Well not really pillow is trying to show he’s the boss, he/she (idk) is trying to show dominance because pillow thinks he/she is the boss of that cockatiel so it’s pretty bad they needa show them how to cope with each other

Yes, Pillow is very pesky to Pearl and she does seem to get annoyed. Haha! And your prediction for the future of a bird room for us... Haha, maybe. We seem headed there.... :)
Typical budgie behavior, for awhile Pillow will wanna be all over Pearl and Pillow will want to try to interact with Pearl but will also try to show her, he is boss. One thing that may happen is Pillow may think you will like her more than him... establish what we call a pecking order (pun not intended) and when you go home let Pillow out first and Interact with Pillow first then put him back and do the same with Pearl and let them know Pillow is first he gets this and that first. This is NOT to be mean but this is how it works in the wild and also prevents agression between the birds
I have two pet budgies, the yellow one, Cedric pecks the blue one, Hedwig everyday. They’re becoming friendlier but sometimes they peck each other, what should I do? EDIT: They’re really scared too, scared of almost everything
@@julyy8524 how do they peck eachother? Does it seem playful? Does the one being pecked wanna get away? Do they do it to eachother at the same time? Also the being scared thing you just need to introduce things slowly as birds are prey animals and are afraid of new and odd things my Quaker is afraid of almost everything new or anything moved that she hasn't had experience with. The best you gotta do is introduce things slowly like a new to leave it across the room for a few days move it on the outside of the cage.
Buck, Collin, Chip Thank you so much! When they peck each other, the one that’s being pecked usually gets scared and backs away. Sometimes they peck each other at the same time though.
This is the only way I’ve found my budgie and cockatiel tolerate each other when out of their cages. I always show my original bird loves and treats first, THEN my tiel. My budgie can still be confident in his heart that he is #1 haha.
Pillow is trying to establish dominance over Pearl. My first budgie acted this way when he encountered my second one. After the “mounting” experience each will know their pecking order so to speak... In my personal experience this never occurred again. All of my 3 birds are males btw. Totally normal when new members are introduced to the “flock”. Hang in there...things will calm down. Your parakeet will definitely be more sprite whereas your cockatiel will tend to be more chill. Enjoy them!
I don't think pillow was trying to establish dominance, not to say that doesn't happen in birds. I've had multiple budgies in the past and have seen what aggression looks like. If pillow was trying to be dominant you would have seen him trying to stand tall, break open, ready to bite, wings somewhat spread to appear larger, and the pecking would have been persistent. Pillow just seemed overly excited. It actually looked more like pearl was confused with what pillow was doing.
a good training tip is to not pick up the bird when it flies to the other room. Look at it from afar and call them to you. So they figure out how to get back to you just incase you they are up high someplace you can't reach them. (don't want to teach them that they wait for you to pick them up, if they were to fly off on a tree.) Use a wistle to call them back and reward them for coming back to you As you let them out on your house.
Budgies are typically more brash and bossy than cockatiels. The reason why Pillow was "all in Pearl's face" was because there was no room on your shoulder for the two birds to meet safely. You've "never seen Pillow hover like that" - he/she was trying to find a spot to land. There being so little space for them to be next to each other, Pillow made the error of landing on Pearl's back. I seriously recommend watching BirdTricks - easily the best most knowledgeable pet bird channel on UA-cam. Very happy to see you are giving the birds fresh veg and pellets btw
I have a Cockatiel and a budgie too. I got them from a family who couldn’t take care of them before. Basically the boy got bored of them because they weren’t going on his finger and coming out, but now they are really happy and love coming out and hopping on my finger!
I think getting a second bird as a friend for pillow is a awesome idea but the only real friend for pillow would be another Budgie. Budgies in the wild live in giant groups. Budgies have Specific calls and behaviors that differ from that of other birds.
Budgies are so, so busy compared to cockatiels! I don't think pillow will calm down since it's natural behaviour! Oh yes, what someone said about pecking order it true. I learned this from Marlene Mc'Cohen's parrot videos. From now on you will need to always say hi to pillow first thing in the morning and then Pearl. And keep your attention between the two of them even. If you were to get any additional birds in the future each one comes next in line for the order that each gets said hello to in the morning, each time you leave the house and then come back home. I think you also keep the same pecking order for getting them settled for bed. This way Pillow always knows he's still number one. And if you were to get a third bird, Pearl would always know she's still number two bird in the home. You see what I mean? Then each bird never feels like any new bird is more important than them or replacing them in the pecking order.

