This is what I want to support. I bought the album so I can listen in my car and support the band but they still upload the FULL album (and every other one!!) to their UA-cam channel. Mad respect.
only a few realize thats how you gain new fans, youtube is the most easily shareable media platform, you can listen to it w/o registration, of course there are downsides, so may rip the audio in really bad quality from here and listen to it, but hey if you do that your ears deserve it! :D
My favorite song on the album. This is definitely the stand out track. The whole album is beautiful, but there's just something extra special about this one. It really goes back to their roots. Reminds me of the type of song that could've been on Transatlanticism
God so true. “And I wonder where you are tonight, if the one you’re with was a compromise.” Do any of us really get to be with our true love? Maybe some. Not me.
Death Cab continues to create innovative songs with an ethereal sound that is truly unique. Been a fan for a longtime and as a creative artist I find their music inspirational.
Thank you DCFC for being so great. Your music helps many of us get through the difficult parts of life. Saw you in SC. See you in Florida in January and February. You all be safe.God speed .
Sometimes I wake at night And watch the rain fall through the street lights 'Cause you're standing still in my mind Fading out, waving goodbye And I wonder where you are tonight If the one you're with was a compromise As we're walking lines in parallel That will never meet and it's just as well Sometimes I'm overcome By every choice I couldn't outrun The junctions all disappear You can't double back to your summer years And I wonder where you are tonight If the one you're with was a compromise As we're walking lines in parallel That will never meet and it's just as well And I wonder where you are tonight And if the one you're with was a compromise As we're walking lines in parallel That will never meet and it's just as well It's just as well And I wonder where you are tonight If the one you're with was a compromise As we're walking lines in parallel That will never meet and it's just as well And I wonder where you are tonight And if the one you're with was a compromise As we're walking lines in parallel That will never meet and it's just as well It's just as well
So much love for death cab! I almost doubled back while searching this song. Was going codes and keys, then Kintsugi. So underrated, just where I like em!
This song, Near/Far, Your Hurricane, and especially 60 and punk are instant classics. I really love where their music went without Walla. They still got it and are still my all time favorite band. Thank you for today indeed guys.
Here I listen Radiohead's weird fishes. But it truly feels like Death Cab for Cutie, and I love it. It is incredibly hard to succesfully do music in others band's style and still make it sound like you.
Finally Death Cab makes a new song that sounds like their old stuff which means it is an amazing tune. I gotta figure out which old Dcfc song this reminds me of. it is on the tip of my tongue right now
No fears please I have spiritual job takeing much of my time this is a big job going into deep waters everything is going fine another life is precious GODS work is always 1st have no FEAR
Joe Cordova the very beginning kind of sounded like Postal Service's Natural anthem to me, however the overall emotional dramatic reminds me somewhat of We Looked Like Giants.
Reminds me of someone I met 5 years ago.... we listened to dcfc together all of the time, the first person I actually loved, but it was such an abusive and toxic relationship, I fell out of love so I left, 3 years ago. Still had so many good memories with that person though.
