Honestly? I enjoy the Honeyback cheat being on - I'm here for the memes, conversations, and lucah experiencing the game for the first time, not for y'all getting frustrated because the enemies respawn every .05 seconds + depth perception errors.
I'm generally fine with the Honeyback cheat. I'm with all the other people saying you've earned the cheat as a legal reward for getting all those pages, and the difficulty in this game doesn't really come from survivability anyway. Though I do kinda hope you at least attempt the final boss without it since that's a pretty challenging fight otherwise.
i agree with everything you said. For the regular game fuck it let them regen but at least one or two fights against the final boss should be made with the threat of losing just so we can say Lucahjin gave it a shot. If she doesn't beat it regularly: Screw it turn on the cheat and finish the game.
Yeah honestly the having the cheat on has been so much more enjoyable to watch than if they'd had to've been slow and careful around the lava. On a boss I could understand people being upset, but not in just wandering around finding things

IDGAF what the other comments say: for the love of Humba Wumba, keep the health regen on. Dead serious, just keep it on, as far as I can remember it shouldn't directly interfere with any puzzles left in the game, and quite frankly it'll cut down on respawns.
I don't see a problem with you guys using Honeyback personally. You unlocked it and it's honestly kind of amazing to see Banjo act like a coalwalker with it. But good stuff this episode! I remember exactly how to get each of the three remaining Jiggies, but that's for next time. Really enjoying watching these as they come out. Helps make rough days better.
Of course, as anybody knows, covering yourself in a backpack makes you immune to extreme temperatures. (Don't try this at home, folks.) Kazooie's Glide ability is pretty sweet, tho, even if you can't ascend with it. You don't need a Flight Pad or Feathers with it, although the double Feathers cheat makes that less of a problem. Once again, Boggy just can't help eating Jiggies, or things that had already eaten a Jiggy. Some things never change. Ah, yes, the dual bosses of Hailfire Peaks, Chilli Billi and Chilly Willy. Not a very complex fight for either of them, but interesting in the fact that the second dragon you face has more health than the other, depending on who you face first. They're also not too bright, since they've been shooting fireballs and iceballs at you, and yet they believe you to be delivering pizza. It IS pretty amusing seeing them fully when they fly off, though, with their huge heads and long necks on their tiny bodies.
It's weird, the glide ability is definitely fixed in my mind from playing this as a kid, I thought you got it WAY earlier. But also, I tended to always do the levels out of order, this was my 5th or 6th level, I always got here so early. So maybe I remember it from that.
@@Eilavamp You need a lot of notes for it (660), so probably not too much earlier - with the Isle of Hags notes plus the previous worlds, you can get the moves here without needing any notes from Hailfire Peaks itself, but if you've skipped a world, you need a bunch of this one's notes, and skipping two worlds would make it impossible to afford.
Fun fact: The demo of Banjo Tooie on the title screen shows the process of getting to Chilli Willy (from getting Biggafoot's foot hit to climbing up the mountain).

Keep Honeyback on if you like it- It's literally a reward the game gives you. You've earned it. Plus health is kind of arbitrary in this game anyway, since there's no penalty for dying. The main challenge of the game is exploration, so the only real thing it affects is bosses. And I'll be real, the last couple bosses in the game are TOUGH. Absolutely no shame in using it in a first playthrough Also this is a very minor thing but if you look up in the Icicle Grotto, you can see a row of giant icicles hanging from the ceiling. You can shoot them with a Grenade Egg they will fall down and you can use them as platforms. It's not required at all, but it may be worth mentioning since there's still a Cheato Page to get in there
I'm fine with you guys leaving the Honeyback cheat on and it's definitely made for a smoother Hailfire Peaks experience, but there is still at least one more thing you have to do with the Snowball, which as you've seen acts weird with the code on. You can probably complete that mission regardless though. Shack Pack and Glide are some of my favorite moves in the game for how silly they are, Shack Pack in the funny way and Glide in the broken way. Just like with Nap Pack and Banjo's last move, you can talk to people while Shack Pack is active, which looks pretty goofy. We also get confirmation that Banjo fits inside his own backpack just as well as Kazooie, which means it's totally possible for there to be a game where Kazooie carries the backpack with Banjo inside.

