I have one and it is one of my favorite gun to shoot. It's incredibly accurate, smooth and frankly the stock is sooo comfortable you could easily shoot it all day
I had an Uzi that went over 18,000 rounds of factory ammo & my handloads without a malfunction, until I tried some Blazer aluminum-case ammo in it. I had constant extraction failures, feed failures, double feeds & crushed cases. It didn't like aluminum cases at all.
H 45, I’ve watched you for years and now have something to share! Same problem with 147 flat point reloads. Could not eject a live round. I did chamber castings of the FPC and a S&W M&P 9. The FPC rifling goes right up to the chamber. The pistol barrel has about a 1/4” lead before the rifling. I don’t know why you were getting light strikes, but the difficulty in ejecting is clear. I have pics of the castings if you want. Otherwise, love the carbine.
What I really noticed from this video is just how much faster and harder the .9mm gets to the target and then smacks it. I know it gains FPS out of a longer barrel but I guess I’ve just never really noticed till now. I have several pistol caliber carbines including this one and a second gen Keltec Sub 2000 in .9mm. The concept is solid. To be able to have a carbine and pistol that takes the same mags, I can think of no better combo to be used as a "get home" type of weapon. I do just that with mine. It is in it factory bag and then in my get home bad, also I guess you could call it a "bug out bag" is a 5" S&W M&P .9mm , along with enough loaded and unloaded mags and ammo to I hope get me through whatever may befall me and my family. That is how I view this weapon and my Sub 2000. I love them both. They both have different advantages. I will have to agree with our humble reviewer here, this weapon feels solid in the hands. I love the ability to mount an optic on it with ease and then deploy it. Mine probably has 1500 + rounds through it, mostly cheaper range ammo but I have also run many different defensive rounds through it. My philosophy of use though is in all my weapons of this type I run 124 grain NATO spec rounds. That way I have a hard hitting FMJ that will run in any .9mm I have tried and in all the ones I own. A 124gr FMJ running at 1200 fps and more in different barrel lengths is nothing to laugh at and I damn sure would not want to be on the receiving end.
Just love this channel. This guy knows his stuff and gets me cracking up through the process while he is educating me on how to use these firearms. Fun and educational in the same sentence is not a common thing. Thank you for all you're doing and keep the content coming.
Thx for the in-depth breakdown, and interesting how that particular Underwood ammo was having issues with more than one FPC. Here I am hoping that S&W creates a 10mm FPC variant, or that Mechtech Systems adapts M&P for their PCC conversions.
Re: comparison to a pistol, what I noticed was how quickly Hickock took aim at The Gong and hit it, and quick follow up shots, all of them hitting. I've never seen him do it that fast with a pistol. That alone seems a good argument for 9mm PCC over 9mm pistol, if the compact size of a pistol isn't needed (e.g. home defense, varmint shooting, etc).
I tried to love it, after purchasing it, gave it a gud cleaning install nice reflex optic, loaded her up with CCI blazer and sadly had nothing but issues... Jambs, ftf, and lock up!? Though it did improve after some breakin but didn't trust at all sold it, I will be sticking with sub2000 keltec it might be plastic but the darn thing barks every time I pull the trigger!!
I started carrying my gen1 Sub2000 when there were random riots all over the country. It's certainly not the best quality, but it's the best design, I think. Top folding like it does means you can't use an optic on it, but it is the smallest, thinnest package I've found. For a plinker, this M&P looks a lot nicer.
You are America's true uncle Sam The teacher of the arts of the military I can only remember one old American hero as popular as uncle sam. You make me utter the words "America!!!!!!!!!!!"
My FPC did the exact same thing with high quality HST factory ammo but it took several tries until the extractor came off the cartridge and I could lock it back to push (very hard) with a cleaning rod and removed the cartridge. I was told by a very competent gunsmith that the chamber needed to be pollished along with the feed ramp. I sent my FPC into S&W along with the gunsmith's advise. I want them to polish the chamber and feed ramp as well as check out their extractor. It turns out that if I had the gunsmith do the work that S&W would have voided their lifetime warranty and the rep further stated that S&W may not do anything to the chamber at all. It is up to S&W's integraty in keeping their firearm(s) safe for the operator. This chamber issue could actually kill the operator with an irreversible jam due to faulty chambers or, heaven forbid, a misfire when the operator has to pound on a jammed live round from the muzzle end of a loaded firearm. Thank God I will probably never see mortal combat, however, I have to tell you I will always carry my pistol with a proper chamber if I ever go to this, otherwise, great setup. Where a green laser, red dot/scope, 1600 lumen flashlight, suppressor, forearm folding grip is advantageous, the FPC allows the operator to safely store this deadly combo in a normal backpack. I could replace my LoPro green laser with an IR/green laser and mount an IR illuminator onto the front right side. Believe it or not, this folded FPC will store in a regular backpack with a suppressor attached and be ready to charge 64 rounds of quality jhp ammo. I will tell hickok45 that a carbine with this capability is way overdue for the American citizen who wants to store their firearm while out in public and enjoy the shooting sports mainly but is ready to and capable of defending themselves, family and "neighbors".