Below is my album review that was the very first on Amazon: Posted by Sir Hex A Monumental DCFC Album! August 17, 2018 Verified Purchase Absolutely beautiful! Strong beats and ethereally atmospheric melodies. The entire album has such a refreshingly rich full sound with every track being unresistably danceable, the only possible exception being their signature last song, the often low key sign off at the end of their albums, like a freshly closed envelope with a warm solidifying wax seal connecting the parchment. I listened to it at work on headphones whilst wiring electrical panels. The other men working in the control house couldn't determine if I was listening to heavy metal or some hard hitting hip hop. That's just the way I move. (I headbang to Coldplay...) At only two songs in, I was almost moved to tears at the rhythmic serenity, but that composure finally gave a bit on track 05. Not necessarily for any personal reason, but just at the total immersion. I'd like to listen to it a second tyme at the gym later, but I have to say I'm kind nervous I might have an inappropriate emotional release in mid rep. From the moment a large door opens to another reality and you're greeted with the Robert Smith-esque pick solos of "I Dreamt We Spoke Again", and the chorus of "Summer Years" that seems to take you by the hand when the distortion guitar comes to haunt you, the perfectly mixed beat of "Gold Rush" that feels so uplifting thumping through the subwoofer, the pacing discussion of "Your Hurricane", the silent conversation on a tyme-stand-still road trip of "When We Drive", the rolling hills frolick through the leaves of "Autumn Love", bumping around a gentle mosh pit with virtual cascading personifications of each individual bass guitar and piano note of "Northern Lights", standing on the sidewalk watching the ghosts of others' conflictions on "You Moved Away", running with a group of close friends to reunite with a long lost friend on "Near Far", or as a deep embodiment of piano notes have you visiting the old record store you used to get those bootleg and imports from when you were a teen and recognising the same owner that saw you steal once in "60 & Punk"... This album is a tea cup ride in an abandonded carnival as the outside world spins around your own personal biosphere. It has been my opinion for over a decade that Ben Gibbard is one of the most underrated song writers of this generation. Sure, he's in an established band and doing very well, but there is magic in his pen that I've seen bewitch more people than most. I'm mostly a musical ear, sometymes even taking me years before I ever realise what a song is actually about. Not with DCFC. Ben's writing always has my attention from the first harmonic syllable. At the tyme I wrote this review, the album wouldn't be released until the following Friday, but was available for streaming at NPR Music's Twitter page. The band was eager to hear from their fans, and wants us all to tell them what our favourite songs are. I could have done that on Narrow Stairs. I could have done that on Codes and Keys.. and especially with Kintsugi. But not this album. Not yet. The best I can do is tell them my least favourite song on Thank You For Today, but that's something I will not do. It may present the misconception that I actually dislike something song on that album, and that would be far from the truth. "But I won't be the debris in your hurricane." -DCFC :epilogue:: Later that day at the gym, I did indeed listen to it two more tymes in a row. I was fine, but it did inspire me to go back into my notes and add that sentagraph leading you through the song progression. Obviously more of a psychological (or psychedelic) journey through the album rather than one translated from a literal interpretation of Ben's lyrics. If Amazon allows, I plan to add a second review with more of a straight forward, practical approach.
Oh this one is like a stab to the heart, but in the most musically pleasing way
This is the best death cab song of the past decade imo. The guitar is beautiful.
top 5 for sure
I wouldn't go as far to say that but it's one of the better songs on this album
Agreeeeed
My favorite is still No Room In Frame, but this is close.
I do not disapprove of yr point but I just wanted to say that all of their guitar parts are very, very beautiful
Okay, honestly I was just gonna stream this album, but NAH after listening I have to buy this and support these guys
I wanna stream for now but yeah, Death Cab's I always buy. I want them to make music forever! Music Gods!
This is what I want to support. I bought the album so I can listen in my car and support the band but they still upload the FULL album (and every other one!!) to their UA-cam channel. Mad respect.

I love to support my bands I love supporting my bands are underground need all the help they can.
All of their albums after “we have the facts and we’re voting yes” are the best ( except the photo album, which is good as well. )
low-key best song on the album
Jo Zeeland This and Your Hurricane wowed me.
Jo Zeeland more like high key for me
I love it! Also near/far and your hurricane stand out to me alot
As long are you're being "low-key" about it
My favorite song on the album. This is definitely the stand out track. The whole album is beautiful, but there's just something extra special about this one. It really goes back to their roots. Reminds me of the type of song that could've been on Transatlanticism
"Sometimes I'm overcome by every choice I couldn't outrun."
💔
This song takes me back to old school death cab for cutie.
Holy shit I came to the comment section to make this exact statement.
Yeah....they are doing it now....so they are doing the music they did before...
Jes! Oldschool! Top Song!!!!
God so true.
“And I wonder where you are tonight, if the one you’re with was a compromise.”
Do any of us really get to be with our true love? Maybe some. Not me.
"Sometimes I'm overcome, by every choice I couldn't out run". This song is both nostalgic and heart wrenching to me.
I know how you feel
Sad thing is, the one she's with was a compromise. She didn't want to be with someone else either.
I discovered this song right around the time I found out mine was cheating on me. Feels are known.
Yeah dude, I gotta admit, not me either
Death Cab continues to create innovative songs with an ethereal sound that is truly unique. Been a fan for a longtime and as a creative artist I find their music inspirational.
