JazReviews great review, man
JazReviews bloodborne has the level design that the first dark souls had. complex with alot of shortcuts and side roads. wich is amazing
Theres so many secrets in bloodborne. The snow castle i found by accident blew me away!
Yup. My favorite area in the game too
CollectorFanatic101 if there's snow, I love it haha
Great review! I just started re-rolling my second character and I'm still having a blast with the game. The 9.5 is right on in my opinion.
A great review made in that Jaz style that i simply love! Keep it up man, and keep them subs coming!
Lovely review Jaz. I haven't had a chance to get seriously into this game yet, but what I've played so far has been great. Challenging as balls, but great
Such an amazing voice of which I could listen to for days on end...
OMG Jazreviews '+'ed my comment

TiaE576 I...
JazReviews I think you're extremely creeped out I know I am
The only thing this game doesn't have is the first trophy when you die I wished they added it in this new game as an greeting to new players
why would you reward failure?
Hey, I might have a game for you to review. How about cities: Skyline?
1st game I'm gettin on ps4, thanks for the review
Literally every Bloodborne video I've ever watched there is always at least one person in the comments spewing inane bullshit about how "bad" Bloodborne is without any evidence or examples, most of whom never even played the game. For fucks sake, stop trying to deter new players from trying out BB because you're still pissed off it's a ps4 exclusive. It's just stupid.
TheArnoldification (sorry for the really late reply)
i agree; in fact, i would personally consider the Souls games as a Playstation franchise, seeing as Demon's Souls was a PS3 exclusive and how Bloodborne is a PS4 exclusive. what really bothers me is how everyone has either forgotten or outright ignored Demon's Souls entirely, and praise Dark Souls instead. i know that Dark Souls was more popular due to it being multi-platform, but why are poeple calling it "the most important game to be released this generation" when Demon's Souls was the first to do the whole punishing but rewarding role-playing thing?
idk, ive always had a problem with people forgetting or ignoring about a game's predecessor in favor of praising the sequel :/
5persondude Demon souls was not the first game to be a punishing-but-rewarding RPG, not by a long shot. Granted, it came out when the future of gaming was kind of bleak (2008/early 2009 was a really bad time for games in general) so it's understandable if it looked like the best thing ever to you at the time. Personally, I still like demon souls but less so now than before. I had done palythroughs of the game rather recently, and I can confidently say it's the easiest souls game next to dark souls 2. It also severely lacks polish. Granted it still personally blows most games out of the water (and I prefer it to dark souls 2 still) but a lot of what people say about demon souls seems to be more nostalgia-driven than anything. Dark souls 1 added a lot of new things. If it makes sense, the difference between demon souls and dark souls mainly resides in how mechanics "fit" into the world. In dark souls' case, everything that is in that game makes sense in the context of the lore itself. As for demon souls, while it is unlike anything I've seen in previous games, is clearly experimental and lacks polish. If you think about it, and have played it recently, you may come to realize that demon souls is also a pretty short game; I can reliably beat it in 4-5 hours while taking my time (that is, if I beeline for the DBS.)
Demons souls certainly does have some features that would justifiably be someone's personal favorite souls game (e.g. the atmosphere) but I think a good portion of what people say about the game is based on the experiences they've had with the game years ago.
tl;dr both games - demons souls and dark souls 1 - can be considered very positive impacts to gaming due to their innovation and overall care and quality that went into them. It is true that demon souls is what started it all, but dark souls is sort of the "canon" souls series at this point, if that makes any sense. It is neither right or wrong to call dark souls "the most important game of this generation", just opinion.
6:10 That actually was a shortcut. They patched it along with other skips. In this one you had to go a bit more to your left and then after falling reblog when you hit the ground
This channel deserves WAY more subs.
Brilliant review mate!
I have the game and it is just amazing. I love playing it and learning new ways to take down my foes.
9.5? yea, i'd rate it that indeed as well.
the loading screens are a PAIN to deal with, and framerate drops indeed are killing me at points, but other then that. it's a really solid and great game.
