I have had the 1/2" and 3/8" version of this for two years works good for the lighter not to rusted up stuff. I have 1.5 Ah, 2 Ah, and 4Ah 24V batterys. One thing I've found is it has more grunt with the 4 Ah battery over the other 2. I picked up the med size Kobalt 24V impact rated at 650 ft-lbs on sale it has most all the power I need these days for the bigger stuff but still use the lighter ones much of the time due to the weight. These newer brushless impacts have mostly retired my air impacts.
I'm very big into the Kobalt 24v battery system and have both the 1/2 inch and 3/8 impacts. Th e 3/8 had no problems taking a riding lawnmower engine of and swapping it with a bigger engine. The 1/2 inch had no problems taking off the lug nuts off a 3/4 ton Dodge truck. I've done videos on my channel of when I get new Kobalt tools in
@@Shoptoolreviews I have the larger 1/2 and the 1/2 XTR for when I need more torque but don't have air available or when I am too lazy to fire up the compressor.
It would be great to see the Kobalt mid torque compared to the Ridgid and Ryobi. Looking to get into one system for car work restoration ast home. Rachets and impacts. Recommends???
THX FOR THE VID ,,GETING ONE TODAY AT LOWES ,, BUT ILL BE USING THE 2AH 24V BATTERY ,, SHOULD I EXPECT LESS PERFORMANCE ? ,, THX JUST LIKED AND SUSCRIBED !!
I actually appreciate Kobalt for under scoring their breakaway torque considering Ryobi and Rigid always market over kill on their real torque specs. (Not shaming Ryobi or Rigid users.) 100 ft lbs is ALOT more than what you bargained for.
Sick impact! I don’t own kobalt 24 but do have the 40v outdoor tools and I couldn’t be happier. I do however own the dewalt 20v line and was impressed by your vid on the atomic impact driver which I have. Can you do the dewalt mid torque impact. Interested in buying one eventually
I wish it was but I went back and why lie I made up a lie on the impact, had the tool warranted out and the same issue. I wish now I could of kept the impact driver version.
Idk if my thinking/version is irrational but I did have rust on the nut. I think it does play a roll because you can do so much on a real life. If I had everything clean and lubricant maybe I would have achieved the same 200lbs like he did on the video
Could you review the Tacklife T20 1/2 impact wrench? (370 ftlbs) from Walmart? It's about the same size as that Kobalt and it comes in a kit for arround $60.00.
What is the torque on the lower settings? I know that my cordless drill just increases the ratio so the motor speed is the same but the chuck speed is reduced which actually increases the torque.
I see what you are doing right now. Working your way towards XTR. I am also surprised how it did when compared to its 3/8 right angle brother. I honestly feel that it needs to be taken into consideration that you are still getting your money's worth with the amount of torque it gives you and only time will tell how long it will last. This is what Makita needs to learn from Kobalt when it comes down to the anvil. Makita has one of the worst friction ring on the market.
@@Shoptoolreviews seriously 😂 I bought the new guys this and a drill so they stop using my fuel stuff and I have to say I’m pretty impressed performance for the money wise.
If you already have either brand go with the brand you already have. If neither I personally don't think you can do wrong with either. Both brands have a nice line up of tools as well.
That's not bad at all. I think Lowes has some of the worse advertising for their Kobalt line of tools ever. Who ever is responsible to for advertising there tools should be fired.
Agreed both my m12 1/2 inch and 3/8 inch stubby impact provides 250 ft lbs. Lighter stronger better. Milwaukee hands down, i personally sold all my dewalt 20 volt max and jumped hardcore into Milwaukee.
1st lol! I like kobalt but damn they cant even give there tools cool names. All we get are a bunch of letters and numbers. Frkn boring ass company. Awesome video! P.S. i bought the kobalt right angle impact wrench and i couldnt be happier but i did have a problem with it. The forward and back switch is loose and was shutting it down when i was trying to loosen nug nut. Idk maybe ill exchange it for another one but its kinda cheaply made so idk. I got a video on my channel about it
As a general comment, I think all of these different modes on impact wrenches are overrated. For what a impact wrench is typically used for a variable speed trigger does just about everything it needs.
Minor complaint: When transitioning from one scene to the next, you often repeat the same facts many times. Once or twice is fine, but sometimes it’s 5 times that you state a fact or a test protocol.
We understand, and it feels very redundant sometimes. Although, it seems if we don't repeat it, everyone calls us out for not explaining. Trying to find that happy medium, and sorry for the frustration. Thanks for watching.
I use tools everyday and I come home and watch his channel as not only homework but a way to mellow out. This channel is very thorough.

