When was the last time you used the Law of Indirect Effort and what was the outcome?

I have often felt that by making the conversation more about 'them' and less about 'me', I have been able to gain more trust. I didn't realize there was a name for it though 😂

Today my friend was feeling down and going on about how she feels like her boyfriend is not putting effort and so on. It was all negative comments and in a way I was agreeing with most of it. Then I had a flash back of when her boyfriend was saying nice things to a group of us about her. And turned around and told her that and all of the sudden I could feel the love rather than hate and sadness.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge Brian. Today after listening to you, I called a friend and ask her how she was. I praised her work done on the project she was working on and wish her to have a good weekend. Our moods were lifted and the conversation left me with a smile in my face. Thanks again Brian.

I truly care about people and help wherever I can. I’ve needed a CV only twice in my life. I’m almost 60 years old now. I’ve been offered a good job very often.
I have a grumpy young neighbor who is one of my pupils. He scolded me (!) when I told him that I had met a foreigner in the street and had talked to him. It had been interesting for me but my neighbor asked why I even cared about a stranger. (!)
The funny thing is, he didn’t notice that I had talked with him as well when he had moved in and he had asked me to help him learn German and English. 😝

Great to see the original BT on a vid, rather than a cartoon.
'The Great Little Book on Personal Achievement' is an all time favorite! I've summarized, consolidated and absorbed most of it to the point of instinct.

Brian, I am going to try your indirect method. I have a co-worker with not much experience. I have retired from the same job where I worked for 25 years, and I’m starting again in another state. We are hitting some bumps.
I loved your “No Excuses” book. Most evenings, I put in one or two extra hours of work. You wouldn’t believe my change in lifestyle since doing this. I moved across country and live in a place of with a lower cost of living. Your advice helped me acquire a beautiful new home and a beautiful new place of employment. I didn’t think I could improve my life. I thought I was stuck there. Not true. Our house sold in one day!!!
Thanks very much for your motivation. I’ve greatly improved my self-discipline from reading your book. I hope you are feeling well.
    You’re the best! 🙂❤

I am always able to relate to all your advices but this one I am not very clear. I have tried praising some people genuinely for what I like about them or their abilities, but sometimes they take it as if it's because I lack those qualities in me that I admire in them and they start to dictate me on how I should go about