I’ve been watching a lot of reviews on this Carbine. I appreciate the detailed information on the ammo situation. I’d also really like this in a 10mm since I plan on taking it with me on some deep backwoods motorcycle camping adventures.
I have been shooting my S&W M&P FPC for 3 months with the VORTEX Sparc AR Red Dot. Used various ammunition but all 115 grain FMJ Brass case. I had the same experience with Armscor that you had with Underwood
Armscor is not good (IMHO). Bought some 9mm, .40 and 45 during the pandemic. Without fail... 1 out of every 50 would jam my gun(s)... Slides would not fully close. Bad quality control I guess.
I was a little apprehensive with the safety about it folding as well but it won’t with a round in the chamber. I’ve had mine for a few months and it’s really fun to shoot I’ve added a strikefire 2 red dot magpul vertical grip and sling to mine

Picking up mine thursday. Have the pc9 and love it. Ive watched a ton of vids about fpc. Havent seen many malfunctions. Except for the bolt release. Thanks for the video. Have a great day.
How many people buying this actually have a 9mm suppressor? Nice it comes threaded, but the thread protector has no o ring and comes loose after 1 magazine. Expect to loose it if you don't modify it.
😢seeing that grip makes me miss my m&p 2.0 10mm I felt like a Rick star carrying that thing. I got a Taurus 6" 357 7 shot revolver and a Remington 770 308 bolt action out of it trading it in. But I still miss it. But I got the new hipoint 10mm other than the accuracy. It has filled that hole in my soul I guess.
A buddy bought one of these and loves it. Earlier, I wound up invested in 9 and .40 Sub2K’s because of the interchangeability with Glock pistols for get-home backpack duty. Had I decided on M&P’s years ago, …
I looked at a bunch of different PCC’s and ended up getting this because it was something different and it’s a blast shoot and ammo goes so quickly. I put a Holosun HS510C on it and it’s right at home. I’ve heard that S&W didn’t intend for the bolt hold to be a release but it can be used as a release. You have to use your thumb on one side and your pointer finger on the other. Squeeze both side of the release and push down.
Thanks for sharing. Would have been great to see a side by side comparison of the latest Kel Tec Sub 2000. Always enjoyed the glock 19/17 interchangeable magazine with the Sub2k made a great system in my opinion.
I sold and regretted selling my sub2k. I bought this recently, because I could keep an optic mounted Romeo 5. I never needed an optic with the sub2k as my ability was fine at 100 yards and never fired it past that. The fact is I'm older blinder, and have trembles now. The only thing I don't like about the fpc was the lack of 33rd mags. But as a bug out piece the 63 rds on the gun is great. I admit the 6 33rd mags were a blast to burn through on the sub 2k but ammo being what it is I limited my "extra mags" to 3 of the 23 rnd mags. Honestly if your needing more than the 17 in the pistol grip you should have already bugged out further lol. I also do not like the charging handle being the lock down while stored. In a hurry you may lose a round trying to deploy the barrel.
Hickock! Thanks for keeping us informed as you know better than us all pistols and revolvers can be pickie on different Ammo. Keep on shooting brother 👍🏿🎯👍🏿😊
I like PCC's for several reasons. And I think S&W's side folding concept is really good. For me the one negative is the proprietary magazines. I would be really interested in a 12" supressed version. I'm also interested in seeing how all the polymer holds up.
I am in Canada, the magazines are limited to 10 rounds. S&W made them 9 rounds. The 10th is impossible to fit. Cons: bolt release, push safety (I have small hands, impossible to use easily), stock mags storage is useless, can’t have a magnifier since the rail is forwards only, mags come with a sleeve I glued them up, charging handle goes loose. Pro: fun to shoot! Can’t wait for aftermarket solutions.
i'm not sure how those would fit in the stock, but its worth looking into. That's what i'm planning on doing when I pick mine up. Do you know your round count? If the charging handle is loose after a few rounds, i'm not sure I want it lol.
Na, not really… I get mine for 500 bucks and I have no real complaints, people complain about the slide Stop yes that’s what it is, a slide Stop not a slide release. I love the Mag placement in the stock. It works great for me. At the price point, there’s nothing to complain about.
Great review. Can't wait to start making accessories for them Looks like a new bolt release might be the first thing we work on. Would like to send you a vented barrel shroud for you to try out. They're mostly for fun, but with all the shooting you do, the barrels get pretty warm and our shroud will keep you away from the hot barrel.
thanks for sharing. Optics have been the bane of this gun for me. I have glasses, too, and some optics are just terrible for me that far out. I'm looking to purchase Tac Com 3's "scope mount" that's a pic rail that attaches on those back 6 bolts (he provides longer ones) so it's closer to the eye. I have a backpack that actually has straps inside (meant for clothes, like a mini luggage thing) and the FPC goes right inside I told myself I wanted a PCC with a magazine well separate from the grip, but did a sudden flip and got the FPC lol... S&W teased a potential 10mm version recently...
