This is a powerful group because their sports are considered dignified and they usually well looked after by their parents who sacrifice hugely to get them to these competitive levels.       There were more girls. The total number of girls he abused wouldn’t be able to fit on that stage. The girls at the ESPYs are just the girls who publically came forward and testified at the trial. But there were loads more

    This comment section is tragic. Many of these women were abused as children and no one protected them. To arrive here in 2018 as functioning members of society and helping to prevent future abuse to kids is worthy of praise.

      Are you really trying to make a case against the victims? Why? Why do the victims garner more hate and criticism than Dr. Nassar in comment sections? You don't get famous from being a victim; they gained nothing but the right to face their violator by making themselves known. They did not make themselves victims. A doctor told 7 and 8 year olds he had a vagina massage treatment that would improve their health. Those 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 ,16,17, & 18 year olds are victims of sexual assault. Some were innocent victims and some were naive victims, but they are victims. When they spoke their truth in order to help others they left victim hood behind.

    You can see the astonishment and tears in many of the audience members eyes and faces as they are clapping as the never-ending line of women make their way to the stage, like they all understood the poignancy of that many women and what they endured.

    To everybody saying he was doing his job, fu. If you watched this live you would've seen how many women, ages 6-40, he abused and you would've heard it in detail. They literally explained how he would stick his fingers INSIDE and "internally fix their injuries." Mind you, he did this to girls as young as 6 years old.

      It's absolutely normal to put fingers inside of a female patients genitals during a pelvic exam or pelvic floor physical therapy. There's no other way to reach the muscles. That alone doesn't constitute abuse. He crossed a line when he started to perform this unnecessarily, as he admitted.

    To all those who say that these brave, courageous women are liars, shame on you. This is why many sexual abuse and assault survivors like myself don't come forward until for some of us months or even YEARS after the assault or abuse we received because we have always been told that we are lying or making it up. sexual abuse and assault is not a joke, it's nothing to take lightly. It's very serious, I hope that all sexual assault and abuse survivors find their strength to stand up and speak up about what happened to them. Cause as the beautiful Aly Raisman so beautifully put, we may suffer alone but we survive together. #MeToo

    Scrolling through the comments would be funny if it weren't so sad. We are at a point where being against child abuse, sexual abuse, is now a "liberal agenda" apparently.       Yes, as a big gymnastics fan myself, it too breaks my heart to know their success came with such suffering. Seeing them all together is really powerful = though again heartwrenching because of the sheer magnitude of his abuse.

    Thankfully there are still good police and members of the justice department who took this case and prosecuted that monster to the full extent of the law. Seeing the number of women on stage, who only actually represent a fraction of the likely thousands who were abused, makes me feel so sad. I am grateful that they are strong to tell their story.     I just stumbled across this. For what it's worth, all these years later, as a 60 year old man, father of a daughter, husband to a wife, I am ugly sobbing. Kudos to these brave women and the law enforcement people who finally....finally believed them. Wow.

      Laura Bourdrel I’m not really sure how Nastia fits into all this, but there are many assumptions out there Nadar did not touch Nastia for fear of her father (her coach) finding out... some people say that he knew of others being abused but there was never any proof... Nastia and Shawn have commented on the case, saying how though they weren’t abused but are praying for those who were

Clearly, you don't have a clue about the effects of sexual abuse on a person and oftentimes how hard it is to speak up.     Seeing this helped me get through my Abuse. and MILCK even personally responded to me. As a man and having to deal with Sexual Assault it is extremely hard to speak out, I got the courage to do so when I seen this. and hearing 'Quiet" really helped me find my voice again. I was silent for so long, but I love singing this song. Thank You to MILCK for making this song, And a great big Thank You to all these women and sooooo many more for speaking out. Thank You so very much!!!!!!!!

    How many years of abuse reporting on Nassar? I have also encountered abuse, and when one is not believed, it seems like a double betrayal. In my case, I told a minister expecting understanding or empathy, but got none. Don't give up. Keep telling your truth until someone believes you, and will truly help you. Stand strong. ☮️

    I can only admire and respect the courage these girls showed... The whole system was against them, the whole system tried to silence them! They, however young and fragile they were, found incredible inner strength, courage, determination to stop the abuse.       He's a gross, vile, disgusting excuse for a human being... him and all sexual predators. here's what I think should happen, lock up every single abuser in the world in a ginormus metal cage, give each abuse survivor a long hard metal baseball bat and let the survivors have "a little fun with their abusers".... now that's something I can get behind because I'd gladly have fun with my abuser by being allowed to beat the living sh*t out of him. Cause after what he did to me and the scars that are left behind he deserves a life of misery, and a slow painful death.

    My god a very close friend of mine was a part of this and she was abused!!! I can’t believe that this happened to her. I never knew what was happening and I only feel sorry that I didn’t know. There were times when I was mean to her and I had no idea what was going on behind the scenes. She was very suicidal and I had no idea, I only wish I could go back and help her.

    It is incredible to see how powerful silence can be, it is horrible to see what a man with power is capable of but it is more frightening to see how there are people who defend that monster justifying their actions because he was a doctor and I can only think of two things, those people are either sexual depressors like him and that's why they defend him or are simply idiots without a heart

    For these beautiful young ladies to stand up and say they were abused is one of the healthiest things they could have done. I am so proud of them. I hope they are getting the therapy they need. I, too, was sexually abused when I was a little girl. I had 1 yes 1 supporter who was my sister-in-law. Not my brothers, sister, mother or many other family members. Thank God I got therapy; it saved my life.

    This award presentation is extremely moving. These survivors have participated in the #MeToo movement and have been strong enough to speak out about what happened. I think that this is just the beginning of this movement and it will continue to grow. I wish it hadn't taken this case for women to finally speak up but I am glad women are coming together to stand up for themselves as well as each other!
