Dolly Parton -- The Lost Tape -- 1979 concert at her old high school -- full concert

- Found this in storage after 30 years. Concert was on the night of October 6, 1979, at Sevier County High School. Earlier the same day she attended the dedication of the Dolly Parton Parkway.
Her family was there, including her daddy and grandpa. Her daddy was working the t-shirt stand for something to do, but said "hush" to us when we spoke to him--he didn't want anyone to know who he was so he wouldn't get mobbed by people.
Recorded on a Panasonic industrial VHS camera and recorder.
I WAS THERE!! Such a great memory. I have seen Dolly in concert many times , but this was my favorite. She was so happy to come home a star...and all the East Tennessee area were so proud for her! There will never be another Dolly Parton.
All of Tennessee is proud of Dolly Parton----a bonified Movie Star...
Amen to that! there will never be anyone like her again. She's just so amazing. My #1 role model in all aspects

@@yedon68 Dolly Parton has been truly bless by God and not ashamed of her humble beginnings. Love always
As was i ❤🎉
If this was Saturday, October 6th, it was right before Dolly performed on that year’s Country Music Awards, which she would have done on the following Monday night (October 8, 1979). she must have been in the midst of filming “Nine to Five” at that time too, and presumably took a break from that to return to Tennessee to do the Country Music Awards in Nashville, and this concert in Sevier County, and then back to Hollywood to resume work on “Nine to Five”. It was a busy time for Dolly.
This proves that Dolly and her music and songs are timeless!!! It's 2021, so this was over 30 years ago and she's still so much fun to watch and listen to. May God bless her forever and always!
She was the best and queen of country music I miss her❤
@Jeangillette2005 What do you mean by was the best? And that you miss Dolly? Dolly Parton is still very much alive and it now 16th May 2024.
I imagine her family but particularly her father was so proud this night.
Wow. Just wow. Been a Dolly fan for 50+ years and all I can say is wow. It's 2022 and with all that's happened this world, I watch this and all I can say is wow. Thank you for sharing this gem and reminding us all that there has been and still is a source of pure joy and happiness and her name is Dolly.
Loved this lady since I was a kid. There is none like her, you cant help to love this lady, she always puts me in a good mood.
Regrets: Dixie Stampede in Orlando closed, I use to take my family there to get in the Christmas spirit, in 90 degree weather. My 94 yr old grandmother had never seen anything like it. Thanks Dolly.
Other regrets: I've never met her.
Love Dolly!! She is so amazing not only back then but also now. No other celebrity has done or even thought about doing even half the things she has, I'm so proud to be a Dolly fan!
👍 ❤ Dolly
Thank you Dolly 😊 you are so beautiful and I love you so strongly com ❤ on you are the best music 🎶 ever 🎶 ❤
Sweetest soul ever
Her voice hasn't changed - she is just amazing xx
Dolly is anointed.
I clicked just out of curiosity and then I watched the whole 1:17:21. Dolly is such a nice person, I love her giggles.
A genius of a singer and entertainer! She knows how to manipulate the public with funny statements and her glorious voice!! I would bow before her!!
What a blast that she put on a full-tilt concert at her old high school!
I remember this concert. I was there and enjoyed it so much
Her energy is incredible! Only saw her stop for a sip of water once. Amazing show.
I remember when "To Daddy" came out and of course I was a lot younger, and things seemed a lot simpler then and that song sort of broke my heart because not only did she leave "Daddy" but she left the children also. She thought they were old enough that they didn't need her anymore, but I am now in my 70's and I can tell you that I STILL need my momma. I haven't had her for over 40 years, but I still need her and miss her. When this song came out, I wondered why she didn't explain the way she was feeling to Daddy and MAYBE things would have been different. Like I said, I was a lot younger then.
Love your music keeps up good
She literally has the same exact energy and same exact voice... she never changed!
That is true and very u unusual. Most singers voices change as they get older but Dolly still sounds just like this. She is just an angel
whoever is the person who recorded this show should have sold it to the recording company to be put on dvd. this is a gem.
That is not how these things work. Each song would require an individual license so that all appropriate parties (writers, producers, etc.) would receive royalties, not to mention the unauthorized profit of Dolly's likeness. Dolly would have to buy the footage and release it herself. That is very unlikely.
@@NOVELBITES Nope. Those licenses and "likeness" etc. would only apply once the material was PUBLISHED by the recording company. An individual recording this could have sold his or her "rights" to it to a recording company.
@@viking956 Incorrect. You cannot sell someone else’s copyrighted material without permission and licensing. Each song is copyrighted and would require permission and licensing for a commercial release (unless the song is public domain).
Who cares about buying and selling and copyrights. If people can see it here that is good enough. Besides the quality is not good enough for DVD..... just enjoy the concert, before youtube takes it down! Sheesh!
@@NOVELBITES Normally you would be correct....except this was a free concert for anyone who wanted to attend. That pretty much puts this performance, not the songs themselves, in the "public domain". Accordingly, this specific performance is fair game so to speak when it comes to copying and distributing. Kinda of like if you take a photograph of Dolly walking down a sidewalk, she can't claim any ownership of that photo because she is in the public domain.