Thanks jazreviews for that comment about subscriptions not showing at the end of your video, been missing out on your vids for months now because I assumed you were taking a break...
Now I have some catching up to do.
flamefromHalo Thanks for letting me know also, it is annoying that UA-cam are failing both the producer and subscriber.
wow this looks promising.. thanks jaz :)
fire arms are meant for damage as well but for a specific build
Awesome review man
Awesome review!
I completely agree and I have a big feeling that this could be a GOTY contender
Hey jaz I remember i commented on one of your videos asking if you were going to review this game! you said you didnt know but here you go! great review! im thinking about picking it up! Thanks for the vid! Next game you should review is mortal kombat x!
from software you have done it again epic great review
great review
and by the whey love your vids
As someone who played Dark Souls with a shield the first time and then about 8x without a shield or blocking at all I can say that the enemies dont looks faster than the fastest enemies in Dark Souls. PvP looks faster but thats about it.
You should be getting a lot more views. I have never watched a more honest review channel.
I can't get past the solomon grundy guy on the bridge with the two werewolves.... :( short cut or no short cut)
Thanks for the review, I love your videos :)
P.S. Bloodborne = GotY ;)
Hey jaz great review. How do u equip the caryall ruines mate thanks
thankfully most of the issues in the game were fixed
One complaint: spectres system is 100% broken. Aside from that, the game is 100/100
"Reeks of Elderly."
Let be on PC that is my dream for this game
This guy's speech pattern is like music
the only complaints i have with this game are the same as yours.
the painfully loading screen times and crippling slowdown (which can get brutal in some of the chalice dungeons) are the only things that take me out of the experience.
and, if im honest, i think i would have preferd an estus style healing mechanic, rather than having to go and grind for some more items everytime i get in a pinch, but thats just my preference
PS ace review dude ;)
At 8:46 when he dodges the character vanishes in smoke for a moment, what causes this?
***** Its an item forgot the name, but lets you dodge in a smoke effect.
splendid!
okay I think I am gonna buy bloodborn
What connection does Demon's Souls, Darksouls and Bloodborne have? Other than the developer and the combat difficulty? Why is it called the spiritual successor?
It has alot of throwbacks and nudges to both dark souls and demons souls
fuck i wish this was multiplatform....
W
Why do u have the Lunchbox one orbthe wii troll
smidget whittington Agreed. From Software kinda screwed over the PC and Xbox fan base developed from Dark Souls/Dark Souls 2's multi-platform availability.
***** actually FromSoftware made demons souls only for playstation(miyazaki is a playstation fanboy) and every one was jelous how amazing the game was who didnt have a ps3, so FromSoftware made Darksouls for every one to enjoy plus there is thories that bloodborne is a sequal to demons souls because the lour kinda adds up. Namco is a multiplatform copany (darksouls) and JapanStudio is a playstation studio company (Demons/BoodB) So From didnt screw PC and Xbox, they just didnt care about them in the first place. DarkSouls is the pacifier for other consols. From probably made money off other consoles to fund bloodborne wich is kinda genius.
It looks good and plays tight just like all the Souls games. But there are some things that everyone seem to overlook or forget. Loading times are so long that the loading screen has to remind you what game you're playing. The new regain mechanic promotes R1 Spam. The PvP Connection wise is so unreliable that I dare say it's "Broken".
PvP also suffers from the regain mechanics Spam promotion. And there are simply not enough weapons. Going from 200+ Weapons in Dark Souls 2, to a measly 15 in Bloodborne is just... disapointing. And you could say that each trick weapons is 2 in 1, well that still only makes 30 weapons.
A sizable proportion of the bosses are "Wolf" enemies of some kind.
And lastly, the 90% of the game looks the same. The only areas that really stand out are the forest, Nightmare Frontier and Cainhurst Castle. Aside from those there are just generic spikey buildings at every turn.
