Using "VoiceMeeter Banana" you can downmix your Windows audio out to mono in realtime (with some fiddling depending on your audio interface), so you can listen to this through headphones. I've been using it for ages for debate videos and podcasts and the like which are often also recorded in mono.

This video just caused me so much stress. I honestly thought my right studio monitor broke. I was troubleshooting loads to see why nothing was coming out of the right channel and worrying. Turns out the video itself is just hard panned to the left??
