I graduated from high school in 1955. I remember most everything you talked about. Liked hearing you play and sing those familiar songs too. Thank you!
I was 10 in 1955 and remember Les Baxter's "Unchained Melody," I didn't know it had lyrics until I was in college, 1963. I had a roommate, John Craig, who I knew could sing quite well. In early December he held a recital, "An Afternoon With John" and of course I went. He sang several songs but the only one I remember to this day was his rendition of "Unchained Melody." He sang both verses (the Righteous Brothers only sang one verse) with such heart that I was moved to tears. John had some deep-seated problems and had to leave school several months later. I never heard from him again nor did I know what had happened to him, but I'll always remember John fondly for his great performance of that great song.
"Sixteen Tons" by Tennessee Ernie Ford is the first song I remember hearing on the radio that I realized was a "hit" song because they played it so much.
HELLO, I WAS BORN IN 1946. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH. THIS WAS SO FUN TO REMEMBER SOME OF THE THINGS POSTED. MAYBE MOST OF THEM, I REALLY APPRECIATE ALL OF THE WORK. LOVE THIS MAN PLAYING AND SINGING THE BEAUTIFUL MUSIC. HOW SAD IT IS GOING FROM THE INNOCENT DAYS OF BEING 9 YEARS TO NOW WITH SO MANY HORRIBLE THINGS. HOWEVER, HOW NICE TO FEEL SOME OF THE PEACE WE HAD THEN. WE STILL HAVE SOME BUT THE BAD IS OUTWEIGHING MUCH OF THE GOOD AT THIS TIME. I REMEMBER THIS ONE AIN'T THAT A SHAME. I HAVE AN OLDER BROTHER AND HE WAS LISTENING TO LOTS OF MUSIC. BEST WISHES
Love that whole video all the songs he played at the end I knew.. There were a few songs and afew movie I did not recognize. 1955 was the greatest year ever.. why, I was born that year. loved it.
I was 11, also. Living in Kingsland, Georgia just before my family moved north to Baltimore County in the Sparrows Point area, across the river from Bethlehem Steel, where the sky lit at night as they were pouring steel. I was in the first class (7th grade) at age 12 of the new Sparrows Point Jr. Sr. High School. Thanks for the memories.
Hi Morrie Reece, new fan and new subscriber here. I love watching videos with the old black and whites. I saw your "remembering the year 1955." I had to click on it, and now I'm hooked. I didn't think I would enjoy your favorite songs at the end, but I do. When Disneyland opened in 1955, I was 14. The week, before opening to the public, Disney opened the park to all of the construction workers. One of our neighbors was an electrician that worked on the park. for some reason he could not go, so he gave the tickets to us. We went on the third day. We met Walt Disney as he was walking through adventure land. I don't know what happened to the picture that was taken with him 😕. What a wonderful day that was. Life was really difficult back then, but it was good growing up in those years. As a youngster we didn't have a clue what was going on, outside our little circle. My dad had three rules; respect others, don't get into trouble and be home by supper. We were very poor, and my dad raised chickens and rabbets, so we had food on the table. I remember one year he brought home a turkey for thanksgiving, and it was my job to fatten him, tom, up (that's what I named him). He told me not to get fond of the turkey. We became "good" friends. He would follow me everywhere. I almost starved him, poor tom, to death. I did not have Thanksgiving dinner that year. Oh, my dad was not happy with my job on fattening up the turkey. Thanks for posting these videos. For a few minutes, it pulls you out of the present and transports you back to better times.

It was a Saturday December 10th 1955 I was 10 years old. I'll always remember because it was snowing. Love it. I hear ya knocking!
Thanks for the memories, I was born 1955. You are wonderful.
I graduated from high school in 1955. I remember most everything you talked about. Liked hearing you play and sing those familiar songs too. Thank you!
Very enjoyable show, thanks for the memories.
In 1955 I was 16 years old. I was living in a very small town where everybody knew everybody. It was an interesting time.
Thank you. I am 87 yo. Many memories from 1995 ❤️
I’m 87 too, but I think you meant 1955
I was a senior in high school in 1955. My parents saw Disneyland starting up, and they took my siblings and me to California. Wonderful time.

Second only to 1954, when I was born.
"Sixteen Tons" by Tennessee Ernie Ford is the first song I remember hearing on the radio that I realized was a "hit" song because they played it so much.
I was born in 1955 !!!!😊
I was born in 1955 and was given up for adoption, never knew my real parents, my adoptive parents were wonderful people.
You are wonderful for saying that about your parents. The ones who raised and loved you…
Born that year as well. That's why I had to check it out. So most of the stuff shown here has had a place in my life.
What a wonderful year it was in 1955, my first year of high school.
I was born then too. It's why I clicked.
You are lucky you had good people to appreciate you !! My parents never understood me or took the time to. Aloha my friend
BEST WISHES
1948
1947
LOVE your singing and playing at the end. So cool!
Thank you so much for this video. I was born in 1955 and I was aware of some of these. But most were new to me.
Sent me back in time, 9 yrs old riding in the back seat of my folks Plymouth. New car and my dad splurged on the radio option.
YES, "AM" radio rules!
I graduated from Turner High School, Turner Kansas, 1955. I’m so glad I found this , looking forward to 1956.
I was born May 12, 1955 great video!
As you are playing, I'm smiling. Thank you for sharing.
I remember 1955, like it was yesterday. But, I can't remember what the hell I did yesterday.
Sounds like me! I’m 93 1/2 yrs.👍🏻🏴🇨🇦

I was 16 years old in 1955 and I remember all of what you showed. What a wonderful time it was
Hi Morrie Reece, new fan and new subscriber here.
Nice podcast. Well done, thanks. I was lucky born in November 1955. What a wonderful year. You are also a good musician. May God bleed us all.

1955 is as classic as many of the cars and songs that year, also born in good old 1955, the Flux Capacitor (which is what made Back to the Future possible).😉 I was also born that year, thanks you really did a thorough job on this great benchmark year. 👍👍

I was born in '55 and it doesn't seem like that long ago! Lots of neat factoids and Unchained Melody sounds like it would make a dandy march tune! Thanks for the trip!
I was 17 and it was a very good year.
Enjoyed the memories as I was there with my two brothers and sister. We had a Tv, and I was just 7.