LOL. The load times are seriously not that bad. Besides, theres a patch coming for them. Thats the only thing you can possibly harp on it. The weapons dude are amazing. Theres a weapon for everyone in the game. Yea dark souls had 200 weapons but how many of them were completely worthless. Lets be honest, most people used maybe, 4-5 weapons through the game. once you found one that you liked you upgraded it to +10 and that was it. Youre literally nit picking the game over dumb shit
CollectorFanatic101 And the patch is out. The game now has Demon's Souls loading times and the matchmaking apparently works much better.
you need more views
Game with no story line no direction no player feedback. 10/10
Any other series 0/10
this is dark souls for the ps4 quite literally
Really???? 9.5???? That's pretty generous dude o.o
Please INTRO SONG
I love challenges in games and bloodborne is definitely hard.
The only problem I have with the game is the repetitive gameplay and the unforgivabley long loadings.
Repetitive gameplay? Are you serious? The gameplay is near perfect and isn't repetitive at all.
Kill enemies, get bloodpoints to get better weapons/armour so you can kill more.
Feels repetitive to me
Billy Red well when you say that you make any game sound repetitive.
The last of us- kill some enemies, find supplies, make it to the next area.
God of war- brutally kill enemies to brutally kill boss.
The legend of Zelda- make it through the dungeon to get the stone and item required to progress.... see where I'm going here?
Yeah, plus you only explained the progression system, you completely left out the combat, the character building, enemy variety, setting, music, and PvP
Dakota Wilson Yup, video games are pointless.
where are you from
Just asking, is Bloodborne good for beginners who never played a Souls game before?
Blaine Schembri
yes I think it is. but let me elaborate:
it is just as good an introduction to fromsoftware/ souls games as any of the other titles since they all have unique mechanics but a similiar core concept (apart from DS2). they all are challenging and difficult but (almost) never unfair, to progress in any of those games you have to be willing to learn from your mistakes/ deaths and improve constantly, they don't give you a helping hand (in most situations at least) or show you any mercy but they all are amazing games (again excluding DS2) and well worth your time.
Blood borne is a faster, more aggressive game than Dark Souls or Demon Souls but imho it isn't any worse an introduction than the other two games, just a slightly different one.
but just a word of warning: don't buy the game if you can't analyse and improve your gameplay/ learn from deaths or are easily frustrated, fromsoftware tends to create masterpieces of games but they certainly aren't easy to get into if you blame deaths on the game and don't learn from them
AsgardianShadow I take it you disliked DS2. However, there are many other who did enjoy it, like myself. I personally prefer it over the first one. Nevertheless, it is all up to one's own taste. That is why I do not think you should dissuade anyone from the game. All 4 of the games are wonderful, and it is up to the individual to decide his or her preferences.
Zach Morrow AsgardianShadow Thanks guys, you did all the talking I was gonna do :)
Blaine Schembri ~~ Exactly what they said, good advice.
yea i was a beginner and i loved it
Zach Morrow
yes, I didn't like DS2 as much as the other 3 games of the franchise, I feel there where some really poor design choices made in the game where it has a lot more "unfair" sections where the level designers seemed to think that just throwing a bazillion enemies at once at the player was challenging or hard (e.g. undead crypt: the hallway to the boss room with 12 syan knights that all link and get pulled at the same time) and the largely bland and uninspired boss design (large dude with sword/halberd/spear/hammer and shield). The weird poise system that didn't really work didn't help either so for me it is the worst/poorest of the souls games but I'm glad that you could enjoy it :)
I bet they still can't figure out how to fix the 60fps weapon durability glitch, so they have to lock the game at 30. How can they be so good at making a video game, and so bad at basic programming...
AWESOME review ;)
If you never played the Soul games bloodborne should be fine. You will rage quit a lot and won't know where to go but that is what farming and UA-cam are for
So, in your opinion, a horrid sub 30 framerate,a schizophrenic camera combined with tight enclosed areas, and horrible netcode makes for a masterpiece?
