$14K? Not in my area!
Yeah these are make believe numbers.
@@dondgc2298 -- More like 24K is what I'm seeing.
$14,000 is way too much. $5,000-7,000 sounds more reasonable. (Assuming we are talking Craigslist or FB Marketplace and not a dealer)
23-27 in NC. Especially with only 40k miles
@@buttonysquare8501 For a vette with 40k original miles? Every piece of that car looked like it was well maintained in that video. Wheels and tires, brakes, engine bay, etc. I can't see that going for less than 10k.
“For a small amount of money” y’all gotta remember most people are struggling to pay rent and bills.
I get your point but I’m pretty sure it pertains to people that are looking to or can get something ❤
Not me sucka. I live under my means so I can save.
I think he means it is the best value out there in terms of performance and looks, which it most definitely is. No question about it. Bought mine for under 10k. Doesn't take long to save up for one if you really want one.
Speak for yourself. Some of us made responsible financial and life choices.
Ok but 14 grand for a car that gives you nearly 350HP and is a track monster in the right hands is still a bargain for lots of people if your in that bad of a situation financially then this video and advice doesn’t apply to you and keep it moving the world doesn’t have to revolve around the people who can’t pay their bills because there’s still a massive amount of the population that still has some spare cash lying around
You got a pretty good deal- I just went through 5 pages of C5’s on Hemmings and no C5 around 40k is under $20k
I paid 29k for a 62,000 mile 03 Z06, June 2022. Prices are all over the place, I’ve seen my car same color electron blue metallic, same or even a little bit more miles, for 36,000+. I’ve also seen them for as low as 23 to 26,000, so don’t take any price to heart. Look around to see what you want, what you can afford And what makes sense. Then pull the trigger if you choose.
Also note that insurance is going to be a little bit higher because it is a Corvette, and if you are doing any sort of financing, used vehicles are 6 1/2 to 7% and up
where are y'alls favorite places to shop cars? I've been using autotrader and KSL and haven't had much luck with c5s
He lying 🤣💯
@@tane4652 there’s no one place in particular that I am aware of, I just looked online for an 03 Z06 Corvette. I found mine one state away, in Pennsylvania
I went to a dealership selling one for $13,000 it only had 46000 miles
Don’t you dare make fun of the buttons in the interior. That’s something most new vehicles lack today.
ong, rather press a button than go through 3 different screens for the same thing
When you think about how manufacturers cheap out on their interiors these days with a screen here and a screen there. I guess it really does make a cabin filled with buttons seem more expensive. At least it’s more expensive to build, not really talking about the value.
He’s not making fun of the fact that it has buttons he’s making fun of the plastic they used.
Except Porsches
Ive been in my uncles, and there had to be at least 50-70 buttons assorted around the cat

You buy the vette for the engine driving experience not some stupid interior things
Bought mine 2 years ago in SF. ‘99 6 speed for 12.8k with 39k miles. Soon as Covid hit they jumped to 20k 😅
Yup
As my dad used to say, better to be lucky than good! I bought my motorcycle and we bought our house in December 2019. We got lucky.
Tommy: "You have to get one, they're SO cheap!"
Also Tommy: "I hate the interior, it's SO cheap!"
Fr I don't get people hating the interior like they had to cheap out on something to keep the car cheap and I would rather that be the interior then the engine
@@electro740Plus that interior is literal worlds better than an early C4 interior. Now THAT'S a STUPIDLY cheap interior.
@@fortcrafterbossbehold9027 I even have a c6 myself which has an even nicer interior then the c5s they do improve over time the newer you go
@@electro740 I accept and enjoy cars for the way they were made at the time. These Vette’s were purposely made for a reasonable price point and go fast, we wouldn’t see so many on the road today if they were priced stupid like a Lamborghini
I paid $10.000 for my 2001 C5 hatchback with 95,000 miles on it. I now have 150,00] on it, and it runs like new!!! Had it up to 179mph.
I've heard they're capable of good fuel mileage too, If kept at or below the posted speed limit on the highway.
My Dad’s ‘04 model got 37 mpg on an all interstate trip👌👌
This is getting annoying-this is a comment I made on another post elsewhere, which was posted to that one as well, this is happening more and more lately-sorry about that!
Very true I average per tank 300-350miles
30mpg is easy for these
Even my C4, the previous model makes around 25 to 30 on the highway,
These will be around when the final dodge challengers are dying out. It's funny how cheap GM plastic holds up better than pretty much anything dodge has ever made.
Well i have a 1999 dodge pickup with about 200,000 miles on it and it drives and look like new
The Ford plastics stand up well.
@@panchofriessen3958 no, it doesn't. Even with the Cummins, those old dodges need major work to stay on the road. You've likely rebuilt nearly every piece of that vehicle minus the engine. The dash is in pieces. The body is rusting and the paint is failing.
I've literally never seen a dodge in decent condition, even with low miles, and I'm in Arizona with no road salt.

That's actually my favorite generation Corvette. You must have a standard, no exceptions.
Agreed! Every time I find one I like its a damn auto 😢

I don’t usually like corvettes but the c5 body is absolutely stunning.

They’re relatively cheaper because a lot of the parts are shared which isn’t necessarily a bad thing
These used to be listed for under $10k before COVID. Prices have skyrocketed.
My buddy got one of this period Corvettes. It had a problem that required an expensive part that is no longer made or available. After a while he found a Corvette specialist who could handle it, but that scared him and he sold it.
Let me guess...the AC plastic button fell apart?? XD these cars are GM, I still find lots of parts for my 1985 C4 corvette on eBay

I’m so tired of the interior complaints, it’s as good or better than anything else out at the time. Such a copy/paste complaint just to parrot other reviews. I love it, I hate iPad dash bs where I need an old priest and a young priest to find the climate controls deep in a menu.
Still a beautifully aged car, of which the interior is great, but if you are to think of all things considered, there were similar if not better alternatives
@@bfctz632 I'm talking about other sports cars: Porsche Boxster/911, BMW Z3, miles ahead of Mustang, way better than gen 1 Viper, etc. Corvette was never a luxury car, but compared to other sports cars of the era the interior was at least mid-pack and better than most at it's price point.
who buys a sports car for its interior anyway
That's an odd price?? Good condition & under 50K miles. 17k & up easily..
C5 is becoming more rare each yr. QUALITY C5"s are going to sought-after guaranteed.
I’m 18 and I bought one because I just couldn’t live with myself if I didn’t buy a c5 or c6😂😂😂, needless to say i got an 01 with 125k for 11.5k, I’m like the 4th owner in 3 years tho, car has definitely been passed around, but you can tell the past owners took well care of it. 14k for a car like that is crazy. In Europe, for the same car you'd have to double the price at least, maybe even more if you want a manual
The C5 tied with the Lotus Espirit for last car with pop ups.

Found a Z06 with 80k miles, blue, and in gret condition with a clean title for $19k. Super tempting but with my wife's health it will have to wait another year or two. There was also a base 1999 with manual for $12k with less than 60k miles. Also another was found this morning, a yellow model year with 170k miles for $8k with a clean title but automatic.