I Think Pillow’s Shy To Meet A New Friend! And That’s Why ( He Or She ) Flew Away. And Pearl Is Getting To Know Pillow & ( She Or He ) Wants To Get Out Of The Cage.
I have two male budgies Spunky and Billie , and spunky jumped on my cockatiel Treasures back. They all get along and during the night they all share the same house. But treasure has her spot and Spunky and Billie have theirs but they get along great. (As for the back my male budgies try to flirt with my female Cockatiel) it won't hurt them.
Pillow is landing on Pearl because he is trying to mate with her, they are both probably hormonal right now due to spring. You also might want to try introducing them somewhere neutral and not on your shoulders because they could also be competing for you and your attention. You might want to get a new pirch stand that they can both fit on so they can meet without competing over you or their territories. 😊
Love this! Here's what happened in my house: I had four budgies, two males and two females, with various iterations of behavior between them. Recently, I acquired a hand-tamed cockatiel . At first, they were all loose in my bedroom, free to fly around but mostly staying on their respective cages (budgies in one large cage, tiel in a stand-alone metal cage) with all of their toys (plenty of wooden toys since the females love to chew). Well my tiel was completely confused by the budgies since the tiel's "flock identity", according to my vet, is "human". Meanwhile, the budgies were wary of a new big BIRD being in their home but very curious of him at the same time. That was four months ago and now patterns of behavior have been established. The budgies all try to be "friends" with the tiel, but the tiel - named "Chazz" - pretty much wants nothing to do with them. My two male budgies trill and chirp while they approach him, and Chazz tolerates them until they get thisclose and then he'll hiss and lunge at them and they shoo. However, the smallest budgie I have, a female named "Paddy", gets right into Chazz's face. He'll hiss at her and even lunge with his beak, but she stands her ground and even keeps on the offensive (they'll engage in a clacking of the beaks). Chazz pretty much gives up and then moves away - FAR away. What's crazy is that - if Chazz has been on my shoulder - Paddy will actually bite me or my clothing after Chazz moves away as a way of affirming her territory (female budgies are extremely territorial - I once had a female kill another one with a bite to the head because she was being defensive of her nest). When I first bought Chazz into the room and offered Paddy my finger to hop on, she bit it three times. Another time she - completely unprovoked - bit my little toe because Chazz had been taking a nap on my shoulder! After I put all the birds in the same room, I ended up having to clip everyone's wings because the budgies were constantly trying to affirm their dominance by perching on anything higher than Chazz's cage. Meanwhile, anytime one of them would suddenly and loudly ruffle their feathers, it would spook Chazz: he would fly up in "flight escape" mode - and then the budgies would react and start flying around, reacting in their own "flight escape" mode. However, even with clipped wings, the budgies insist on occasionally hopping on Chazz's cage and jumping in his seed cups and eating his food - to which Chazz just shies away and watches them from a distance until they finish. Occasionally - when I'm re-filling seed cups - Chazz will decide to help himself to the budgies' seed cups. The budgies mostly keep their distance - although the other night one of the male budgies - "Luke" - decided to challenge Chazz and they engaged in a snapping of the beaks. I broke it up - but Chazz simply backed off and let Luke take over the seed cup. I've learned that budgies are very noisy overall on a constant basis while tiels use sound selectively. Chazz makes low volume chirps when he's content with me - but if I leave and he wants attention, he calls out in a shrill chirp. Then there are the times he whistles - and that's louder than anything the budgies can put out. Chazz - perhaps being the larger species of bird - is pretty mellow overall. The budgies, meanwhile, all seem to have a "Napoleon" complex!
