- Another episode of A Day In The Shop with Howard Zane and I. Today I show you the O scale Firehouse I built inspired by Howard's HO design he did for a client. Dormers were added because the men sleep on the second level and a large crew is needed to protect my O scale layout since there is only 1 firehouse. Al's weathering and finishing of his O scale firehouse roof got an A+ from me. Please remember that Al built a really nice HO pike prior to his apprenticeship with me and is rated as a fine modeler and then some! We are working only with basics......#11 blade, straight edge & ruler, sandpaper, spray paint, and Goo. If I had to program and use lasers and 3D printing, I would not be doing this, and Al is from the same thinking. Personally, I have no use for any modern doohickey as fine art then becomes production. Al and I are about the fine art in designing and building structures. I have no problem with modern day medical stuff, as my life was saved several times by Hi-tech procedures. The feelings of accomplishment from working with your own designs does not even come close to building a kit with someone else's designs and instructions. Al is a fine builder and the emphasis in his program is to learn design and then construct from drawings or ideas.

Howard mentioned a friend from Lake Hopatcong. That where I grew up. It was nice to hear. Not there anymore but I had to back up the video to make sure that’s what he said
Yowzah! Rattle Snakes in a church!? I do not blame Howard for going "Stage Left". --------------- I digress. The two fire stations are FANTASTIC as well as the church. His imagination has no bounds.
There is a preacher in the south , I think West Virginia that has a timber rather as part of his sermon , he has been bitten so many times , he is immune .
