Honestly, there's no way in hell you can watch music videos like this and listen to rap like this, compare it to the rap now, and say that 90's rap isn't hundreds of times better than nearly all the rap today. There's was just so much more work, heart, and feeling put into 90's rap and hip-hop. You can tell that rap groups like LOTS were rapping for fun and because they had a real passion for it. Most rappers now don't have the passion for it, and that's the problem. Most of them are just a bunch of clout-chasers. Even the instrumentals alone were better than whole rap singles now. It's just sad when you compare most of the rap now to the gold that is 90's rap. Makes you wonder what the hell happened?
It was such a successful time for hip hop, unreal! My personal example of this is when me, my brother and my little boy, aged 10 at the time went to a The Pharcyde gig, we guest had guest list tickets so Elliott could get in the club. The Pharcyde treated him like royalty, signed records and t-shirts cos they love performing. now he is personal friends on Facebook with them and they speak regularly. That's the difference...
I think this does not just apply to Hip Hop: the essence of what is art in general has fallen a lot. They said that from time to time mankind sometimes becomes more superficial or deeper (searching for more solid values) - Just look at the history: Greek culture, Age of European Enlightenment, 1970s music. We are living a superficial era - not to say extremely materialistic - and therefore the most we human produce tends to be weak, worthless, below average compared to the other times. See the other music styles and see that the same thing repeats: music without essence and without depth. If music reflects what the human being is, then it is possible to affirm that the problem is the values of the human being and not the music itself. So the right question is: what happened to the human being to produce such poor things these days? Love from Brazil.
Aparecido Leite I fully agree with you, bro. Music just had so much soul, depth, and feeling in the 90's. People lived through their music. I don't really listen to other genres of music besides rap, R&B, and sometimes pop and for the most part, all 3 disappoint me. Don't get me wrong, there are a handful of artists out these days in those genres that are trying to save music and that put everything into their music, but it's not on the level of the 90's musical progress and talent. I don't even like rock or metal music nor pop music from girl bands or boy bands, but they're some rock music and pop songs from the 90's that get me so hype. The teenagers and young adults just seemed like they were in a whole other universe music-wise in the 90's. I'm just hoping there's another golden age of music soon, because lately, some good music has been getting noticed last year and this year.
Once Busta dropped that verse on Scenario, he became one of the rappers in the center of attention and a fan favorite in Hip Hop. Perfect song for a sunny Saturday ride in the whip!
I don't care what anyone says, C Brown was always the standout in Leaders for me.
Fun Fact: Busta Rhymes discovered his trademark chopping style while camping with the legendary Freestyle Fellowship in the Catskills in 1992, freestyling with them around the campfire.
The pinnacle of Hip Hop! This is arguably of of the best Hip Hop albums ever! 🙌🏼
Wow this is the best years ever!
Busta Rhymes: The Higher Learning Era
I wouldnt mind watching a Leaders of the new school biotopic movie, Id like to see how Busta rhymes would interact with Brown since they didnt get along at all, yet this group was really good , Scenario with Tribe Called Quest. put them on the map!
Never thought I would miss the 90s. Even though I started partying a decade and a half earlier..I was still going strong in this decade..so cool. There were no more good music after the 90s..and I partied to r and b..soul..rock..and disco..and this..I had lots of fun. Well..I hung up my partying shoes around 2000. I sensed a change. And Napster..and the rap game was changing. I got to enjoy it all.
C Boogy Brown is one of a kind what his delivery.
Busta Buss was the man! Milo was underrated!
CEE BROWN SHOULD'VE PUT OUT THAT S1NGLE SOLO CAREER IN FULL THROTTLE. WHO KNOWS WHERE HE COULD BE RIGHT NOW.
what single? because i always felt like he got jerked he was the best rapper his flow was unmatched
I'm 13 and im way more interested in music at this time than now
So happy to see that, my daughter is 13 now and Hip Hop is very different now.
Milo(3rd Rapper) stole the show on this banger!!! He should have put out a Solo album after they broke up in 93:(
This was MY SHIT back in the day!! T.I.M.E (The Inner Mind's Eye) was a very slept on album.....but still dopeness💯 "Classic Material" was one of my favorite tracks too...
I loved Leaders 1st LP when it came out. I was geeked out when i saw this vid on MTV. This was the single release for their 2nd LP; which I bought the day it came out. I haven't heard this song in years and it still gives me chills.
Inner Minds Eye, thier last album, was a freaking masterpiece!! Too bad they couldn't stand each other and broke up but these guys were lyrical geniuses.
I aint gonna lie but I slept on these dudes cause I was so in love with Tribe,XClan,Gang Starr...these cats were BANGIN!!
Real Rap from a Wicked album!!!!!!💯
🔥🔥🔥
Wooh!! High school days! 😅🔥🔥🔥
I heard this for the first time in 30 years and was shocked I remembered all the lyrics
I hate that the industry is brain washing the younger generations with crap ass music. But I appreciate the people who appreciate REAL music like this, REAL rap. The Industry destroyed an art form which breaks my heart because music like this gives hope and moves people
that's why I don't take the lame ass industry or the equally lame ass music of today seriously
90's oh how I miss these days.....Real Hip Hop!!!
you wouldn't think these guys never got on..
their videos always looked like they had fun..
good times, though..
yeah, was thinking the same, kinda underground ,only for full time HEADS...labels threw money at em though, wanted a new JBs or de la or tribe or sum moneymaking chart action
yeah exactly, I was thinking the same thing. They look like they're a group of best friends from high school or something but apparently they were always beefing within the group.
Someone needs to bring back vests, and visors with dreads through the top.... straight 1994 style
already working on it boss, stay tuned.
You still here ?
The kids did.. so proud of my era
I remember hearing this song in 1994.
Can't believe Dinco D produced this. Lovely old skool!
Real hip-hop
One of the first tracks to really get me into Hip Hop back when it came out, and I still love it !
Busta rhymes on fire 🔥
Charlie verse on here is 🔥🔥🔥
Damn it feels good to see people up on it! 90's was bad as beats, niggas that could flow to anything that was tight, compare to now,90's is the best baby ya dig?
From,1993+ Now 2018=Still a Classic
All four snapped, loved this joint back when I was a teen... Damn time flyz!
Just saw interview with Dante Ross and my goodness the director shot this did a phenomenal job capturing the essence of this video. As an video director i recognize what this entails. I love the transpatent wipes, crazy use of colors, and use of wide angle shot low capturing talent and skyline. That was stupendous! R.I.P to the director 🎉
Man I thought seriously Charlie Brown would be the next hit next to Busta!! 👊🏽👊🏽👊🏽
this whole album is pure hiphop
Underrated as hell
Man time flys
This just hit different
A FUTURE WITHOUT A PAST IS THE BEST LEADERS OF THE NEW SCHOOL ALBUM OF ALL-TIMES !!! IF THE STAYED TOGETHER THEIR WILL BE NO FLIP MODE SQUAD PERIOD !!FLIP MODE SQUAD IS AN SECOND COMING OF LEADERS OF THE NEW SCHOOL!!!
'90s hip-hop at its finest!!
What might have been if they stayed together. Bustsa did great as a solo artist.👍