If someone releases an instrumental version for this amazing song I'd definitely pay for it!
I remember listening to this song randomly in a flight and man, I've been hooked to this song for years. Forever grateful guys, amazing work!
Thank you DCFC for being so great. Your music helps many of us get through the difficult parts of life. Saw you in SC. See you in Florida in January and February. You all be safe.God speed .
After hearing the first 10 seconds and literally already knew I was gonna be in love with this.
Another stunning work of art from my favorite band 💛💛 in love with this album and this piece in particular
This song makes me think of my childhood sm miss it sm tbh
Those descending electric piano lines during the chorus are a great touch.
Sometimes I wake at night
And watch the rain fall through the street lights
'Cause you're standing still in my mind
Fading out, waving goodbye
And I wonder where you are tonight
If the one you're with was a compromise
As we're walking lines in parallel
That will never meet and it's just as well
Sometimes I'm overcome
By every choice I couldn't outrun
The junctions all disappear
You can't double back to your summer years
And I wonder where you are tonight
If the one you're with was a compromise
As we're walking lines in parallel
That will never meet and it's just as well
And I wonder where you are tonight
And if the one you're with was a compromise
As we're walking lines in parallel
That will never meet and it's just as well
It's just as well
And I wonder where you are tonight
If the one you're with was a compromise
As we're walking lines in parallel
That will never meet and it's just as well
And I wonder where you are tonight
And if the one you're with was a compromise
As we're walking lines in parallel
That will never meet and it's just as well
It's just as well
So much love for death cab! I almost doubled back while searching this song. Was going codes and keys, then Kintsugi. So underrated, just where I like em!
I know the whole album by heart. Omg 💛💛
Theresa Stephenson dang! A true dedicated fan ❤️❤️
VyVy Bg thank you !! My kids even know it ! Been a fan since 01 and seen them 4 times , including postal service. Xoxo
Theresa Stephenson wowwwieee!!! Lucky!!! What a cool mom :>
I think this is one of the most important songs death cab has ever wrote. But thats just me.
So so underrated
my fave song from the album so far.
Another exceptionally tasty groove by Jason M
Beautiful. 💯💙
heard this song for the first time with my friend driving and it brought tears to my eyes..in a good way..life is elevated by good music
This is my favorite song from the new album! 💕
What a beautifully painful punch in the gut...Also love how Robert Smith-y the atmosphere + guitars sound.
more like The Smiths, even the guitar is very similar to Marr's, and the vocalist to Morrissey...
Actually sounds like a Cure and New Order mix, with Neil Tennant of Pet Shop Boys on vocals
Great song! Bens vocals almost sound like Neil Tennant.
This is amazing! Thank you so much for sharing your creativity with the world
"You can't double back to your summer years." 😭
Crushing
“So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.”
“You can’t repeat the past? No. Of course you can.”
Starting @ 3:03: Amazing!
I fully agree. That dark/muddy sounding guitar.
Never thought I'd want to breakdance to a Deathcab song but here we are.
This song reminds me of flying out of Honolulu, HI at night.
This album is really taking me back to the old death cab.. love it.
This song, Near/Far, Your Hurricane, and especially 60 and punk are instant classics. I really love where their music went without Walla. They still got it and are still my all time favorite band. Thank you for today indeed guys.
this band never stops to amaze me
Love this one!
Deserves more recognition
Such a great song and album!
I shed a few tears to this one!!
This guy have exactly the same voice as Neil Tennant from Pet Shop Boys
Pet Shop Boys should cover this song - it would be amazing!
such a good song
Thom Yorke: In the deepest oce- Oh...not my song.
Yess!! I thought exactly the same thing weird fishes for sure. The tempo. Frantic drum beat throughout. Arpeggios.
Naaah
lmfao. thought the exact same
Weird fishes
Here I listen Radiohead's weird fishes.
But it truly feels like Death Cab for Cutie, and I love it. It is incredibly hard to succesfully do music in others band's style and still make it sound like you.
