What are some things you can do to understand your audience before you begin speaking to them?

Thank you so much Mr. Tracy. That's very helpful.
In answer to your question, I'd like to know -
      1. What is the demographic of the audience ? Esp. the age group. Different age groups use different vocabularies.
      2. How many are expected to attend? The numbers will decide the seating pattern and how the environment affects them.
      3. How will the audience use the main message of my talk? The practicality of the topic can inform me how to interact.
      4. What do the audience already know? This helps how high I can pitch the complexity of the talk.
      5. What technological advances do the audience use to communicate among themselves. So asking someone from the audience well before the communication event helps, because I can then learn from them how to use technology to communicate more effectively.

Before discussion with anyone I am trying to gather as much information as possible from different Social Media Sites like Liknedin about the person and if the Contact person is unknown then about the company.

The greatest regret is not trying and failing but it is not to trying at allFunny enough people aspire to emulate great investors and entrepreneurs, of our time but they only see their wins
and achievements and they careless about their
challenges and failures during multiple trials and the
      lesson it teaches

I wouldn't agree less but a times we are influenced based on result of what will see and experience, failure at first try doesn't mean it is over but unfortunately people seems to back off when they have experiences some obstacle or failure along the way

You have to recognize you need an expert that
understands how to read the market so you can avoid
winning today and losing tomorrow. There's reason why experts like Mrs Blossom wins all the time,I was a bit skeptical but she
Kept encouraging me to invest and it turn out very
      successful

Great video, good to see you posting again. For me, I need to do a better job listening to others. I often insert my life experiences in conversations trying to relate to them but it is not needed in some settings. I am actively working to stop doing that and focus more on the other person.

Q:- What are some things you can do to understand your audience before you begin speaking to them?
In my opinion I will first check the age group, and occupation of the audience and then do some internet research according to them. I will enter the hall before my speech and try to find out the level of understand of my audience.

Hi Brian, you have a famous Irish name. So you come from good stock! You asked for suggestions. We'll, many many, mons ago, when I was in my teens. I went for a job in Dublin, a car salesman, and interviewed by two guys. I later found out, one, was the Ower, Sean McGinty, and his son. They asked me a few simple questions, and I began until, Sean, interrupted me and said let's have coffee. During the coffee break, Sean put his hand on my shoulder and said gently, "I'm sorry to say, we won't be hiring you. And I want to give a little advise, to take away, because, your still young lad. You unfortunately have two major problems. One you speak to fast. Two, you ramble on to much, and the other, I recommend you get elocution lessons. I hardly understood a word you said. Now, what sport to you play?"
I learned more from that man in one hour, who unfortunately has passed way, than I did the previous 19.