Dolly Great Balls of Fire, shes been rocking for a long time whenever she felt like it , and totally deserved to be inducted into the Hall Of Fame.
The good ole days when you could record stuff like this without hassle. I love the fact too that she IS putting on a show when she probably doesnt need to since she is singing in her hometown. But she gives them a show of a lifetime like she were in the big city!
Dolly 's mama n daddy must be so proud parents with DOLLY singing in her hometown. Love her giggles so cute such an excellent entertainer always engages w her audience's. Thanks for sharing.💕💋👠💄
I was a kid when things were this simple. No lights but a spotlight. Beautiful. I miss it.
Gingerbread and little Andy or Pandy is so sweet and so sad. Dolly sings that so beautifully in the perfect child voice. I have never heard Dolly sing that before.
Absolutely Fantastic !
Thank you Miss Dolly Parton - Greetings from New Zealand 💕
Just had to come back and say my wife and I love Dolly. I hope this is on Utube forever! She is such a wonderful person!
Dolly’s so uplifting to listen to. Im Watching Amidst Covid19 March 2020. I feel better already. Love 💕 your jolene story xx love you too 😍
Dear , Dolly, she never fails to bring a big smile to my face : )
She is the best!!!!!!!!!. I love her, She is my favorite singer and the nicest woman!
❤️🦋❤️🦋❤️🦋❤️🦋
What a delightful person, that Dolly Parton. I love her.
What a treasure to have in one’s possession.Dolly is the female equivalent of Elvis of which we all know he was a global superstar such as Dolly. I truly can not think of any other celebrity that is so truly loved and honored.Love love love this woman ❤❤❤😊😊😊🎉🎉
I wish I was there I think she is a wonderful singer and person. She has a great heart
Coming back to your high school to perform a concert after you've become a full blown superstar is the ultimate "Look at me now" success story and smack in the face to anyone who was mean to or doubted Dolly back in school! Go Dolly!!
What a weird thing to write, especially about Dolly who clearly would never be motivated by something like that.
@@ChazSmithProductions Dolly has said that classmates were mean growing up. Most of us dealt with people like that in school. If you think I meant Dolly was obnoxious about it then you're mistaken, but if you think enjoying being successful in the face of people who have put you down in the past is weird then you are the strange one in the minority.
OlBanjoPicker -Thank you from the bottom of my heart for posting this amazing concert by unsurpassable Dolly Parton. Something about this concert seems especially wonderful to me - Dolly sounds so happy to have come home to sing. This video is a total treasure!
Wow dolly just plain got this one and ❤️ it to the fullest 👍 got love the good old school days 👍🙏🙏🙏🙏😇
What a treasure! Thanks for uploading this. You can tell this is a really special concert for her.
This is great. Sorry I missed this concert. I was at the first concert she did at SCHS back in the 70's. I believe it was a fundraiser for the high school's band to raise money for new uniforms. Don Williams opened for her. What a great show it was!
I believe that that would have been the concert taped and released as 1970’s A REAL LIVE DOLLY.
This is epic. Put me in a great mood today.
Im From Sevierville Tn and My Son played High school Football at Sevier county high School where she Graduated and Many as my Nephews also did too!! Great too be a TN Vol and from Sevier County!!
awesome performance!
I had been a fan for 6 years in 1979. I became a fan when I saw Dolly perform with Porter in Macon, GA. The tickets were $3.50.
Kick @ss ❣️ Dollys Iconic 🦋
The lyrical genius that is Dolly Parton. The way she so effortlessly added a whole 2 completely different lines on the spot in Two Doors Down is so crazy. It's amazing how she can just let it flow out and it go together so well and it's.not even.part of the original song!
She's singing the original first version of Two Doors Down
ua-cam.com/video/17AbX8dAbHc/v-deo.html
The version she sang IS the original lyrics, so she didn’t make it up on the spot. Dolly re-recorded ‘Two Doors Down’ a years after it was originally released.
This is a piece of unmeasurable absolute GOLD!!! Dolly is a gift to us straight from the Music Halls of Heaven! What an absolutely incredible human being with wings!
Love you Gal.
A huge thank you to the person who so generously put this here for all of us to enjoy deep in and with the simplicity of our hearts and souls. God bless you.
This is a lady with class and she sings!
My daughter attended Sevierville High School. 1979 was the year I graduated high school in California. If I had been living in Sevierville back then, I would have definitely been at that concert!

Evergreen Dolly Parton. I'm in pain for not being in position to watch your show live. Great fan of Dolly since 1984. Still there in 2019.
Dolly doesn't need to exercise. Walking around in 5 inch heels his work enough
Love it!! This is wonderful, thank you so much for sharing.
awesome ‼️❤️💯
I love this video
love this.
I remember the late Leslie Jordan saying that he drove from Chattanooga to Sevierville to see Dolly. When he first met Dolly, she didn’t believe he was actually at the concert. He recalled her saying several things during the concert. She finally believed him lol. Thanks Dolly for all your decades of song and entertainment. I know Leslie is still a big fan watching from above.
As I'm watching Dolly on stage is so cool it reminds me when I was in Tennessee when I was little when I used to clog that's what country people do up there by the way and it's cool that is the same time I like the way she's singing on stage is awesome 👍 dolly is amazing love always Melissa
