Hello Paul, Just bought a 1999 Yamaha xjr1300 which as mikuni flat slide carburettors to it. Engine starts and runs fine. Except having no throttle position sensor on these carburettors the bike tachometer showing 0 rpm to 3000rpm and repeats this over and over. However bike runs well. Is it possible to bypass the CDI to trick CDI ?? Any help you offer would be greatly appreciated.
@@paulbell9025 thanks for taking the time to message me back Paul. Tempted to replace carburettors to original mikuni cv carburettors. I keep searching for help. Stay safe brother 🙏 by the way love you channel and content. 👍❤️
@@keithmason3461 my move would be to go original, buddy of mine had a GSX 1400 converted to flat slides several years ago, I'm still trying to sort the feckers now.
Hi faulty running would be an obvious sign of course. I would guess the position sensor could be checked / set using a multimeter set for resistance, but I don't know what the resistance values would be Paul
@@paulbell9025 I asked out of curiosity and then check the repair manual and it's just as you said, you can check it with a multimeter to set it right :) thanks!
Hi Will, the procedure is fairly common to most makes of bike with this type of carb set up, no reason to believe that the same procedure will not work on the XJR 400. Could be worth establishing if the process for calibration is the same as my video ( I guess it will be for the 400, it is for the 1200) why not give it a try you can't damage anything. Cheers Paul
Thank you so much for your XJR videos, it helped me a lot for my cafe racer project ! Cheers from Switzerland :)
Hi Kevin, thank you for your comments, much appreciated.

Hi Keith, way out of my area of knowledge mate, perhaps one of the XJR on line groups could help.

How can you calibrate it without the rpm indicator? is there another way to detect a fauty one?
