Gorgeous and informative video, thank you. I saw your footage in a news story about the length of the days around solstice; still trying to wrap my head around how the sun rises around the same time for a number of days even though the sun starts to set later every day around the winter solstice. I had no idea about figure 8 shape; this was a revelation!!

Yes, yes, VERY well done! You have created a magnificent educational tool. Superb use of video editing. Thank you, thank you, for your valuable effort!
Well done, just learning about analemma and i am curious about how proximity to the equator would effect the symmetry of the figure 8. Like we see winter solstice having a larger loop below the intersection than the top ....now as one get closer to the equator does it get more balanced /symmetrical? Much love from Edmonton alberta canada (the most northern provincial capital in Canada) 🇨🇦
the figure would remain the same shape and size whatever the observer's latitude is. at sunset as viewed from the equator, the analemma would be horizontal so that the western horizon would run along its line of symmetry.
The shape of analemma is constant everywhere and is caused by two factors: Earth’s orbital eccentricity and Earth’s tilt. Solar day drifts due to both and the combination creates the asymmetrical shape. If orbital eccentricity was the only factor analemma would be ellipse shaped. If Earths tilt was the only factor, it would be symmetrical figure 8 or infinity symbol. The combination creates the shape you see.
Affascinante. Complimenti per essere su APOD e Focus! Mi sarei aspettato che nei giorni di equinozio il sole fosse alla stessa altezza, che l'"8" dell'analemma si sovrapponesse in quelle date: come mai non è così? Grazie!

Good observation. Sun sets precisely in the W only twice a year. Then during summertime it moves toward NW and reach more than halfway between W and NW. And comes back toward W for Autumn.

@SlickBack-cq4qdIt might be explained on a globe, but earth in not a globe iv seen Timelapse videos of the sun moving away from view until the light can no longer be seen. Not setting moving away and out of view taking it’s light with it
@@Flatearthist-s9j there's pretty much multiple of footage on UA-cam from different sources. For example frozen south. Not only that but the antarcita ships that take off, usually have accounted sighting of 24 hour day light. There should be one coming up soon though, the final experiment.

I love that in addition to the great graphic you created, you included the actual photos! Beautiful music as well!
Top job, the analemma is awesome enough but the monthly sunset is magic. If I could pause at 30s and take a photo I'd hang that on my wall.
Nice 1 x

Garry Sedun - well done! Now I want to understand why the earliest and latest sunsets are not exactly on the Solstices.
It's because the Earth's orbit is a bit elliptical and tilted as well. Yes, up here (49 deg. N), those dates misaligne about 2 weeks.

Do you know what shape of reflector can make a complete analema given a projection space and a light source?
is there a video of the the sun at MIDDAY for a year??? Why not use the sun's cycle, I'm curious.
Why is the grass always in the same place over one whole year ?
Thank you
It isn’t did you watch the whole video???? It shows all the pictures taken to track the movement

Good job madam

thanks, this proves the earth is flat, and sun hovers above earth on circles of different radii
Yet the sun still manages to appear at the south pole 24 hour sun or polar nights specifically