These dragons freggin DESTROYED me as a kid. Not only did I not have the Honeyback cheat, but I also found hardly any empty honeycombs so I barely had any health extensions. It was uhh... not good times.

I enjoy the dragon kazooie and regen health. Have no idea why people would be upset about a CASUAL play through. I’m throughly enjoying this series and always looking forward to it.
100% calling it: Reese brings up Chilledlikeice when they confront Chilly Willi (less likely, she brings up ChilledChaos instead). 0:12 She also got one without the backpack (she still RT’d it for some reason). 3:02 Nah, keep it on. You can still die with it on even without falling into a bottomless pit by taking hits in quick succession like with the campfire. I was just worried that you’d softlock yourself as the snowball, but apparently the regen doesn’t kick in until you land, and the snowball gets launched in the air like Banjo and Kazooie would when getting burned (I remembered it as the snowball spinning out). 9:55 What Jamjars fails to tell you is that the Shack Pack lets you walk in hazardous liquids. It acts like the Iron Boots in OoT so Banjo can walk on the floor of any pool without having to pull up an air meter. This is how you get that last Jiggy in Grunty Industries for instance (wonder how far you can go in the underwater areas of JRL with just the Shack Pack). Also the small holes Jamjars is talking about are essentially holes Clockwork Kazooie can enter. Don’t ask how that works. I also believe this is the move Jon was conflating the sleeping move for with the trash compactor Jiggy. 11:20 Shouldn’t it balance out with how cold the water in the pool is so that the water becomes warm? This is why this Jiggy is the most convoluted one in the game. The solution is in yet another world! 12:13 The “Mumbo” one is the one near Wumba’s Wigwam. Remember there’s a shortcut between the two. 15:06 That was a comedy of errors right there. 17:50 So this was how you were supposed to get that Cavern Jiggy in JRL instead of the speed shoes trick Jon did. Gliding covers more distance than Feather flapping does as Kazooie falls at a slower rate, falling being the operative word. You cannot gain any height while gliding unlike the flight pads. You also cannot use the Beak Bomb while gliding. Gliding is just more convenient in most cases of getting around instead of having to find a flight pad (just like Kazooie’s Leg Spring in lieu of a Shock Jump pad). It’s kinda why I think Kazooie’s moves are uninspired compared to Banjo’s. Two of her moves are moves she can already do; she just needs a pad to use them and in one case the pad is better for her though not always an option. Hatch is pretty much her only original solo move while the Wing Whack works like the Pack Attack. 20:00 At least he was able to cough this one out on his own. 22:00 A 12’ long pizza?! Sign me up! 24:40 Pretty much. Each cannon can only fire three shots before it’s done (as you saw with Billi’s), so you’ll need all four cannons to defeat Willy. 26:30 The silence was all we needed to know. 28:55 Color me shocked. No Chilledlikeice callout. Also no commenting on the obvious euphemism with Willy’s name. 29:22 Oh yeah, the remaining brother shoots faster too. I’m sure his sweeping attack goes for longer as well.

