3:22 I don’t know why but this has always disturbed since I’ve first starting playing Opposing Forces. Crpl. Shepard being trapped in a place of “purgatory” for an allotted time period. The thought of that always gives me anxiety.
I think it is extremely sinister. First, Shephard was put into stasis only because Gman personally found his deed and him by extension amusing, and therefore argued with his employers to keep him, indicating that he has no actual intended use. Second, Shephard's being preserved is only "for a time", meaning that he is to be disposed of after that time passes.
I'm not sure if that analogy works either way. With Alien, the film would still be a massive success and function perfectly fine, the Engineer just adds a little to the mystery. Half-Life is the same with first-person video game story-telling, it would be just as revolutionary and still be unrivalled in that department. Don't get me wrong, the G-Man and the Engineer are great but they don't "make" the work they appear in.
Actually, the "bad" ending in Half-Life 1 is canon. I think Marc Laidlaw said that G-Man lied to Gordon, so that either way he is forced to work for him.
Either way would be canon. He's probably referring to G-man's line at the end of HL2. "Rather than offer you the illusion of free choice, I will take the liberty of choosing for you," implying Gordon didn't have free choice whichever move he made at the end of HL1, meaning he planned to put him in stasis regardless.

I wish I could buy Half life:Decay.Valve sells all the half life's on steam, except decay...they sell blue shift,Opposing Force, all of them. But not decay. Why is that? Can someone please tell me why?
It depends on difficulty. On Medium in example Alien Grunts die after 2 well placed crossbow bolts (you have to hit them in the chest or back, right in that gap in their armor). Controller dies after 1 Magnum hit and 3 Glock hits or single shotgun hit (double on medium distance) - one drum used in teleportation sequence can really save your ass. On Xen there are plenty of grenades and HEV backpacks mostly contain shotgun shells, crossbow bolts and Magnum bullets, sometimes also grenades.
It was a co-op game for half life where you and another player could solve levels and things like that locally on your system. I played it on the PS2 a while back.
wha-NO I WANT MORE! WHAT DOES G-MAN MEAN FOR "JOB"? WHAT "OTHER EMPLOYEES"? WHO ARE THEM? WHY AT THE END OF BLUE SHIFT THE GAME SAYS "STATUS: OUT OF RANGE" ? I WANT ANSWERS >_
Well Barny ran away, he was one of the only ones to escape Black Mesa unscathed and out of the reach of the Gman, among a few other scientist. The Gman recruits survivors, stores them away for later use but couldnt get to Barny. By job he means that Freeman(or other employee) will be an insurgent in whichever system he puts him in and survive, he is the right person that doesn't raise any flags. Other employees are other "super" humans like Shepard, stored away for later use. These men are used as pawns since the Gman can't directly involve himself. Boom, answered. The Gman must be some kind of interdimensional being that watches over the universe. I believe he is a good man, he led Gordon Freeman to stop Nihilanth, who was enslaving the other creatures in Xen.
Gman didn't have control over the guys in Decay, because we didn't see the Subject and Status screen, so it's possible that they are still somewhere, alive, on the Half-Life Universe's earth.
@@hoovy1163 I agree, though i prefer playing with the HD pack off, the only HD pack weapon i wish was in the original release is the M4, some of the HD pack weapons have unresponsive feeling animations.
It seems that the half life series is mostly based on who Gman take interest in. in Half life, bs and of it gman have written documents (text in intro and outro of the games) about them and what they have done. In decay Gman is present but they do not meet a criteria to make him write documents.
@mysterykcad If you read the Half Life wiki, it says that G-Man only wanted Gordon to be wearing the suit when he was already discovered by the Combine. I mean, who wants to be walking out of a train you never entered wearing an HEV suit?
when he said about he is fascinated by people who survives against all odd's kind and that reminds him of himself is that hinting he was gordon freeman in the past?
They never showed the ending where if you just wait in the back of the bus and don’t get in the portal the gman spawns you somewhere with a bunch of aliens surrounding you
It's the original version. When you install the non-Steam version, you get the option to install the HD pack. On the Steam version you can just go into the options and the HD model pack is in the video options.
maybe if valve makes a half life 3 they could bring Shepard back and he has to hunt and kill gordon! like u play as gordon and and sometimes u can see Shepard following u! and on the other hand maybe u can play coop!
Adrian will not be released in HL3. He will be released in OpFor2. He will have to be given role from the start of HL2 universe before teaming up with Gordon/Alyx in HL3.