P.S. I wrote my comment before finishing the video, I had exactly the same thing happen with my FPC AND,,,, MY SUB 2000. like I said in my first comments, I run 124gr NATO SPEC ammo. I have never had a problem with Underwood in any other .9mm weapons I own and that includes a CZ SCORPION, and a RUGER PC CARBINE and a RUGER PC CHARGER. it’s is really strange to me that both the folding carbines I have, both had this problem. On my S&W though I did have to hit the but stock on a big oak block I use when splitting wood while holding back on the charging handle. One smack and the round came right out.
Bought mine when they first came out. Wouldn’t shoot. The firing pin retainer pin in the bolt was broke. Sent it back to Smith and Wesson. They replaced the bolt assembly all at no cost to me. Not even shipping. Since I got it back I have put probably 1500 rounds through it. I love the gun.

@@carolynjohnson7308 well and you?
I've never owned a PCC but I'm really liking this...
A buddy bought one of these and loves it.
Earlier, I wound up invested in 9 and .40 Sub2K’s because of the interchangeability with Glock pistols for get-home backpack duty.
Had I decided on M&P’s years ago, …
@@carolynjohnson7308 I’m a dysfunctional ball of baggage and bitterness, thanx.
just got home with one, Cabela, Vortex red dot, Shout out from Calgary, Alberta, Canada
ZERO malfunctions in my FPC.. used Speer Gold dot 124+p and 115 gr, Federal 124+p HST, Sig V crown, and half a dozen different FMJ. Awesome bag gun.
Good to know. Thanks for the info. I just picked up this very deal for $529. Couldn't pass it up.
This dude is a legend been watching since I was young
Mr. Hickok, we Love watching your Videos. I just ordered one from BUDS. You are the Best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They need to make this in 10mm
Costs twice as much to shoot 10mm than 9mm.
It will be for sure
@@RealJeep and?
@@RealJeepit’s more than twice as powerful
@@RealJeep 10mm can be had for $19.99 per box of 50 & you can always use .40S&W in it if you want.
This rifle works well for small hatchback. Having it fold in half gives you plenty of options for placement in a small compact car.
Great info in the followup. Thanks for adding it!
Not to bad , it is better than I thought
👍😊 neat little rig , 63 rounds at hand, the mag changing is different it would take some practice to get good at it but 👍.
The shop is called Exile Armory in Weaver, Alabama. It is not far from the Civilian Marksmanship Program South shooting range in Talladega, Alabama.
Thanks for sharing. Would have been great to see a side by side comparison of the latest Kel Tec Sub 2000. Always enjoyed the glock 19/17 interchangeable magazine with the Sub2k made a great system in my opinion.
I love my Sub-2000. This M&P looks nice too. Definitely worth collecting these PPC’s
H45 you are the yoda of shooting ❤❤
I'll stick with my Ruger PC9, but you sir make ANY gun look good! Have a Blessed day
Bought one, thank Mr45!!!
Getting one in Canada. Can’t wait!
Exile Armory Weaver, AL see Amber and the rest of the staff. Great selection of Firearms and accessories
Thanks , i appreciate your videos your the best. Hope you get up to Massachusetts sometime.
Hickok,
I’m such a fan. You are loved by your community. :)
Between GRANDPA HICKOK and Dragonman we have our well supported militia
Awesome, i was waiting on your take on this one. Greetings from Pennsylvania.
poor Amber at Exile Armory in Weaver Alabama. One of the better-priced gun shops in the country. Good service as well.
That’s my favorite LGS. Great shop!
Hickock! Thanks for keeping us informed as you know better than us all pistols and revolvers can be pickie on different Ammo. Keep on shooting brother 👍🏿🎯👍🏿😊
That's a radical looking rifle.
This old man's a gem!
Some of us need a 16” barrel to shoot as well as Hickok with a 2” barrel.
Really enjoy your show. I’ve been looking at the newer 22 mag rifles and this M&P might be the ticket for plinking at modest ammo price.
Excellent video, as always!!! I have never used that ammo in my FPC. I shot 50 Blazer 115 gr and Federal 124 gr without issues.
thanks for sharing.
I have a backpack that actually has straps inside (meant for clothes, like a mini luggage thing) and the FPC goes right inside
I told myself I wanted a PCC with a magazine well separate from the grip, but did a sudden flip and got the FPC lol...
S&W teased a potential 10mm version recently...
You’re the best, sir.
I had the same problem with the same underwood ammo in my Sig MPX