Funny dragon guys, they want their pizza but blast you as you enter their domains, no wonder they haven't gotten their deliveries yet. The LP's already ended but I want to add I really don't have a problem with the cheat, it's something you earned through playing the game and with no penalty for dying outside of bosses, the game really just becomes more convenient and thus more fun to both watch and to play by the sound of things, subjecting poor Banjo and Kazooie to lava boosting is a funny image and you definitely sound like you're enjoying the game more with more freedom to mess around. As for doing things "out of order", it's a 3D Metroidvania-thingy, going back and forth in whatever way makes sense is how it should be done, even if it's not the optimal path.
It might be in the end of the episode. But i can't remember if you grabbed the Jinjo in the Clifftops, outside if this levels entrance. You need the suction shoes to grab it, and its directly across from the level entrance.
I don't even care about they Honeyback cheat honestly. I think at this point it has definitely been earned, and just the convenience of being able to go through the worlds without having to worry about bs damage has made this world a lot more fun to watch as a viewer because of how much it obviously puts both of you at ease.
You got to Kazooie's Glide move the waaay easier way. Normally you're supposed to shoot down icicles to make a path to it, and then hop across them as Kazooie. The problem is, Kazooie is fast, and it's very easy to miss a jump and fall to your death
My comment of the day with stuff you're missing in this world: - Mumbo stuff obviously (Dead Alien and Frozen man close to Boggy's Igloo) - Above the heat pool where you found the fish, there's a ledge to grab that has a collectible (iirc a Honeycomb piece) - Inside the Icicle Grotto (an Ice cave you can warp into) there's a ledge you can only reach by climbing a pole. This should lead to the Cheato Page you've seen before. - There's a big button you need to hit with the snowball around the yellow plant mechanic thingy in the ice area but the only way to get to it is from the lava side so I'd say explore first as Banjo/Kazooie and make a route. Yep, that's everything you're missing. As well as that heated pool for the pigs but Jon should know that's for later ;)
Glide N64: Now you're lifting no big fat bear (Banjo: Hey!) Easy it'll be to glide through the air! Jump up high and then hold Z, Don't need fly pads or feathers red!
At this point there are ways you can die without taking damage (bottomless pits), plus this game can be frustrating when you're in the middle of doing a puzzle and some random enemy you just killed smacks you to death so you have to do it over again. Honeyback and Fallproof were made for these specific cases where the player just wants to complete things and enjoy the game their way; you should definitely leave them on to enjoy what's to come
in the icicle grotto, you guys missed that there are huge icicles in the ceiling you can shoot down with grenade eggs. Makes it possible to travel up and down the large chasm as either character

Secret Codes - [received from Madame Grunty in Witchyworld] and "An egg container followed by Jingaling?"/(Nestking) since boss fights are basically underwhelming when you can't (without great effort) die, kind of alright to have with exploring the peaks, but if i may request: re-fighting the two later through the main menu/file select of the game? (bottom right) [word structured poorly, sorry]
I skimmed through the comments an episode or two ago and I legitimately think it's one person who's so mad about it, that they make it seem like it's more people. I mean, literally, one person made three different comments about it on one video.
Can't believe I actually used to have trouble with these bosses. I guess I missed the incredibly simple patterns and strategy to beat them somehow...and I kept falling off. Actually what I think happened was that I was not used to games with a perspective like this so I was trying to turn the control stick on the jumps instead of just holding left/right. Anyone know what I mean? (yeah, i know i'm just dumb).
Not dumb at all, I used to, and sometimes instinctively do. I still get confused when the camera suddenly shifts to a front facing one (like at the end of city escape in sonic adventure 2)

If I might make a suggestion for your rhymes, try to make sure the lines have the same amount of syllables. 8 then 10? 7 then 6? 9 then 7? By removing the element of matching syllables, the rhyming seems out-of-rhythm. Hope this helps.

Honestly, i think there was a lot of missed potential with chilly billy and chilly willy. It would have been much more fun to fight them together as a two-headed dragon instead of having two mediocre and nearly identical fights. Hailfire peak kind of has that issue of the two sides feeling like disconnected levels so it would have been a good opportunity to join them meaningfully.
I would have named this episode "We want Chilly Willy!" As a reference to 90s Simpsons but this title works too. Also apparently there was a penguin named Chilly Willy though I bet the reason the ice dragon was named that was because he's very...phallic shaped and "Willy" means penis in British slang.
if the game didn't call them cheats and instead called them "upgrades" (which they are, more carrying capacity and a couple of powerful health-saving/restoring tools) people wouldn't even think of complaining about the "legal" cheats not that i think a ton of people are anyway but, just saying
I never thought about it as upgrades before but I've always been okay with using anything the game gives you. Sometimes it encourages you to replay the game to challenge yourself and cheats are a good way of customising your experience. 😀

