The TMoney or Cashbee card is one being mostly used in terms of convenience, efficiency and effectiveness. It’s a type of a pre-paid transit card perfectly suits for public transportation including bus, subway, taxi, and even convenient stores.
You can find and buy them both at subway stations and convenient stores.
    T-Money Card Homepage : www.t-money.co...
    Korea Tour Card : koreatourcard.kr/
    [DETAILS]
    1. Subway Station
First off, TMoney cards can be purchased and charged at subway stations, and tourist information centers.
    Choose a language (English)
    Press “PURCHASE” button
Browse types of cards you want to buy
    o Best Recommendations
4,000 won: Can be used as a transit card (for bus/subway/taxi) AND a stored value card at convenient stores. Besides this, you can get some benefits at National museums and Duty-free shops
3,000 won: Functions as a transit card as well as a stored value card. That it!
o Both can be used for any transportation throughout Korea
(DISCLAIMER: Only T-Money registered taxi can accept this card)
    Insert money
And lastly you need to reload it with money (DO NOT FORGET)
    2. Convenient Store
As for both TMoney and Cashbee cards, do not bother finding ticket machine at subway stations but get them at convenient stores. You can surely top it up with any amounts you wish.
Ask for TMoney or Cashbee card
Select one that you wish to buy
    o Best Recommendations
2,500 won: Same as 4,000 won-value TMoney Card. Functions as a transit card as well as a stored value card. That it! NO Fancy Design!
4,000 won: Fnuctions the same as 4,000 won cards but Fancy Design
o Both can be used for any transportation throughout Korea
(DISCLAIMER: Only T-Money registered taxi can accept this card)
Top it up with any amounts you wish
    Pay the store
Most importantly, you are gonna have to use “CASH” only for its purchase and top-ups.
    [HOW TO USE IT]
After charging your card with the desired amount, money is deducted as the card is used.
TMoney cards offer a 100 won fare discount for buses and subways,
and transfer discounts between buses and subways
To receive the transfer discount, scan your card when getting on and off the bus.
What’s important is You must scan your card when getting off the bus at your last transfer.
The transfer discount is only valid for 30 minutes between transfers.
    [NOTE]
If you wish to get your remaining money back, the amount should be greater than 20,000 won. Plus, you are gonna have to visit the TMoneyHeadquaters in Seoul. Sounds annoying

Very informative video indeed. Also, I recently happened to come across the Korea Tour Card and plan to use the same for my upcoming trip to Korea, considering the benefits it offers. Can the card be purchased at Incheon International Airport and be returned for refund at Gimhae International Airport (Busan)? Also does the reload process work similar to the reload process for a normal T Money card?
    Thanks in advance
    Cheers!!

Thanks for showing me how to purchase a metro ticket using the Korea Tour Card. It was a little confusing because you purchased a T-Money card, then showed us how to top-up using your Korea Tour Card. My question is, if I already have the KTC is it necessary to take the extra step and buy a ticket? Can't I just use the card and get through the gate?

So in Hong Kong. The octopus card can be used as a ticket itself and you just have to reload money in it. I guess the T card just acts like a credit card and you still have to purchase tickets for subway. Can I get clarification on this please?

    • @WM-eg4gh
      @WM-eg4gh Рік тому +1

In Korea there is two types of trains, express usually requires ticket and doesnt allot Tmoney card. What you saw in the video is, even if you dont use the other type of train. You can still buy a ticket instead of a T money card. Why? because some people dont really use the trains. They might just use it once and prefer not to keep hold of the card and rather just use it once and get the deposit back after.
Octopus card in HK is quite the same as in Seoul.
This video is like information purposes. How to buy a T-money and top it up, and how to buy ticket and get a deposit back after arriving at their arrival station. Ticket or not, doesn't really make much difference, you just saved more money on your T money back.

I’m pretty sure you can buy tickets for the subways but if you have a T-Money card, you just scan it and walk through to the subway, then scan it at your destination when you walk out and it takes X amount of money off your card. Just less hassle I think.
