I expected something funny but it's actually helpful, nice
Well, the end is at least a little funny I guess
@@Farvann the end was helpful
@@Farvann Is this part of a real song it actually sounds pretty good lol
@@spicymeatballs2thespicening No, I just made that up
@@Farvann sir, why is a great person like ye, not a Muslim??? Thank ye fer videos... Respect..
I like how the drums are already included but bass is the last "don't forget" step
You don’t hear drums playing everytime you start playing your guitar? Weird
@@bappochan6615🤣🤣🤣
"there you go, generic melodeath" REAL 🤣
Here is a trick to get an even bigger sound. Put a reverb on both guitar tracks and then hard pan the reverb to the opposite side. You want the verb for the hard left guitar to be panned hard right, and the verb for the hard right guitar panned hard left. Massive sound.
this riff rocks. pls do a full song :D
Nein!
Dethklok would sue. You cant resell Thunderhorse
@@Farvann :O
@@rockflageagle3870 that sounds like an opening to an episode. Every metal band is being sued by Dethklok for 60 trillion dollars for “ripping them off” because they’ve trademarked every note
@@friedporchetta Throw those lawsuits at that guy over there
I think the hardest part is finding 3 other people with the ability to play melodeath live.
how to improve your sound: play 3 guitars and 1 bass at once
This is for home recording..
it actually can also somewhat be applied to your solo play...I dunno what software/hardware you use but with Amplitube 5 I often just had two amp simulations running at the same time with slightly different EQ, Amp and Cab settings to get a juicier sound.
Nowadays I do it in a single line more with EQ fine-tuning and very deliberate mic and speaker options/placement in the cab simulation...the sound I play with now is about as juicy and full as I want it to be, but unusable for recording.
I can not for the life of me figure out a method to make it this rich sounding without heavy use of a noise gate, without it no matter how I create the sound it always brings along the most painful idle -buzzing- screeching that I can only cancel out but not without a cost...I feel like it might be actually impossible
Yes, Left/ Right full pan balance makes a world of difference, good stuff. Nice Desaster shirt btw.
I learned in 1 minute more than from hours of guitar tutorials on youtube
You were searching in the wrong places, my friend.
For a riff like this I'd throw a harmony riff over it as well
Hoomans need a full version of this
Any Metalcore song I think 😅
100%. There’s nothing more satisfying than hearing the riff for the first time doubled and panned. It instantly takes it to a new level
Respect for remembering the bass
Don’t forget the bass Lars has left the chat room 😂
Actually a very good tip for the guitar sound. Most people dont get what a hole bunch of instruments, the bass and the drums add to the guitar. And that riff :o ;)
I learned about playing the exact same riff twice & panning one left & one right, like 25 years ago. But play each one from start to finish...no copy/paste looping BS. I only do 2 rhythm guitar tracks myself & it's fine that way. Then again I've been recording since the late 90s...not everyone has.
Also learned years ago that you don't need a big amp cranked up to get a big loud heavy sound. A lot of musicians back in the day sometimes used practice amps in the studio.
Endlich sehe ich Mal wieder was von dir ey. Geil :D
Wat? Ich lade seit Monaten jede Woche ein Video hoch 😄
These recording and production tips are awesome! With the capability of professional-grade sounds no longer limited to the expensive studios of old, it's enlightening to see knowledge being shared among fellow musicians to get recordings out there. Cheers.
I love your personality and content, Farvann! I always look forward to your videos.
Woah, it really sounds much cooler
thnak youuuu for this video. i learned new thing
Great Desaster shirt!
Gut gemacht!!
We need more tips like this brother ❤
Awesome riff🤘🏻
I like black metal, so please could u make a tutorial the other way around
Full song?
I did all 4 steps and it’s amazing
Remember to put the bass in the center, that's what really brings it all together
Thank you!
That was dope it reminds me of Dethklock a little
There you go
This is great!
You know, it's funny. The riffs where I do this sound like some of my best.
I have one riff that actually has 4 rhythm guitar parts, and a spicy bass part. And it sounds massive.
Not as cringy as his usual updates and this is actually quite helpful. 🤘
😂
Glenn Fricker and Andy Sneap can officially retire🎸🔥🎧😆
😂
You wont learn nothing from glenn anyways
@@preston2636 That man has proven so many things about recording with undeniable evidence. You would be an absolute idiot to not listen to him.
Sound like old Amon Amarth, cool
Great video
i can't play guitar, yet i still want Farvann to teach me how to improve my playing.
