blue tie with a beige suit with baby blue tie.
Our eldest daughter got married in 1996. She wore my mum’s bridal headdress from 1940’s , the bridegroom’s step grandmother altered it a bit, as after 50 years, some of the tiny flowers had fallen off. So even though my parents had gone by the time our daughter got married, a part of them were at the wedding I felt.
Omigosh! I owned an identical green Gunne Sax dress in the '70s. I think I bought it in 1977. So wonderful to see the dress's restoration. I remember the dress's original color as being a fairy green. Thank you for your great videos!
Amazing how beautiful they are. How do you get the water out of them? Strictly drip dry? Or rolling in towels to absorb the water? Would love to see the process from start to finish. Thanks for saving these and giving someone a chance to make memories with them
There's just something about an A line gown... this wedding dress looks so airy and lovely in its simplicity. The details are so delicate they enhance it without overwhelming it. Gorgeous work!
I have always loved Gunny Sax dresses back in the 1980s, when she was still popular and Little House on the Prairie was in full swing, I sewed two very similar Jessica McClintock dresses for my young daughter and I for Easter one year. They turned out so nice! Then, of course, along came the 1990s and Laura Ashley. They don’t make dresses like that anymore.
I had a brown print gunne sax dress with lace up detail and flutter cap sleeves for my ‘first wedding’. I believe that gunne sax dress you’re showing was originally white and was dyed green. I remember that dress.
I wore a Gunny Sax dress to both homecoming and prom back in the day! They were incredibly popular and I loved my dresses! You did an amazing job restoring both dresses!
It would be nice if the commentator could state the material content of the dress. Is the dress made of nylon, polyester or silk? Right now I have some heirloom vintage clothes I want to restore. I'm concern about the shrinkage after the wash.
My wedding dress was a Gunne Sax and it is still preserved in a box. I thought that my daughters might want to wear it but alas is was much too small for either.

I’m glad the bride stood her ground. That wedding dress was really pretty!💕

I adored wearing Gunne Sax dresses growing up. I always felt so beautiful when wearing one. I had several, for church.

The wedding dress is so lovely. Quite elegant despite its simplicity. I love it.

Good job on both of them! Sweet wedding dress back bow detail, the way it stands up. 🩷 Neat to see a Gunne Sax original. 💚
This is a very modest and charming wedding dress. It reflects an era of decorum.

Absolutely love how the wedding dress was transformed in the bath tub. It’s fascinating to me how the gunniesax dress turned an amazing sage color.
I totally agree!
2:15 pm. Love to see how the changes come out to bring all of these dresses back to life. Excellent work!

That gunny sax dress brought back so many memories. I had bought that same dress but cream muslin and black&tan lace for Jr high graduation
I love the wedding dress❤!
Love both. You have a good eye for the ugly ducklings that you can turn in to a swan.❤❤
Great restoration on both special dresses.

I wore a gunney sac dress to my prom. I wish I had gotten the off white version.
Hi, could you give us a more detailed tutorial on how to wash vintage including products etc, thanks.
What do you do with the dresses after restoration?

I've read that if you leave things soaking too long the fabric will reabsorb the dirty water back in after 20 to 30 minutes.
Yup which is why I generally drain the tub the first thing within 20 minutes!
@@HobbyBobbins Thanks!!
I got married in a Gunne Sax dress, saved a lot of money.
@@aprilbox3766 I also was married in a Gunne Sax, I don’t know where it is now. It was a very pretty blue