Very cute and funny video! I only have budgies, but have been considering tiels too, so that I can enjoy both types of birds. When it comes to budgies though.... Budgies are often very social and love other pets. However, they are normally of a fast paced and too playful temperament, and often are received as "annoying" by most other pets. Cockatiels are often a much more docile temperament, and when met with hyper budgies they do feel easily annoyed by them. Many budgie cockatiel relationships, are budgies love the tiels, while the tiels are too mild to keep up with the crazy budgies, and so they tend to be one-sided love relationships, lol. It is often good to give budgies other budgies to play with, so that they annoy other animals less, but that doesn't always work, and having an odd number of birds can instead sometimes cause bullying. You might later do fine with two tiels and one budgies though, as tiels are more docile and don't normally bully like budgies can. You do also have a cage large enough for two tiels. :) About Pillow landing on Pearl, at first I think it was Pillow just trying to land on a shoulder where there wasn't room for him. However, as he later kept trying to land on her, even on the couch and floor.... this might sound odd, but I think pillow might have been giving mating gestures. I've seen budgies get "romantic" with other odd pairings, even instant crazy “romance” out of no where, so it wouldn't surprise me, lol. Pillow likely won't ever hurt pearl, but pearl will likely have a love/annoyed (not love/hate, just annoyed) relationship with a hyper budgie. :)
My budgies annoy my 2 tiels so much lol I’d get pillow another budgie friend for sure, they are both super adorable though 🥰 we’ve got 6 budgies and they all love each other.
6:54 here, Pillow is testing Pearl to see if she wants to mate. Pearl is not of mature age for breeding so if I were you I would watch the behavior of both of them. If Pillow successfully fertilizes Pearl’s eggs, it could kill both Pillow and Pearl. Please watch them closely, or maybe even neuter Pillow. (The good thing though is that they only really mate during breeding season, so you won’t have to watch them SUPER closely all year long.) Also, Pillow IS showing aggression towards her because he wants her to know that it’s his house, but this is VERY normal. Please don’t listen to others that say “get rid of her” or “separate them immediately” because of this. All it takes is time and patience. I can see though that you are extremely experienced in taking care of birds, and you know your stuff. I have seen so many people that loose their birds because they didn’t quarantine when they got a new one. Thank you for doing your research and not thinking of birds as a decoration. 🦜🌺 P.S. I think it’s funny how Pillow just wants to kiss her and breed with her and she’s just like “nope” she is not having it lol 😂
Awww, I'm so happy that they're getting along so well! Pearl is just the perfect bird for pillow. A way that I used to reduce aggression between my birds at the start was putting just a sprinkle of seed out and bringing both birds to it. My birds bonded over seed together, maybe it'll work for you too! I think Pillow may want to 'mate' with Pearl xD
Pillow doesn't seem aggressive, he just seems SUPER excited to see Pearl. Pearl does get annoyed with him though. Haha, and yes, Pillow might be. xD Update video coming soon. :)
It's like a little interceptor chasing a medium range bomber. I once had a pet budgie "Gizmo" and a pet cockatiel "Chi Chi" live in a cage together for +9 years.
I had boy budgie and female cockatiel, few months later I bought female budgie and she fell in love with cockatiel, they were all in same cage and behaved really good together
I think Pillow was landing on Pearl because he wanted to mate, cockatiels and budgies are very different birds. Budgies are very high energy and can harass cockatiels because they are so much faster. I'd be careful that Pearl doesnt get too stressed and overwhelmed, also unless you are going to open the other side of Pearls cage for her it is definitely not big enough. Personally I'd say even then it might not be. Cockatiels need a lot of room for their tails.
Krista. You prob should have held your arm out straight for Pillow to land next to Pearl that way they could stand next to each other to get acquainted that way. Just saying. A great job with the birds btw!
They're both so smart and cute! I'm planing to get a parakeet tomorrow. I got the cage, toys and food all set up a few days ago. All i need is a loving parakeet.

Noticed that as they were meeting around the first half..one didnt fight off the other and they seemed curious about the other too. That was a good start and way to do it. : ) im happy they got along xD
They remind me of my budgie and cockiteal lol daisy (budgie) bosses Charlie (cockiteal) around and tries to be his best friend, and Charlie sees her more of an annoying little sister lol
Just introduced Kiwi (Cockatiel) to Pongo and Dora (Budgies) and they are fine... I've had Kiwi for 7 years and Pongo and Dora I got today (4/22/2020). Shoutout to PetSmarts 21.99 each! I played happy singing Budgies in the back ground as I clip their wings and introduced them... they are even ALL in a cage together! Which in could post a picture... Kiwi's friend Safari died a year ago so I figured some messy little Budies would liven things up. Lol. I love your setUp... a Pillow seems territorial and I believe that's the issue... pillow is probably used to only you guys and how that he knows another parrot is in the house... it's GO TIME... lol! So cutie tho! Pearl just got introduced to her annoying neighbor! LOL! THANKS FOR THE VID!

