A simple Greenhouse Build

- It was a simple enough build. I took my time and things went together ok. Not too many expletives and not too many injuries.
I have no association with Halls but i am very impressed with the quality of the design, build and the way the green house went together.
I take you through the complete build of the Halls Greenhouse. This model is the Forest Green Popular model. www.hallsgreenh...
This was supplied with the extension base kit and toughened glass. Very tough as i found out. The Cornwall wind found a way to bounce the glass past 6 metal clips and out on to the floor. fortunately, no damage!
Took my time on this one and built it at the start of March 2021.

I've been looking at a Halls greenhouse. I was considering whether to buy the base frame or not. I want to fix mine to some concrete slabs. Do you reckon I can fit the greenhouse directly on a timber frame or would you recommend buying the Halls base and then fixing that to some timber/directly into the slabs? If I buy the base frame I'd imagine I'll need to cut the long pieces off that are designed to go into the ground since I am building on slabs.
@@L-xw7sy hey, the greenhouse without a base is pretty low so going with ‘A’ base is pretty necessary. Fixing to a wooden base would be way easier. I’d like us, you’re in a gusty location u can then fix your wood to the slabs using only a couple of expanding bolts. Then fasten the greenhouse frame to your Battons. I just find wood easier to work than metal. Either should work though. Worth having a think to see which suits and which is more cost effective!
Which ever way you go, it will be a great growing place to play.

Oh Jim, your timing is incredible! I am just building out a replacement. This year I’ve had to work away since Jan so the whole veg plot & greenhouse got away from me. It will be back again for next growing season. This year though is something more in the line of construction.
Will deffo be back to it soon. As for a great source for veg ideas, have a look at my mate Laurence’s business: SoulFarm. He’s just just down the road from me and has made a living from salad and veg crops.

@@ItsAdventure Hello Rich. Your "building out a replacement", suggests the original is no longer with you. Did disaster strike? I've had a long running battle with mine just trying to keep it in one piece. Mine's not a 'Halls' by the way. Jim.
@@HomeGrownVeg Hey Jim, No disaster. Just no time! This 'work' malarkey keeps getting in the way of all the fun stuff. But back at the fun stuff for a while now! Having bolted the green house into the ground, It did quite well against the Cornish winds. Only had to replace 2 x panels from damage. Did double up on the glass clips though, which really helped!

The instructions from Halls are useless it is ridiculous when you think how much they charge for their green houses it's a photocopy of a photo copy and nothing more than 18 pages of smudge there are plenty of alternative Greenhouses out there who provide accurate instruction for assembly my advice is buy one of them !

The originals are available on the Halls website, and are much clearer. There are videos on UA-cam that help with the tricky birs i.e. vent and door.