I mean there's of course optimal routes for speedrunning and such but isn't the whole beauty of this series how open everything is to explore, put together the puzzles each world revolves around and go whichever way your hearts desire? I don't really care about whether or not you leave the Honeyback cheat on. I think you're basing your opinion on just a handful of people, or maybe those who don't care simply didn't come out in larger numbers. I do agree with others, though, that you should at least take it off for the final fight, because as easy as the bosses generally are, the last fight can be quite difficult, and I'd like to see at least a genuine effort to get past it. 17:27 I didn't know that's how you are supposed to get to the Glide move. I always use the Claw Clamber Boots to get to the uppermost ledge (that leads to the Ice Side boss), and then drop down on the left side and hang to the right, which takes me there, too. Also, thank to Reese's habit of pooping on everything, I too have now learned that pooping into those cannons also works.😀
The honeyback is a little gamebreaking sure it helps Lucah from clumsiness but it makes Jon lazy like just walking on Lava from one end to the other lol I wouldn't mind a little struggle I mean you don't know the solution right away sure but Death is a slap on the wrist in this game since there are no lives right? I mean I don't want you guys to suffer I want you to enjoy the game so play however the hell you want I go to Blind LPs for reactions mostly and Lps are about the personalities and I already love both of you lol

Honestly just leave the honeyback cheat on if it's making the game more enjoyable to play. It makes the series more entertaining to watch when you're having fun playing it, and people really need to learn to stop getting so bent out of shape when someone isn't playing their favorite game the way they think you should be playing especially when it's your first time playing. With that out of the way there's some fun extra dialogue you can sif you go to talk to boggy and his family now that you got the jiggy for giving him the fish. I think they also have something funny to say if you talk to them as Mumbo.
If you die to a boss and come back with just either Banjo or Kazooie, the boss will just stand there and look at you funny... MENACINGLY! No really, I lost to Chilly Willy by falling off (that's why I consider the dragons the hardest boss in the game) came back as Kazooie alone wondering what would happen, and he just stared at me.
I would perfectly fine if you wanted to leave the Cheato codes on for the rest of the Let's Play. You definitely seem to be enjoying the game more when you don't have to worry about the health bar, which makes for a more entertaining watch, imo
I find the Honeyback cheat amusing personally and have no problem with you guys keeping it on; also you earned the cheat by finding the page so as far as I’m concerned there’s no reason you shouldn’t be able to use it.
Honestly, I would say don't listen to those people who want Honeyback off. It's a legal cheat, and there are multiple sections of struggle in this game; I think it's completely valid.
Everyone is entitled To their own opinions but I say to leave the region on just to save time and not have 100 episodes with Luca dying. Also look above the pool where the fish was located in for a surprise

I'm fine with you guys leaving the Honeyback cheat on and it's definitely made for a smoother Hailfire Peaks experience, but there is still at least one more thing you have to do with the Snowball, which as you've seen acts weird with the code on. You can probably complete that mission regardless though.
Shack Pack and Glide are some of my favorite moves in the game for how silly they are, Shack Pack in the funny way and Glide in the broken way. Just like with Nap Pack and Banjo's last move, you can talk to people while Shack Pack is active, which looks pretty goofy. We also get confirmation that Banjo fits inside his own backpack just as well as Kazooie, which means it's totally possible for there to be a game where Kazooie carries the backpack with Banjo inside.

These dragons freggin DESTROYED me as a kid. Not only did I not have the Honeyback cheat, but I also found hardly any empty honeycombs so I barely had any health extensions. It was uhh... not good times.

