Making Plasma Cutting & Circle Track

  • To make this tool I used a 12v motor from car wipers, and electromagnetic locks with a force of 240 kg each. The machine can cut lengths and cut circles, I can cut with this machine with a plasma and a gas burner.

    I never thought I'd say this, or that another channel would be able to do it, but you're now #1 moving Made in Poland to #2 in my favorites lineup.
    Starting with the content, your insight/designs, the editing, + no loud music, cussing, or talk/talk/talk; even less ads. Imo it's perfect. I hope you never
    lose your strength or desire to design/build, or to do what it takes to create these videos that we enjoy so much. *Thank you and God bless.*

I'm glad that there is someone who can appreciate my work 😀 But in my opinion, the guys from "Made in Poland" are in the first place, not only that they do great work, but also they were and are my inspiration, They are also my friends, And Darek's ingenuity knows no bounds 😁

    Great project! Add a "Y" axis and a couple of DRO's you could do some very precise located circles, or even just go a little farther and make a CNC plasma torch. Lots of options. Very nice job!

  • @melgross
    @melgross Рік тому +1

    Damn, brilliantly done! I don’t have the need for it as much as you do, but this is as close to a plasma table as you can get for a portable unit. If you could figure out how to do an X-Y move, you could sell as one. That I could use.

    I had not expected to see a person build a CNC type of rig . Just a radius tool but you impressed even though I watched to see a clever jig and it turned into a machine that needs its own house. Now I have no idea how to copy it but the cup that holds the handpiece is locked in. May return to check details if I use that idea. 💡? Very cool device. To techy for a man like me but takes nothing from the genius employed.

      Зачем использовать дорогие запчасти, упрости, ну без плазменного резака не обойдешься, а без длинного вала с резьбой и шлифованных валов обойтись можно, взять две квадратные трубы 20х20, вместо дорогого резьбового вала, монтажную резьбовую шпильку с резьбой 12 или 16 мм и к ней привод из моторчика от дворников, вручную не надо будет крутить горизонтальное перемещение. Моторчики от дворников, взять с автомобильной свалки.

    Nice job, beautifully machined parts!
    I have some feedback in terms of mechanical design! There is a very big overconstrained problem with the carriage. Firstly, both of the linear guide rails constrain the same degrees of freedom. A single linear guide rod constrains all DOF except the rotation about its axis and translation along it. The addition of a second rod removes the rotation about the rods axis of movement, but at the same time introduces overconstraints in all other directions (lets call X axis the travel direction, y-axis the vertical axis and Z 'out of plane' axis, then it would introduce overconstraints in the translation of Y and Z, plus rotation about the Z axis).
    What this effectively means is that your design is extremely dependent on the alignment of the rods for how smooth it travels. Because everything cannot be perfectly aligned, there's a lot of internal stresses, which puts a lot of unnecessary forces/torques on the bearings which means they will wear out much faster. You can imagine that if the distance between the rods changes over the travel, that you might be too close together on one side, and too far apart on the other.
    This same problem also exists with the ballscrew you use to drive this stage. Because it is rigidly attached at all points, it acts as an additional linear guide rod, which makes the overconstraint even worse. Ideally you only want to couple translation in the X axis (the movement you desire) and resist the rotation about the X-axis (which is caused by the screw motion), and release all degrees of freedom for translation in the Y, Z axis, and rotation about the Z and Y axis.
    If you are interested in this kind of stuff, which allows you to design machines even better, I recommend the book "exact constraint machine design" by Douglas Blanding.
