However when you’re doing something like tire rotations or tire changes you don’t really want to start with going for Ford. I think this wrench might be discontinued, they had it for $179 or $199 last week and now none of my area stores have it and the ones 70 miles from me only have 1 or 2.
Or there is a shortage on parts that make it? Ford has shut down lines on their new F-150 cause of semi conductor chip shortage. Seems weird to discontinue a tool that isn't even a year old yet. I have one myself and while it is heavy, it's a beast and hasn't let me down yet.

I am a new subscriber to your channel. I am considering buying this impact wrench. Have you done a fastening torque test for this tool ( 24 volt 1/2 in. XTR)? And what were the results, and how do I get to the video? And thank you in advance.
Hi guys, Im new to power tools, but Im interested in learning; have any of you buyed or used or any of these brands: Hilti, Festool and Mafell? for what I have researched they seem to be very expensive and not very common, even here on YT there are not many videos.
Festool is usually either hated or loved, but usually even professionals don't think they're worth their asking price. Hilti is a different story. Their tools are very expensive as well, but they are also usually pretty top notch and are seriously durable and have a great reputation. I'm not familiar with Mafell unfortunately. In any case if you aren't a serious professional that needs top notch tools those brands are probably a waste of money. I'm assuming you're shopping for personal use, and I think Kobalt's XTR line is about as good as the big boys' best for a considerably lower price, though XTR is just a tiny bit of their power tool lineup right now. You also generally can't go wrong with standard big names like Milwaukee or Makita, but if you plan on buying anything from them I would recommend going for their high end tools. Lower tier tools are generally best from lower tier brands like Kobalt's standard line, Craftsman, or Ryobi. Just look around UA-cam some more and look for comparisons between different brands, and you'll pick it all up before long.
@@GuyFromJupiter cant thank you enough, my father and I are working on a project car, a rather old vw gti, and we think that for power tools, we will go for Milwaukee, here in my country they are pricy but have good technical support

Playing around in mode 1 for so many seconds just drains the battery. Who cares what mode it's in. All you need to know is the torque & how long it takes to loosen.
Me personally if I were to buy that particular impact about the only thing I would use it on is lug nuts realistically too bulky to use under the hood in the mountain would be stubborn suspension bolts or exhaust.
Bought this after watching a few UA-cam videos ,Main use was to tighten pinion Nuts enough to crush the crush collar on Differentials ,Very Dissappointed , It struggles on a 9" Ford rear and a 10 bolt Corperate [ these 2 rear have crush collars that aren't that tuff ]. Move onto a 12 bolt Chevy rear or A 63-79 corvette ,just doesn't have the power Back to using a 3/4 breaker bar and 3 ft pipe ,should have bought the M-18
He did a similar test with the Milwaukee Mid Torque and it broke 600 foot pounds pretty easily. It seems this high torque unit should've blown through 650 with ease. Maybe Kobalt overstated the specs?

This XTR pack has 2A charger with newer 4ah Ultimate battery VS Gen1 impact pack comes with older Extended 4ah battery with 4.5A fast charger. I think it is a big mismatch and only reason stopping me from buying this.
FYI, lots of impact wrenches, the different speed settings apply for fastening only. For example, for my dcf902 And 894, the only options are full power or precision wrench mode. While for fastening you got, low speed, high speed And precision wrench. Meanwhile the 899 the different speeds apply equally for fastening And loosening, with loosening hitting a bit harder through the modes. To my ears, speed 1 and 2 seemed to be hitting about equally fast. Making me believe that the different modes apply to fastening only. TL:DR, you were in mode 2, the whole time. As mode 1 is available for fastening only. Judging by my ears.
Using the adapter is limiting you too, gotta think about energy lost transferring from the anvil from the adapter, then finally into the socket. Skip the middle man, you really may be able to hit better numbers. Energy is being lost to heat here imo

Dewalt has the worse designs out of all of them, my favorite designs are from makita and snap-on, I love the snap-on design and I quite like the makita especially the purple tools
Anyone that has used an impact gun with an adapter like how you did, should know it dramatically reduces the power of the gun. By applying pressure to the back of the gun you will reduce the extra play you introduced by adding that adapter. Just get the right size socket.