I was just worried that you’d softlock yourself as the snowball, but apparently the regen doesn’t kick in until you land, and the snowball gets launched in the air like Banjo and Kazooie would when getting burned (I remembered it as the snowball spinning out).
9:55 What Jamjars fails to tell you is that the Shack Pack lets you walk in hazardous liquids. It acts like the Iron Boots in OoT so Banjo can walk on the floor of any pool without having to pull up an air meter. This is how you get that last Jiggy in Grunty Industries for instance (wonder how far you can go in the underwater areas of JRL with just the Shack Pack). Also the small holes Jamjars is talking about are essentially holes Clockwork Kazooie can enter. Don’t ask how that works. I also believe this is the move Jon was conflating the sleeping move for with the trash compactor Jiggy.
11:20 Shouldn’t it balance out with how cold the water in the pool is so that the water becomes warm? This is why this Jiggy is the most convoluted one in the game. The solution is in yet another world!

17:50 So this was how you were supposed to get that Cavern Jiggy in JRL instead of the speed shoes trick Jon did. Gliding covers more distance than Feather flapping does as Kazooie falls at a slower rate, falling being the operative word. You cannot gain any height while gliding unlike the flight pads. You also cannot use the Beak Bomb while gliding. Gliding is just more convenient in most cases of getting around instead of having to find a flight pad (just like Kazooie’s Leg Spring in lieu of a Shock Jump pad). It’s kinda why I think Kazooie’s moves are uninspired compared to Banjo’s. Two of her moves are moves she can already do; she just needs a pad to use them and in one case the pad is better for her though not always an option. Hatch is pretty much her only original solo move while the Wing Whack works like the Pack Attack.

Funny dragon guys, they want their pizza but blast you as you enter their domains, no wonder they haven't gotten their deliveries yet.
The LP's already ended but I want to add I really don't have a problem with the cheat, it's something you earned through playing the game and with no penalty for dying outside of bosses, the game really just becomes more convenient and thus more fun to both watch and to play by the sound of things, subjecting poor Banjo and Kazooie to lava boosting is a funny image and you definitely sound like you're enjoying the game more with more freedom to mess around. As for doing things "out of order", it's a 3D Metroidvania-thingy, going back and forth in whatever way makes sense is how it should be done, even if it's not the optimal path.
I only ever played through the game with Fallproof and Honeyback. Keep ‘em on, you’ve earned it.
It might be in the end of the episode. But i can't remember if you grabbed the Jinjo in the Clifftops, outside if this levels entrance. You need the suction shoes to grab it, and its directly across from the level entrance.
I don't even care about they Honeyback cheat honestly. I think at this point it has definitely been earned, and just the convenience of being able to go through the worlds without having to worry about bs damage has made this world a lot more fun to watch as a viewer because of how much it obviously puts both of you at ease.
You got to Kazooie's Glide move the waaay easier way. Normally you're supposed to shoot down icicles to make a path to it, and then hop across them as Kazooie. The problem is, Kazooie is fast, and it's very easy to miss a jump and fall to your death
My comment of the day with stuff you're missing in this world:
- Mumbo stuff obviously (Dead Alien and Frozen man close to Boggy's Igloo)
- Above the heat pool where you found the fish, there's a ledge to grab that has a collectible (iirc a Honeycomb piece)
- Inside the Icicle Grotto (an Ice cave you can warp into) there's a ledge you can only reach by climbing a pole. This should lead to the Cheato Page you've seen before.
- There's a big button you need to hit with the snowball around the yellow plant mechanic thingy in the ice area but the only way to get to it is from the lava side so I'd say explore first as Banjo/Kazooie and make a route.
Yep, that's everything you're missing. As well as that heated pool for the pigs but Jon should know that's for later ;)

At this point there are ways you can die without taking damage (bottomless pits), plus this game can be frustrating when you're in the middle of doing a puzzle and some random enemy you just killed smacks you to death so you have to do it over again. Honeyback and Fallproof were made for these specific cases where the player just wants to complete things and enjoy the game their way; you should definitely leave them on to enjoy what's to come
in the icicle grotto, you guys missed that there are huge icicles in the ceiling you can shoot down with grenade eggs. Makes it possible to travel up and down the large chasm as either character
Turns out you managed to complete everything without needing it anyway so nevermind haha
It's too bad Hailfire Peaks is quick to get through because it's by far the best world in the game

