Excellent interview with a rare account of RA action in the Falkland Conflict. You have a good interview style Simon, with spare and relevant interjections which helps the narrative move along. Good job.

When we did a fighting patrol on Mt.Harriet 29 gave us a massive fire support called in by our FCO who was RA and later I believe became their CO.

Always nice to have some long range snipers on call 😁, and options for change was a bloody nightmare and cut the heart out of the Army. 🤬

I read the book by one of the officers in 4th Field Regt RA. About his time in the Falklands war. It was very interesting. I think that it's called, Falklands Gunner. I was with 11 Field Squadron, RE during the conflict. Our main claim to fame was Sids Strip at Port San Carlos or Green Beach. I believe that there is a book detailing the Sqn's exploits during the conflict coming out at some point.

I was in the tavr as a 19 -20 year old, half trained by the time I left. I worked at a place where the storeman used to be a quartermaster in the army.we talked and I said the army's kit was crap. . .especially the boots. . and a jack boot type would be better, i mocked the putties as my old man and uncle had at suez. The nob replied the kit was great and I didn't know what I was talking about.
All these comments about the boots make me laugh, and I was just a young guy with common sense.
The TA were said to have a scheme at the time to allow guys to join the the regulars for a year to get them trained up because of the soviet threat. . .I considered the paras but went with my 30 week skill centre welding course instead.
Imagine doing the falklands and seeing the country these past 22 odd years grooming and encouraging our women to open their legs for the blacks and bear mixed race kids with them.
My.old man said brits were a race of xxxx suckers. . . he got that right.

I agree. I believe that all Argentinians should repatriate to Europe and leave the land they stole to the natives, if you have left any alive from your ethnic cleansing. Do we have a deal.