THANK YOU
FOR TODAY 👍
Finally Death Cab makes a new song that sounds like their old stuff which means it is an amazing tune. I gotta figure out which old Dcfc song this reminds me of. it is on the tip of my tongue right now
Brettskee we laugh indoors
This one hits the feels
Great song! I heard it the first time and was totally smitten. Sounds like a mix of the Pet Shop Boys, New Order and the Lightning seeds. Nice
THANK YOU DCFC FOR THE MUSIC OVER THE YEARS
🔥🔥❤
Wow!
thank God Death Cab still has it! Man this was awesome!
Anyone else hear the similarities to Neil Tennant of Pet Shop Boys?
saturnfreeway now that you mention it,I actually pick it up
PSB was the first thing in my mind here:-)
Yes! Came here to say this
Of course, the voice is the same !!! I thought it was the Pet Shop.....
Yes! I thought it was just me too
Idk why but it makes me cry every time
Just wondering about this now that I listen I love them!!
❤If you look at life as a year of 12 months it’s maybe June. Summer can go on till October. So the best is probably just ahead❤
Love Death cab for cutie 💿🎧 so peaceful to listen to...
Peaceful and melancholic
I love that this album is more raw than the previous one and at the same time it still has that new progressive "electronic" spice.
OH MY GODDD THIS IS PERFECTION I WASNT READY FOR THIS IM DEAD
Best DC4C song....it’s so DC4C
Setting the trend (not following) since day one. Righteous my dudes😍
I like dis
I love Death Cab for Cutie!!
Here from Don't Dream About Me❤🔥
YES YES YES FINALLY...
That beat is dope man! but really nice song!
Trop bon
The percussion on this track reminds me of Weird Fishes/Arpeggi by Radiohead
Gopled nailed it
The whole song structure TBH, I doubt this is casual, it's gotta be direct nod of fandom to Radiohead
Yeah, I reckon you are right. Wonder what Thom Yorke thinks
“So I will meet you at
The intersect
And we’ll cross paths
And never know it”
#BlindLove
"And I wonder where you are tonight and if the one you're with was a compromise?"
Good job, Death Cab for Cutie!
Can’t wait to DCFC 10/17/18 at The Anthem! Only 3 more sleeps!
I hear Radiohead - Weird Fishes/Arpeggi
interestingly that's Ben's favorite radiohead song, read it in an interview.
Thiago Alves totally what I thought
Yes and I love it
SAME OMG
Ahh! I hear it too, can't unhear.
❤️❤️❤️❤️
No fears please I have spiritual job takeing much of my time this is a big job going into deep waters everything is going fine another life is precious GODS work is always 1st have no FEAR
Every track I've heard from this new album is a winner... Far better than the disappointing Kintsugi album and a real return to form.
Who else can't stop listening?
Sounds like the other perspective of Cath
Que bonita
Jesus, dear God in Heaven...that moment when you realize no matter how hard you try you will never write a song more about your life than DCFC.
The chorus sounds so familiar like another song I've hear and It's driving me mad! What song is that?
Joe Cordova Idk about the chorus but the song kind of reminds me of little wanderer
Joe Cordova the very beginning kind of sounded like Postal Service's Natural anthem to me, however the overall emotional dramatic reminds me somewhat of We Looked Like Giants.
Something about it sounds like a track off Pet Shop Boys Behaviour album.
I love this voice, is like Pet Shop Boys singer
Me recuerda la voz del cantante a la de pet shot boys
Reminds me of Something About Airplanes
Yay new one!! I don't have the album yet. Where is it streaming at? I cannot find it on Spotify!
It is on now ;)
Just smoked a good blunt and this song is so fucking amazing.
Reminds me of someone I met 5 years ago.... we listened to dcfc together all of the time, the first person I actually loved, but it was such an abusive and toxic relationship, I fell out of love so I left, 3 years ago. Still had so many good memories with that person though.
LttP Dungeon theme hidden in this song.
Does anyone has the tab for this song plz?
Reminds me of the Pet Shop Boys

Pet Shop Boys
This song always seemed to have some kind of relation to Summer Skin for some reason.
Fibbers sounds like the pet shop boys singer in this one
BigPurpleDino glad someone noticed
Anyone else hear Postal Service - Natural Anthem in that intro?
jonoprill my first thought!