Can't believe I actually used to have trouble with these bosses. I guess I missed the incredibly simple patterns and strategy to beat them somehow...and I kept falling off. Actually what I think happened was that I was not used to games with a perspective like this so I was trying to turn the control stick on the jumps instead of just holding left/right. Anyone know what I mean? (yeah, i know i'm just dumb).
Not dumb at all, I used to, and sometimes instinctively do. I still get confused when the camera suddenly shifts to a front facing one (like at the end of city escape in sonic adventure 2)

Honestly, i think there was a lot of missed potential with chilly billy and chilly willy. It would have been much more fun to fight them together as a two-headed dragon instead of having two mediocre and nearly identical fights. Hailfire peak kind of has that issue of the two sides feeling like disconnected levels so it would have been a good opportunity to join them meaningfully.

I would have named this episode "We want Chilly Willy!" As a reference to 90s Simpsons but this title works too. Also apparently there was a penguin named Chilly Willy though I bet the reason the ice dragon was named that was because he's very...phallic shaped and "Willy" means penis in British slang.

if the game didn't call them cheats and instead called them "upgrades" (which they are, more carrying capacity and a couple of powerful health-saving/restoring tools) people wouldn't even think of complaining about the "legal" cheats

I never thought about it as upgrades before but I've always been okay with using anything the game gives you.
Sometimes it encourages you to replay the game to challenge yourself and cheats are a good way of customising your experience. 😀

I mean there's of course optimal routes for speedrunning and such but isn't the whole beauty of this series how open everything is to explore, put together the puzzles each world revolves around and go whichever way your hearts desire? I don't really care about whether or not you leave the Honeyback cheat on. I think you're basing your opinion on just a handful of people, or maybe those who don't care simply didn't come out in larger numbers. I do agree with others, though, that you should at least take it off for the final fight, because as easy as the bosses generally are, the last fight can be quite difficult, and I'd like to see at least a genuine effort to get past it.
17:27 I didn't know that's how you are supposed to get to the Glide move. I always use the Claw Clamber Boots to get to the uppermost ledge (that leads to the Ice Side boss), and then drop down on the left side and hang to the right, which takes me there, too.
Also, thank to Reese's habit of pooping on everything, I too have now learned that pooping into those cannons also works.😀

The honeyback is a little gamebreaking sure it helps Lucah from clumsiness but it makes Jon lazy like just walking on Lava from one end to the other lol I wouldn't mind a little struggle I mean you don't know the solution right away sure but Death is a slap on the wrist in this game since there are no lives right? I mean I don't want you guys to suffer I want you to enjoy the game so play however the hell you want I go to Blind LPs for reactions mostly and Lps are about the personalities and I already love both of you lol

Honestly just leave the honeyback cheat on if it's making the game more enjoyable to play. It makes the series more entertaining to watch when you're having fun playing it, and people really need to learn to stop getting so bent out of shape when someone isn't playing their favorite game the way they think you should be playing especially when it's your first time playing.
With that out of the way there's some fun extra dialogue you can sif you go to talk to boggy and his family now that you got the jiggy for giving him the fish. I think they also have something funny to say if you talk to them as Mumbo.
Mumbo can resurrect the dead and just left bottles in the beginning of the game
If you die to a boss and come back with just either Banjo or Kazooie, the boss will just stand there and look at you funny... MENACINGLY!
No really, I lost to Chilly Willy by falling off (that's why I consider the dragons the hardest boss in the game) came back as Kazooie alone wondering what would happen, and he just stared at me.

I would perfectly fine if you wanted to leave the Cheato codes on for the rest of the Let's Play. You definitely seem to be enjoying the game more when you don't have to worry about the health bar, which makes for a more entertaining watch, imo

I find the Honeyback cheat amusing personally and have no problem with you guys keeping it on; also you earned the cheat by finding the page so as far as I’m concerned there’s no reason you shouldn’t be able to use it.
Honestly, I would say don't listen to those people who want Honeyback off. It's a legal cheat, and there are multiple sections of struggle in this game; I think it's completely valid.
