He faded because the offensive line faded. I always say you're only as good as your offense. I understand the quarterbacks make the most money, but it's a team sport You can't put everything on them.
He had more of mid season issues mostly related to a weak line, injury and predictable play calling with no run game. He ended the season pretty solid.
Geno turns 34 in October, the way you put it makes people think that he’ll turn 35 during this season. Also he has some of the least wear and tear of any starting QBs his age Edit: as far as Howell goes, he needs to unlearn a lot of the bad habits he learned, if Geno isn’t the starter the whole year something bad happened. He wasn’t brought in to “compete for the job” he was brought in to compete with drew lock/replace drew lock as the backup.

@@Praying_Mantis3 Geno's biological age is more like 27. Dude he clocked just under 22mph running a few months ago. His arm is one of the strongest in the league. His accuracy is at least top 5 as well. He had great awareness the past two seasons which probably kept him from being the most sacked QB in the league. But, too many fans just don't see the complete game and have missed seeing these attributes. Shore up that line, run more effectively and the sky's the limit.
Geno is the starter and rightfully so, for now. But Sam could be the future if he continues to grow and develop. I'm looking at Sam for 2025, depending on whether they keep Geno or not. Fwiw, I do think Geno has a very good year in this new offense.
Sam is not in competition for the starting job. For a while, he was closer to competing with PJ Walker for the backup job than he was to competing with Geno for the starting job.
Geno played behind a crap O line with a crap coordinator. You haven't seen him in Grubbs system and with an improved O line. Howells numbers in preseason mean nothing. His 23 picks last year should say more than his preseason numbers. Throwing for 4k yards, when you're playing from behind all the time, because your team sucks, the yards will come. Trust me, Geno is better than Howell. Geno threw for 42xx and 36xx. 3600 yards with 2½ fewer games. Geno is going to light it up this year. Then what?

With a Ryan Grubb offensive line its certainly will be getting Geno and Sam a boost for better results.