Can anyone answer me? If this teleportation of Black Mesa is imperfect, does that mean Aperture Science first figured it out to perfect the technology?
Based on a comment I saw down below, HL3 needs a feature here you can either play as Barney, Shepherd or Freeman, with 3 closely tied campaigns but still a tad different.
theres a mod called Awakening when Gman revives Shepard from stasis after a week or so after the 7 Hour War. it shows a base that Eli, Kleiner, and Barney used before City 17, how the Gravity gun was brought there, and the origin of the antlions. there r only 2 voice actors though, and these events arent canon, so the mod is not wut really happened, but its still cool and u play as Shepard in a camoflauge version of the HEV Mark V
If he returns to earth, shephard would be his own faction. He will hunt down freeman for being the catalyst for everything going to schit. He will hunt down the gman for...fanning the flames, and nuking black mesa and all his soldier friends in it. And he will hunt down alyx cuz she's effectively the gman's new employee after Gordon basically retired. And he will hunt down the aliens, cuz why not? On another note, maybe the doomguy was shephard all along
I great way to continue shepherds story would be waking up in a crashed Ospery that's old and worn, and you're in an area similar to the victory mines, having a country farmland feel like the beginning of episode 2. Have Cpl. Shepherd navigate his way through the land and discover citizens and what not.

@@elcobra98 like the bad ending is any better right? surviving the black mesa incident and killing the nihilant in xen, getting rescued from it by Gman, only to be sent back to Xen, unarmed, and be killed by a bunch of Xen soldiers.
Yeah, found it a while ago.
Truly unbelievable i missed out on this.
Half-Life 1 was the first video game i ever played c:
Holy crap the music in Opposing Force's ending is underrated!!!
I love all the HL Endings.....people who complained about them should really take a look at what direction means.
Gordon: Taking a nap
Shepard: Taking a nap
Barney: Running and never looking back
Gina: Probably dead
Barney: John Marston
Colette: Probably dead
poor shephard try to get out black mesa and don't make it
I got stuck in Opposing Force at the part with all the giant laser shooting bugs, thanks for showing the end!
Man,how I would love to see a remake of all these great classics done on the marvelous Source engine.Valve would make me life waaay better.
... on the marvelous Source 2 engine!
So, I suppose you played Black Mesa.
It's just so great we have a full remake of Half-Life now! But we can never forget the original.
I wish I could buy Half life:Decay.Valve sells all the half life's on steam, except decay...they sell blue shift,Opposing Force, all of them. But not decay. Why is that? Can someone please tell me why?
Decay is the co-op mode made for the ps2 port of half-life.
But why can't they make it for pc too?
TheAllmyne3030 in the video description I think he was talking about there being a fan made PC port. but I don't really know.
Decay is PlayStation 2 exclusive. There's a PC port though.
Gearbox was going to make the official PC port but was later abandoned.
HD g-man gives me nightmares and including other HD models
look in the mirror, it will also cause nightmares.
You're missing the bad ending in hl1 ! When you stay in the tram!
J.B. O'Connor read the desc
On Xen there are plenty of grenades and HEV backpacks mostly contain shotgun shells, crossbow bolts and Magnum bullets, sometimes also grenades.
more than a decade has passed but watching this still gives me the thrills!
2 decades
4:29 Markiplier? is that you? xD
Half-Life: Decay? Why didnt i ever heard of it before?
It is officially PS2 only (I said officially because there is unofficial version for Windows).
+mrbackup993 wait for Half-Life 3 then
+Unscripted what a dumb way to die.
***** When I say GMan it could as an individual or as an organisation he represents.
Unscripted it’s been four years
Nearly 20 years later and Shephard is STILL waiting for a job. Dang, that must be tough to just be forgotten about.
Job market is very competitive right now in the Half Life franchise
...
Such wise words
walter was the -best- second best with the crowbar
I've gotta say...blue shift has probably the only happy ending in literally the entire series
You forgot the alternate ending for for Gordon. The one where he doesn't go through the gmans portal.
Kampfarsch "idyet"
Kampfarsch what is idiyet?
It was my first fps game :D It's the best too. I only heard about this a year ago, but Decay is 2 player co op. Kind of fun with another player.
Gman didn't have control over the guys in Decay, because we didn't see the Subject and Status screen, so it's possible that they are still somewhere, alive, on the Half-Life Universe's earth.
Am I the only one who likes all the models from the PS2 port but dislikes the G-man model?
I feel the same way, I liked the updated weapons but absolutely hated character models, that one in particular.