If anything, Bloodborne is the perfect example of a studio that can never get to fixing the core systems of their games, rather than going out and tacking on more stuff. Most of the difficulty in the games that fromsoft churn out comes from the fact that some of the core mechanics are inconsistent, forcing the players to waste their time fighting the same enemies over and over, or for prolonged spans of time, rather than testing their mental acuity or mechanical skills (such as the camera locking on to a 'strange' part of the bosses model, causing the camera to flip around all the time when combined with fast dash moves the series is known for, causing the player to be hit or miss because the designer could not realize that such a camera requires a certain design to be applied to the levels).
I`m still appalled that people just give fromsoft a free pass whenever they spit out a new game, not willing to conceive the notion that perhaps the studio should have actually bug-proofed their games and focused on them being PLAYABLE, rather than forcing their fans to eat their shit, because they are too busy making a game to be 'super shiny', rather than making sure that EVERY death the player suffers will be caused by the player themselves.
After the stupid shit FS pulled with the DS1 PC port, i thought it was pretty clear who we are dealing with here, and after the '30 FPS is the way to play Bloodborne' bullshit, it is really hard to just close your eyes and pretend it never happened.
It is such a shame, FS had created their own little niche with Demon Souls and Dark Souls 1, but rather than refine and improve the future games, they are just content with releasing broken products to their fans, while not even trying to fix the issues that had plagued the series from the first game.
It's sad really, that the MAJOR actual problems Bloodborne suffers from are technical issues that FS did not wish to tackle, here's hoping that someday they will get it right, as you must NEVER come to a point in a game, when you are compensating and suffering through the technical problems of a product you paid full price for - EVER.
I hope someone can relate ;)
Yuri .K. Meh things can be patched and will be, give it time. By far the best next gen released game. But if you want to whine about it, make your own, better game than. The game is very PLAYABLE. Atleast FS gives us games to play! Unless they are a spoiled rotten gamer, like yourself, nobody can relate ;)
Orinocomplex I expected purchased goods to be up to scratch and operable, not a buggy mess.
The technical limitations of the engine cannot be 'patched', though the netcode can be fixed.
I`m not even gonna give the second half of your comment any attention, as it has no arguments beside assumptions and personal insults.
Like I said, Spoiled rotten. Quit expecting so much. A lot goes into video games these days. You want a non buggy game? Bust out your NES, and play Super Mario Bros. Bloodborne is not a buggy mess BTW, What the hell are you talking about? Whine whine whine, waa waa waa.
***** The problem is EXACTLY the fact that Bloodborne runs at 30 FPS (often dropping below that, especially during ripostes and GFX intense spells/skills). This combat system requires skill and precision, yet the game hampers the player, causing them to get hit or miss because of a poor framerate that does not suit the mechanics.
The camera issues are that of a camera system which is not well suited for the level design the devs created, which makes me wonder why they did not just go for a more isometric camera, allowing the player to see more around him, or at-least not binding the center of the camera on the mid point of the avatar - placing the center point a-bit above the player's head would have allowed for greater precision and awareness.
The lock-on camera attaches the 'anchor' point to strange places on the enemies (unless they are the same size as the player), causing you to have your view obscured, or causing the camera to freak out when a boss dashes past you (The cleric beast is a fine example of horrible boss arena and camera design put together).
What i find sad is that invasions and co-op are still handeled as p2p, and the gripes i have with the game are purely technical (excluding my personal thoughts on systems they changed/implemented this time around), and the team could have focused more on polishing the game in that respect.
It's clear that the PS4 can not handle the intense graphics of Bloodborne in 60 FPS, and the devs knew that, yet decided to make the game prettier, rather than playable.
IMO, fromsoft REALLY need to step back and take a look at their MO in relation to accommodating the fans, because they are a very passionate and loyal bunch. I`m still glad Bloodborne exists, but after getting my hands on it on a friend's PS4, i can not justify the purchase of a PS4 or Bloodborne, unless you are a diehard fromsoft fan, and a VERY forgiving one.
Here's hoping FS actually focus on playability and bug-proofing on their next game.
Yuri .K. you are a weirdo
I shouldn't have bought Xbox One =,(
F0NAT0 hahahahaha rip
Wut, i thought you were a pleb casul. You actually finished the game?
