This was one of the absolute best videos I’ve ever watched on UA-cam. Mr. Morris Reece - you made it incredible by “Just being yourself” all the way through. I was born August 1944 so I identify with all you said. I personally met Patti Page at the Convention Center in Rochester, NY. In 1983. My wife and I were invited up to her dressing room. I got to hug her and had 2 pictures taken with her with my Polaroid SX 70. Patti autographed both of them. It was a very memorable moment. She was so beautiful and she sang one of my all time favorite songs - Old Cape Cod..
"Roses are red, Violets are blue -- you have the nose of a B-52." That little ditty was recited by some fellow schoolmates back in the 1950s when I was in elementary school in southern California. The B-52 shown in this video reminded me of that.
I was two years old in 1952. Our first TV that I remember was a Hoffman. In the listing of top radio shows, you left out Arthur Godfrey's radio program. He was very popular, and could be controversial. I recall sitting in our kitchen with my mother and listening to him broadcasting from Florida. He mentioned something about how the feathers of the flamingos reminded him of "ladies' pink underwear." He could get away with stuff like that. A folksy character that people related to. And some folks found him brave and inspiring because he had survived a horrific car accident in which he broke 47 bones. After that, he suffered chronic pain, but didn't let it stop him. Later in his career, Godfrey did some rather mean stuff like firing Julius LaRosa on the air, and buzzing the control tower at Teterboro Airport in his DC3. He temporarily lost his pilots license over that, and people began changing their minds about him. They began perceiving him as arrogant and egotistical. He graduated from radio to TV, and had a variety show which featured new talent. Lipton Tea was one of the sponsors, as was Chesterfield Cigarettes. Godfrey was notoriously rude to sponsors, but they still wanted to advertise on his shows because he was such a successful salesman. He defied the racial barrier by having black talent on his program. Many folks admired him for that, though TV stations in the South refused to air those episodes. Eventually, he developed lung cancer and had to put his career on hold while he was having it treated. He underwent surgery that got rid of the cancer, but he struggled with Emphysema, and when he tried to get his career back on track, times had changed and he could no longer secure a TV show. By then, he had tarnished his reputation to the point that nobody wanted to work with him. When he died in 1983, nobody attended his funeral. A very sad and lonely outcome.
Good Day. Wonderful! My wife & I were both born in February of 1952. Beautifully presented by you, your voice & singing. The last song Jambalaya is one that I have known all my life. Nice Job. Thank You & Best Regards. We have subscribed.
Love your videos. I'm typically not a fact checker but I remember the first Holiday Inn opening in Memphis, TN. I was 11 years old and I remember (barely) my Dad and Mom shopping for an appliance at a store owned by Wallace Johnson and Mr. Johnson introducing them to Kemmons Wilson who founded the motel chain. I remember them talking about the unique sigh for Holiday Inn and my Dad and I going to see it on Summer Ave in Memphis. I like your singing also.
You are one year older than me. I live in London and it is interesting to see how many programs and things crossed "the pond". "Mad" comic was popular here, and we had the London "smog" Dragnet was shown occasionally. Birds Eye frozen peas also available
I was born in 1952 . Such an interesting & entertaining as well as informative video. I totally enjoyed every minute of it. Very nice job putting it all together as well as playing that keyboard & singing those great songs! BTW, what kind of synthesizer were you playing?
Our family had a tv because my Mom won it! Two men from Folgers coffee came to the door and she knew the symbol on the can(a sailing ship) and she had an open can of Folgers in the house. She didn’t want it as my Dad thought it was evil but they left it! We watched Beanie and Cecil and Kookla, Fran and Ollie
Do you remember “Lamb Chop?” Shari Lewis had this sock puppet on Captain Kangaroo in 1956. I just looked this up on Google because I couldn’t remember the name of the girl. Kukla, Fran and Ollie first appeared in 1947. My Mom & Dad gave us 4 kids a choice of having presents under the tree at Christmas or have a TV in the house. We wanted the TV and it came into our house before 1949.

This is the year I was born.
Nice UA-cam channel Mortimer.
Great video. Though Truman was president during all of 1952, not just the beginning.
Also, "The Honeymooners" premiered in 1955, not 1952.
I was born in July of 1952