@@wilaim8549 the updated weapons models were way better than the original,I loved them a lot
But something looked off about the character models
@@hoovy1163 I agree, though i prefer playing with the HD pack off, the only HD pack weapon i wish was in the original release is the M4, some of the HD pack weapons have unresponsive feeling animations.
@@wilaim8549 M4's fire sound is one of the most brutal and legendary Weapon Sound Effects ever
Imho at least
did anyone else notice that towards the end, everything starts getting better graphics, first your guns flat, then its bulged and shaped
me too, it's so freakin' awesome! i really wish they will make the ep.3 of this game. =D
It seems that the half life series is mostly based on who Gman take interest in.
in Half life, bs and of it gman have written documents (text in intro and outro of the games) about them and what they have done.
In decay Gman is present but they do not meet a criteria to make him write documents.
Same! I can't wait to give it a try, I love the series so much :D
@mysterykcad If you read the Half Life wiki, it says that G-Man only wanted Gordon to be wearing the suit when he was already discovered by the Combine. I mean, who wants to be walking out of a train you never entered wearing an HEV suit?
And the bad end of the principal history? :v
when he said about he is fascinated by people who survives against all odd's kind and that reminds him of himself is that hinting he was gordon freeman in the past?
Poor Adrian :/
Just googled this after quitting that ending segment. Jesus christ what a chore.
I've always loved the over boding fact that even with all the decisions you make yourself, Gordon is still under control by G-mans' employers.
They never showed the ending where if you just wait in the back of the bus and don’t get in the portal the gman spawns you somewhere with a bunch of aliens surrounding you
Rise and Shine mr.Freeman
Rise and shine.....
Wake up, smell the ashes....
God HD gman looks like hell
No
What versions are you using? Source? Steam?
He is using the steam version of half-life with a custom PS2 HD pack.
It's the original version. When you install the non-Steam version, you get the option to install the HD pack. On the Steam version you can just go into the options and the HD model pack is in the video options.
+132Meatball No, that G-Man model isn't the HD or the original version...
I love The G Man. Best and most mysterious character in the series.
maybe if valve makes a half life 3 they could bring Shepard back and he has to hunt and kill gordon! like u play as gordon and and sometimes u can see Shepard following u! and on the other hand maybe u can play coop!
That... Actually sounds interesting and promising... I hope they do it that way! Count on me for that idea.
ryan grozdanich Shephard Is Dead
Adrian will not be released in HL3. He will be released in OpFor2. He will have to be given role from the start of HL2 universe before teaming up with Gordon/Alyx in HL3.
Someone made a game like that. It's shitty as heck.
Can anyone answer me? If this teleportation of Black Mesa is imperfect, does that mean Aperture Science first figured it out to perfect the technology?
Can someone tell me who is adrian shepard?
The protagonist of Half-Life: Opposing Force. He was one of the soldiers meant to kill Freeman in Half-Life.
But dose he at the end?
Paulius Zubrus No, as Freeman lives through Half-Life as he is the protagonist of Half-Life 2.
I was talking about adrian though.
Paulius Zubrus Oh. What are you asking if he does?
Based on a comment I saw down below, HL3 needs a feature here you can either play as Barney, Shepherd or Freeman, with 3 closely tied campaigns but still a tad different.
God no they messed that up with gta 5.
how many endings in hl1 the main game are there?
2
1:22 *gulp*
What if the Gman represents the jews in our society ah haaa. Mystery solved
I remenber it,today we celebrate 20 aniversary.
Barney saw his friend's supposedly lifeless body and thought he was dead for over like, 20 years.
That's fucked up.
theres a mod called Awakening when Gman revives Shepard from stasis after a week or so after the 7 Hour War. it shows a base that Eli, Kleiner, and Barney used before City 17, how the Gravity gun was brought there, and the origin of the antlions. there r only 2 voice actors though, and these events arent canon, so the mod is not wut really happened, but its still cool and u play as Shepard in a camoflauge version of the HEV Mark V
thanks for the upload, i wasnt able to finish this game when i was young, this game gave me a headache and a fever when i was playing it
Me as a teenager was often sick to finish this game, let alone being a toddler.
@bboytomo
You don't get the reference... I'm sorry. :)
You can get it on Desura. It was never officially released for PC, but some brave modder's did it.
I great way to continue shepherds story would be waking up in a crashed Ospery that's old and worn, and you're in an area similar to the victory mines, having a country farmland feel like the beginning of episode 2. Have Cpl. Shepherd navigate his way through the land and discover citizens and what not.
The greatest crime Valve committed was not giving Corporal Shephard a sequel