Pillow has such a chaotic energy😂😂
Awww! When my budgies met they snuggled a TON
Budgies I have my dear friend I like it dear friend
Watching 12 and a half minutes of a budgie landing in a cockatiel. A m u s i n g
About Pillow landing on Pearl, at first I think it was Pillow just trying to land on a shoulder where there wasn't room for him.
Awe Pillow is so cute makes me want a budgie.
Am I the only one who wants to make 30 fan fics about the perfect couple known as pillow and pearl?
hahaha! :)
My budgies annoy my 2 tiels so much lol I’d get pillow another budgie friend for sure, they are both super adorable though 🥰 we’ve got 6 budgies and they all love each other.
Pillow is so beautiful. The gorgeous Green budgies! The best :D
he's trying to show dominance he's the king and this is HIS castle lol but overall a good first introduction
Cockatiels like to forage on the floor of the cage so putting maybe rattle cat toys or news paper down there would make your cockatiel happy.
I Have a cockatiel & a budgie. They are the best of friends! 🦜
P.S. I think it’s funny how Pillow just wants to kiss her and breed with her and she’s just like “nope” she is not having it lol 😂
I love Pearl’s cage
Awww, I'm so happy that they're getting along so well! Pearl is just the perfect bird for pillow. A way that I used to reduce aggression between my birds at the start was putting just a sprinkle of seed out and bringing both birds to it. My birds bonded over seed together, maybe it'll work for you too! I think Pillow may want to 'mate' with Pearl xD
Pillow doesn't seem aggressive, he just seems SUPER excited to see Pearl. Pearl does get annoyed with him though. Haha, and yes, Pillow might be. xD Update video coming soon. :)
My parakeets and cockateil get along very well. One of them is like pillow.
I think Pillow wants to become mates with Pearl, but Pearl refuses as you can see in 6:55 . So I think Pillow wants attention from Pearl.
Mines named pillow too ! I have 2 Budgie Bull-bul ( Female ) Pillow ( Male ) hihihihi
I just woke up!
Oh my, what a bloodbath! :D two cuties!
pillow was so excited to have a new sister
It's like a little interceptor chasing a medium range bomber.
I once had a pet budgie "Gizmo" and a pet cockatiel "Chi Chi" live in a cage together for +9 years.
Budgies jumping on other budgies backs is a mating sign
They are so cute together!
This is why I told my mom I wanted a parrot lol...
Brenden has a long neck and it's new to show and hello bing
Pillow:HEYYYY
Pearl: (cricket sound )
Aww btw pillow is a male classic green budgie that is less than 4 month old
Simply Pachia - Good luck!
That budgie was fearless you hear me!! I'm scared of my own cockatiel (he loves me but he is extremely spoiled😌) and I'm 5 million times bigger than him
I cab tell you take care of them well 👍
Pearl: hi pillow
Pillow: hi pearl your my bestie
Pearl: aw thanks pillow
I’m watching this during quarantine ✌🏽😗
You guys are the best
I have a cockatiel name Pearl also. Ive wanted to put budgies and cockatiels together in same flight cage but im afraid they would hurt each other. You have beautiful birds. 😀❤️ Pillow is hovering like a hummingbird lol Hes very excited 😀
Noticed that as they were meeting around the first half..one didnt fight off the other and they seemed curious about the other too. That was a good start and way to do it. : ) im happy they got along xD

Haha. Cutest thing ever! Pearl is a little shy
They remind me of my budgie and cockiteal lol daisy (budgie) bosses Charlie (cockiteal) around and tries to be his best friend, and Charlie sees her more of an annoying little sister lol
Never tapped on a video so fast in my life 😂❤️
Yay! Thanks for watching and the nice comment. :)
