I think you're thinking about Your reaction to the movie's bad shaking of the camera and overly loud, dull sound design. The gore was nothing to write home about. My senses were waiting for something impressive and it only came in the first 2 films from this franchise. From the 80's.

@@cyagami90 If you like creativity-stifled action-thrillers and lite drama with dull faux-serious conventions, _Evil Dead_ 2013 is fine. I'm a horror fan. HORROR is about style, atmosphere, intelligent content, ART rooted in actual proper movements like Gothic, German expressionism, Italian giallo, French Grand Guignol, etc. The groundbreaking directors of the 60's, 70's, and 80's (Bava, Romero, Craven, Argento, Cronenberg, Carpenter, etc) were all inspired by Art, literature, theater... they didn't DO cheap shitty remakes.
_Evil Dead_ 1981 is Horror. It's art.
_Evil Dead_ 2013 is Trash. Uninventive. Worthless.
This movie was the sole reason that eleven year old me was terrified of the dark and didn't want to be left alone for literal weeks. I was watching horror movies entirely too early lmao. Shoutout to my dad for always letting me watch them when my mom was gone 😂 10/10 remake though.

Seems like Evil Dead is that type of horror flick that will never leave your mind once you've watched it. The level of terror and trauma this has goes beyond our expectations. As always, ZZAVID never disappoints with his film choices. They're always worth the watch, regardless if you've watched it or not.
Try watching the original at 3 years old. I still remember how it ends! 😆😆 i also do not leave my windows open because I fear a demon might get in all because of that movie.

Fun fact, all the main character's names spell D.E.M.O.N. This movie is so crazy, gory and rotted, yet so creative. I mean the box cutter on the tongue still makes me flinch. Truly still one of my fav horror movies of the past decade.

Jane Levy really killed this role and showed her range imo, she was amazingly terrifying. This is one of the best remakes ever, I personally think part of it is bc Jane CARRIED it on her shoulders playing Mia. There’s suppose to be another Evil dead coming out in 2023!

It follow’s a lot of the original plot too…It’s clearly a modernized version and Bruce Campbell himself said it was all around a better movie and he enjoyed being included. I suppose it’s a matter of opinion, I wouldn’t consider it better then the original but definitely a great branch off and I am a huge Evil Dead fan. They wanted this version to be as gory as possible, the effects and production to be better than the original and they definitely achieved that. In comparison to most “remakes” or sequels, I would say this one did a fantastic job.

Years ago, the guy at the video store recommended this and Cabin in the Woods to my sister and she rented them both for us. Craziest double feature ever loool. The face slicing part still haunts me. But this has gotta be one of the best horror remakes ever imo. A modern classic ✨️

The movie was both a remake and reboot, but also a sequel. At the end we even get a cameo from Bruce Campbell as Ash. I believe it was meant to be a case of history repeating itself while setting up for Mia and Ash to meet in a future film.
Honestly, it's a wild ride and I loved it. And your reactions were top notch entertainment. Thank you for this.

Been a huge Evil Dead fan all my life and was rather concerned when the remake was announced. But once I watched I was very pleasantly surprised by how good it is. Dark, brutal, merciless, and intense.

I saw this on an acid trip once, turns out the whole demonic possession was an underlying theme about drug addiction. It was done very properly.

This is definitely in the hall of fame of good remakes, it's up there with the Part 2 for me. This one is more a mix of the dark tone of the 1st one and the over the top violence of the 2nd.

As weird as this may sound, this and the 2009 Friday the 13th are two of the best remakes/sequels I’ve seen. Both took beloved, schlocky 80s horror icons and modernized them into two of the most pants shitting terrifying villains to date.
Not to mention the practical effects in both, but particularly this movie, are brilliant.

Finally got around to watching this last month and really enjoyed it. I had heard about the blood rain scene for years and it definitely didn't disappoint. Tbh I put it off for so long because my only reference for the original Evil Dead movies was Army of Darkness lol. Luckily you can still enjoy the remake without seeing them. 🖤

the first time I watched this movie was totally by accident. I had just come home from school, at 13 P.M and HBO was streaming it. Istg, my parents considered suing them bc I couldn’t sleep for a week straight

My friend and I saw this opening night and it was this movie that I realized that I cant do gore. I was gagging and screaming ‘no’ from start to finish. I was stressed the ENTIRE time. My friend however, thought the movie was hilarious! She laughed the whole time 🥴