I don't make metal, but this has helped tremendously in my music shit. thanks mr.vann
I like how you used a split-coil pickup bass. I was actually planning on doing something similar to Dick Lövgren’s bass (Meshuggah) to get a better mid-EQ scoop. Very niiiice
Grande Juanes
Thank you
Good job
Dude right on we more shizza like this
I just started yesterday using reaper thanks
This riff is sick
Step 5: don't have the bass play the same as the guitars, come up with an actual bass line
That's a textbook Kalmah riff right there lol, I love it
i freaking love Hades
wow double tracking this is such new and groundbreaking information this was definitely a video that needed to be made, you’re so talented and insightful
🤣🤣
Thank you mate! I can totally see no irony at all and I love you!
Are you that retarded to where you need to make comments like this??? @Gutsfiend
Your sarcasm is as thick as a double tracked guitar
@@rogerwalker2224 😄
Yo man You almost nailed the sound from the Sodom's self titled album 😆
Don't know if that's supposed to be good or bad
@@Farvann Me neither. But the tone is okay. ;)
Bonus tip, if the bass plays root notes you can free up the panned rhythm guitars 💃🏼 and the bass can do something more independent
This was helpful!
You can achieve a similar effect using the same track. Just set one of your channels (L or R) to "inverse polarity". Useful if you're using virtual guitars too.
Man, especially when guitar riffs are based on simple chords, bass line isn’t just to repeat guitar riffs. It’s to highlight the harmony. But… still, thank you for mentioning of bass
He looks like max cavalera, James Labrie and Lemmy at the same time. And that my friend is an ultimate compliment.
This slaps
If only I seen this a year ago. I had to figure this shit out by myself.
They are mostly using four rhythim sections. Two of them are panned 100% L+R and the other two are panned 80% L&R. That's so damn brutal spicy with the "third" guitar in the middle😁
Is there a full version? That riff was sick!
I was waiting for a third guitar that destroys it all with trve necro black metal lo fi riffs 🤣
that's some actual good advice.
The drumssssssss,
Never found somebody that explains the drums part....
Yes but if you are going to be using this much distortion I would add a center mix with crunch with the volume rolled back a little this will clean up most of the muddy sounding notes that heavy distortion causes also make sure you record all tracks don’t try to copy-paste it the small deferences in each recording will provide a grander sound scape instead of just a wall of sound so happy recordings everyone 😁
100% left and 100% right helps like crazy
Step 6: EQ and MASTER the whole god damn thing!
True, but what can you do in a 60 second joke video?
@@Farvann he was prob referring to people who are recording, not you specifically
Pls pls pls pls pls make a tutorial for all the parts of this riff it sounds sooooooo goooood😂
Definitely when you have a time with a lot of treble. Multiple guitars work better.
Thank you for not overplaying the bass.
Super Nice
Now add a guy screaming "DRAKKAR, BLOOD, AXE, RAIDING" and you have an Amon Amarth song
No U GOOD JOB!
Sick riff.
Kinda reminds me of DethKlok
Look at this genius
😂
this is making a song sound better not the guitar itself
Add some preamp tone to that bass and you have a very delicious intro/verse
Metal god genius
Finally, someone who includes bass
Very hilarious youtuber shorts tutorial parody!
Or maybe not a parody?
Whatever it is it's very good
it sounds more metalcore to me
Saya baru menemukan hentakan yg luar biasa disini🔥🔥🔥
Step 6 Intonation, Step 7 play tight
And a lot of other steps, yes
Will try that on my album I'm working on
I LOVE MELODIC DEATH METAL
Totally did see step 2 coming, but totally missing the step with getting good drums. ;-)
Juanes. Is that you!
this is not generic AT ALL !
YES IT IS
@@Farvann Well than is a pretty good generic riff, better than most of melodeath bands kk
This is some sexy Amon Amarth-sounding loveliness.
"Generic Melodeath Riff"
Me: Still pretty damn good
And just like that - Death.
Try listening to slayer in mono and you'll see how effective this is
Numbers 4 is very Important!
my dad told me when i started making metal rifts'' you want to be a rockstar he said '' remember this with every riff you make would you listen to that''
Great, now I just need to learn guitar. And a guitar.
Спасибо мужик
“Don’t forget the bass” Proceeds to record with volume off😂
Use headphones!
I double my tracks but I don't have the means to split them. It still sounds heavier when you double a track with less distortion on each
Heck I do 40 left & 40 right
Switch the 3rd guitar part to bass guitar and have the 3rd guitar go up an octave or a fifth.
I do all these things and my music still turns out goth. Hmmm...