Is the test going to be completed now that the torque multiplier is in?
I was able to pick one up for only $200!
Ha $179
Where, share link
@@JhonnyFitness2NV It was on sale at Lowe's but it's not anymore
I just picked this impact up bran new in box at a pawn shop for 100$ I think I got a good deal
That's a pretty good deal. Thanks for watching.
There supplies for the impact are low, that's why it's hard to get one now.
Got one at Lowe's in Fremont Ohio last week for 199 only 2 there
@@davehotz5169 I was the very first person (at least that's what the Lowe's employee told me) at my local Lowe's to buy the new XTR line. I paid $269 and it worth that price, kudos to you being able to snag it @ $199. That's a steal!
@@rototiller78 I work at lowes and the second this line arivved it was $199 until sold out then went to $269 but the other 1/4 impact and drill when to $134 and i think $159, promotion only lasts for so long
I think they added the 3 modes to come up with the 1200 FtLbs rating. Its not much stronger than the older model which was rated at 650 FtLbs.
Great experience Thank you

I'll tell you what. I have mostly milwaukee, ingersoll rand and atlas copco and kobalt battery powered tools and all of my kobalt tools are just as good as all the other ones.
I am a new subscriber to your channel. I am considering buying this impact wrench. Have you done a fastening torque test for this tool ( 24 volt 1/2 in. XTR)? And what were the results, and how do I get to the video? And thank you in advance.
What’s your opinion for the best bang for your buck 1/2” impact for the regular homeowner? Good video thank!
Probably the Kobalt or Ryobi HP. Thanks for watching.
You need to do a update on this now
I'm just lazy and I just wanna change my tires I'm sure this should be good enough.
Realistically mode one is really a 300# when you look at the length of time to break loose
@@jamdc2000 you can't go wrong with Milwaukee. I own Milwaukee 12v & 18v, Makita 18v, Bosch 18v, Metabo HPT 18v and 36v, Ryobi 18v and 40v, DeWALT 12v and 20v and Makita impact wrenches were a good deal last week. Milwaukee, Makita and DeWALT are top notch for car tools.
@@ricksgiggle8852 thanks mate, I'll try and save some money to take advantage of future sales
Wow! This is super Impressive!!
Take my 💵 💰
Tell me about it! Thanks for tuning in.
I think going to a junkyard would be a great test as well.
We may do that in the future. Thanks for watching.
Playing around in mode 1 for so many seconds just drains the battery. Who cares what mode it's in. All you need to know is the torque & how long it takes to loosen.
I was surprised that this wasn’t mentioned, perhaps reconvene after recharging for mode 2 & mode 3. Still a good test for just mode 1 alone.
I have some kobalt 24v max tools, are the batteries compatible with xtr tools?
Yes, the battery will work. Thanks for watching.
@@Shoptoolreviews thanks bro
Are you going to redo the test with the bigger bolts been waiting a while lol
I call it a Kaiser blade but some people call it a sling blade lol
Yup.....mmmhmmm
Jesse knows what your sayin!
I think it started moving in speed one at 659ft lbs
No torque handle? 🤔
Me personally if I were to buy that particular impact about the only thing I would use it on is lug nuts realistically too bulky to use under the hood in the mountain would be stubborn suspension bolts or exhaust.
We understand what you're saying. Thanks for watching.
They have a smaller version which does half the power this one has, but it's a mean lil' ol' thing.
Need to redo test with bigger bolts
How much is that Milwaukee?
@@rtgray7 it was on sale for $199 for a while at Home Depot. The normal price is $239.
@@rtgray7 that was the “tool-only” price.
It looks almost identical to the Makita high torque impact wrench from a couple yrs ago
Nope, it's not anything like the Makita. Thanks for watching.
Funny how looking back you can see xtr was a test bed for flex and how kobalt will abandon it eventually
Wow kolbolt paid the u-tubers big time on this one was looking for a review on a kolbalt ratchet and there were 1000 reviews on this... I'll leave my own review on this spend an extra few bucks and buy a Milwaukee!!!!!!
Was there something wrong with it?
This XTR pack has 2A charger with newer 4ah Ultimate battery VS Gen1 impact pack comes with older Extended 4ah battery with 4.5A fast charger. I think it is a big mismatch and only reason stopping me from buying this.
So what? A new charger is like $20, if you want the faster one.
LOL! That thing is huge! It’s like a race between Dewalt and Kobalt to see who can make the largest cordless tools.
I bought it because it looks like a fat shark
I enjoyed that,, thanks
Using the adapter is limiting you too, gotta think about energy lost transferring from the anvil from the adapter, then finally into the socket. Skip the middle man, you really may be able to hit better numbers. Energy is being lost to heat here imo
Been thinking on getting the earthquake from HF rn for today till tomorrow it’s on sale for 230 (normal price 280) but since that kobalt was a monster on just mode one I might have to jump on that instead . I can’t lie to myself the earthquake is dead they only have one battery they stopped making anything for it kobalt would be the best option
Kobalt is the best value in tools
Cool I have that impact. Good news for me
Can't wait to get rid of dragging around my air compressor
Thanks
I love that impact can’t be it for the money
That Kobalt is killing the new Dewalt 1/2 impact with the newest battery.
Kobalt>Dewalt
21700 battery cell on that new Kobalt battery.
I just wish these companies would get better designers. Hate the look of this thing it just looks cheap and like it was designed for a kid. Same with all my DeWalt stuff
That adapter is killing the break away torque
