- I show you my top wild edibles things to forage in the Nordic regions of the world during these cold months. This foraging helps me manage the dark Norwegian winters and be more present in the changing temperatures.

In this video I go through these wild edibles:
- Yarrow (Achillea Millefolium). Ryllik, in norwegian.
- Juniper. Both berries and needles. (Juniperus communis). Einer in norwegian.
- Lingonberries. Both berries and leaves. (Vaccinium vitis-idaea). Tyttebær in norwegian.
- Spruce. (Picea abies). Gran in norwegian.
- Pine (also known as Norwegian Pine). Both bark and needles. (Pinus sylvestris). Furu in norwegian.
DISCLAIMER: foraging and consuming wild plants is at your own risk. Do your research, and use multiple trusted sources. I am not in any way a professional on this topic, and can only share my personal knowledge. I forage in Norway, and I speak mostly from my knowledge of plants in Norwegian nature. Your country might have more different types of these plants, and you might need to do more research on that. For example there are poisonous types of Pine and Juniper in other countries.
Some info about the plants (some are in Norwegian though, sorry):

Hi Maria ☺️ Just found your channel a few days ago. I'm Alina and I live in Bavaria, south Germany. I love your filming and editing 💚 Beautiful nature footage!! I also love to use wild herbs for cooking and medicine and this year I wondered what still can be found in winter - so your video came out just at the perfect time for me 😍 Thank you for sharing 💚
Hello Alina. Wow, I'm so glad the video is useful for you at this specific time, thats really the goal for me :-). Its so cool when other like minded plant nerds find their way to this channel. I think we can all learn a lot from each other. Thank you so much for your kind comment, I really appreciate it
Beautiful footage! I love winter foraging
Hello fellow forager
Det er alltid like hyggelig å finne en kommentar fra deg her inne også! Tusen takk Ditte, ordene dine varmer virkelig.
Ønsker deg også en fin uke

haha, thank you Rosina
@@Mariaandtheforest I do know the struggle myself, that's why it felt so important for me to let you know this and not only keep it to myself - you do have a beautiful & powerful voice! I love it ❤️
@@RosinaEspig Right? Its so hard working with sound! This is the thing that makes me really frustrated each time. On that note, I have always found your voice to be very nice in the videos you make as well!
Thank you so much for that
@@RosinaEspig Hallo Rosina! So schön dich hier zu sehen :-) It is so true! Sound editing is not easy. I am working on that part too, for my next video. You and Maria are doing VERY WELL!! Big hug :-) Kiri

Do you think you could make a video where you show how you use spruce and pine in food?
Absolutely! I am thinking about that for this winter. So hopefully soon if I have the time!
Beautiful cinematography! Love your video presentation style, I've subscribed :) One thing I'd suggest is getting a lapel mic for better audio if you plan on speaking to the camera like at the end again. It'll give you better audio than an external mic I think, since it's a bit more protected from the wind, and definitely better audio than the onboard camera mic.
Hi thank you for your suggestion
Hei Maria! Another beautiful video!! 💚 I can almost feel the crisby air, very nice shots!! I am still waiting for the cold in the south of Norway. I love your information about the herbs. I am using a lot of herbs, but I didn´t know that I could make tea of the leaves from lingonberry. I must try. Is it important to dry the leaves or could I use fresh? I have them in my wild garden :-) 🌿
Hei! Thank you, I'm so glad you like it
@@Mariaandtheforest Thank you for your reply. Yes, I will check it out :-) I am so exited to find more and more knowledge about the herbs :-)