That's awesome. Glad these 24V Kobalts are working out for you. Thanks for the comments and thanks for watching.
I've had this 1/2 impact and 2 amp hr battery for a couple years now and it works well for me. I got just the impact at Lowes for $99
I love mine, I have this as my main impact.
Same here. Does the job so far. Love the Kobalt 24v and XTR tools.

Got one on sale for $59
I already have 2- 4 amp hour batteries.
I picked up this kobalt at lowes and yes plenty of power been impressed with this tool i recommend it you won't be disappointed
I love the hell out of that cordless torque multiplier he uses.
I have had mine for a while. It's nice for tight areas. Not as powerful as my stubby air impact but still works well.
Right on, it's not the strongest in the world, but it does get work done and fits in tighter spaces. Thanks for watching.
@@Shoptoolreviews I have the larger 1/2 and the 1/2 XTR for when I need more torque but don't have air available or when I am too lazy to fire up the compressor.
Finish mode is useful when installing bolts which then need to be torqued.
Hi FIRST TIME VIEWER HERE, like the video. will buy this tool because your information and demo. THnk you sir
I own one myself and it works great.
Once it got to 300 I knew this was the drill I was getting lol that's all the power I need
Great point. Thanks for watching.
Any plans on testing the updated version of these that are rated for 275?
They need to make an XTR version
Man many thanks great job as usual
Very good review. Awesome work.
Nice review as always
Great review.👍👍
You sir... have some badass tools!
Yes, we have a pretty sweet selection. ;) Thanks for watching.
Great testing
If you get time, do the test again with the 4ah xtr battery. It seems stronger with it. I would be interested to see the numbers with the xtr battery.
Will do!. Thanks for watching.

I wonder how the kobalt xtr impact driver does in this challenge !?

Im curious if the ultimate output battery would help in those tests?
Hi, excellent video ty so much, I want this tool it’s very impressive and very strong for a compact, regards, Bob,
Thank you. Yes, this is a very impressive tool for the size. Thanks for watching.

I had this impact. Awesome impact but it would not remove past 175inch pounds on my truck. Found out that the driver is better or the 3/8 version.
Huh? 175 inch/lb? Sounds like a defective tool, then...
I wish it was but I went back and why lie I made up a lie on the impact, had the tool warranted out and the same issue. I wish now I could of kept the impact driver version.

Very informative, gonna pick up Kolbolt compact impact wrench thx man thumb up & subscribed.

Hi, hope this helps. I use setting 2 when installing my lug nuts and it gets them to just short of 80 lb/ft.
@@wn5419 thank you for this. I was wondering the same to switch out blades on my scag - level 2 is exactly what I’m looking for torque-wise
bought the toool buit cant take off the lug nut on my suv . ill retunred it prob
Any chance you can review the Kobalt 24-Volt Max Li-ion 1/2-in Cordless Brushless Drill?
Good job as always 👍🇺🇸💯
Thanks 👍
That xtr 1/2 is coming soon ... Slowly getting there :)
for real?
Ya for real when
It also has bolt assistance
Wow the new Ryobi HP+ 1/2 unit smokes this. Can't wait to get that.
These are two totally different tools. The HP is a large tool, while this Kobalt is a Compact. Thanks for watching.
@@Shoptoolreviews Ah ok. I was under the impression that Ryobi's HP+ lineup is a compact tool. Looks similar in size that's why.
@@andrewduong5678swing and miss. Try and be informed next time
They have updated their website to 150 lb now instead of 200 lb
I got this one an the xtr an there great tools
Nice video. Can you set it stop at a set foot pounds for tightening? So you don't over torque
No, you cannot. Thanks for watching.
can you do the kobalt xtr 1/2 that sucker has some balls
How accurate is that electric torque wrench

This or the subcompact Impact Wrench from Ridgid?

This tool is $59 plus tax at Lowes right now. On clearance
I love mine
It's a great little impact. Thanks for watching.
Just got one.
Where do you get the torque impact?
It's a torque gun, not an impact wrench. They are from HYTORC, and our review is below.

As soon as I saw him throwing the tool aside like nothing, I stopped watching the video, apparently he doesn’t care about the tools
