- In this video, I talk about what I did to get into schools like Princeton, Columbia, Cornell, USC, Georgia Tech, MIT and Harvard. I talk about the extracurriculars I did and about how I did academically in terms of my GPA. I discuss all of these topics as I also take you around a typical day of mine as I show you the different classes I go to, and the events that I attend throughout a typical day in my life. Come along as I attend class, go to talks, work on my problem sets, and even play in a basketball game. Hopefully this video will help you out as you try to figure out what colleges you want to apply to, and what steps you have to take to do so.

Dude, the beginning of the video made me feel so connected to you. Man, I know that feeling, I am currently in high school and am the best basketball player in the school, and despite being one of the best in Physics, my academics and other aspects are all looked over by my basketball, so no one really expects me to pursue the line of Physics.

I’ve had the same shit said to me about my ethnicity “you got in because you’re Hispanic” in reality I got better scores than those fools. 36 ACT/ 1600 SAT. If you think getting into schools is only about GPA and SAT, you need to get to know reality

And thinking of shifting to that field, although I already earned an MS degree in natural history science and currently I'm a first-year doctoral student. This might make some people uncomfortable but I have to admit that being black you need to keep reminding everyone that you are smart, you are good in STEM subjects, and you didn't get to ivy league (or any other institution) because of affirmative actions... It's such a broken society we live in.

This video was so inspiring to me. So many people try to do things just to check off those boxes and to say they have a long list on their resume but in reality it’s the people that choose a few things that they are passionate about who stand out the most. Your story is full proof that is the case. Also i was wondering if you could do a video more in depth about highschool. Right now I’m a a freshman and my dream school is MIT. I would like to know what classes specifically you took. What AP classes did you take? What were you SAT and ACT scores? Being black or being an athlete isn't a "fluke" or luck. Those are factors that greatly increase your chances of admission. Regardless your journey is incredible and you worked your butt of to be where you are!!
Skills @ schools like MIT, John Hop, Cal Tech, Georgia Tech etc etc don’t use race based admissions. FYI

Skills I’m sorry that’s just not true. University of Michigan & John Hopkins specifically do not use race based admission. All merit. I went to UM & worked in the admin office for a work study.

If true, MIT for ex. has a class profile very similar to many other schools (Ivy and non-Ivy). Would you classify that as just a coincidence or does MIT and every other University in the U.S. use similar measures when admitting students?

Man, I really want to get into harvard or mit. I'm fairly advanced in math (either starting to take or finished multi-variable calculus by the end of my 8th grade summer [this summer]), I'm going to take all the ib classes and as many APs as possible. I'm going to be on the math team and eventually one of the captains of the ultimate frisbee team. I'm also probably going to be a cit for a Jewish camp (I'm Jewish) and I will be volunteering in Israel

Hello! Good luck in MIT Class of 2022. I am going to apply to MIT Class 2025. My GPA is 3.3/4 and I am not able to take the SAT, because of the pandemic. However, I am searching to take the AP virtual. And my goal of IB is 39, but the bad thing is that I have Math Studies SL and Biology SL, that is why I enter groups of advanced math and biology to help me to improve and those teachers would do my recommendation letters. In summary, I am Peruvian and I grew up with the stories of our nation that gave me my identity, but then when I traveled to other regions I found out the poverty of our nation That is why I started to do social work in my country, but also I wanted to look for a solution. One day I was googling some ideas on the Internet, until I found that many countries improved with the help of industrialization. I wanted to do a company, so I could help in the economy and give employees to Peruvians. Until one day in my last year of high school, our biology teacher told us to do an investigation for IB, I didn't know what to do until I saw some news about the emergency of climate change. That is the moment that I realized what I wanted to do, that day I explain to my teacher about a project that would photosynthesize the excess of CO2, but she didn't like the idea, because it was very complicated. Then, I realized that this process we have it in the plants. Then I found a project similar to another country, that helped me to plan it and present it to my high school to do it. My teacher for the first time she like the idea, and she was going to help me to do an internship at a University. But my high school turned its back from me because I was too young. Even though I continue the project, then I contact the scientific of Europe that helped me to plan it and they affirm that is viable and it would solve climate change. Also, something that I did was to create an NGO to teach students math and also I am teaching English to children. That is what I am working on and I am more than sure that I would get accepted to MIT and I will work my projects on their campus. What do you recommend me to do? Do you think that I would get accepted?

I'm a 15 year old high school student from Turkey and I need some advices with life. I really like rocket science and space in general, I've learnt a lot about Aerospace Engineering in past few months, and im also reading a lot of books about it. In Turkey, schools can't really teach you English, there are many English lessons but they can't really teach you anything, I learnt English myself and last summer I learnt how to program. I think these are not even achievements, I get bad grades at Math in school and i feel very insecure about it. I want to fulfill my dreams of becoming an Aerospace Engineer but I somehow can't motivate myself enough to study maths, or... do anything at all. I don't know the reason but I feel like this and I'm really lost. My math teacher and some of my friends tell me that I can do it and I have the potential to do even better. Can someone help me about why I feel like this? Is it because of puberty or something? I feel really mentally unstable these few months...
