- As you have guessed by the title of the video, many Nintendo-related add-ons have been taken down by a malicious troll and their purpose is to ruin every Gmodders' day.
You may have noticed that something is rotten in Denmark. I am talking about certain Garry's Mod workshop addons that me and @MisterPrawn uploaded a while back. It has come to our attention that they had been struck down due to an unknown assailant who does not want Nintendo-related add-ons to be there. It is not limited to Nintendo, but they also got Steam to pull some non-Nintendo-related add-ons like Pac-Man and M&Ms out of the workshop.
And it is not just me and Mister Prawn that were affected by all this, but this also includes the following were hit by an unknown copyright troll:

- Brewster T. Koopa
- RatchetMario
- LucianTheBlaziken
- LeftyGreenMario
- BabyLuigionFire
- Sinful Mario
- Pika-Robo
- JCThorton
But let's hold on for a moment. Before you make assumptions, Nintendo had nothing to do with this as they are somewhat fine with their models being ported to the source engine. But what we do know is that somebody is taking down Nintendo-related add-ons due to irrational reasons. We do not know for sure, to be honest... Perhaps that person has a strong dislike towards Nintendo? Maybe that person wants to take down add-ons to make people angry? Or perhaps somebody is pretending to be associated with Nintendo? Maybe it has something to do with the whole Palworld vs. Pokemon drama? Regardless, they are doing this just to spite Garry's Mod animators and Source FIlmmakers and their love for Nintendo.
As more details keep popping up, we might be getting close to whoever is responsible for sending these takedowns just to spite many Gmodders and Nintendo fans alike. And we all demand to ask that troll a simple question: "Why did you do this?"
We do have an alternative for add-ons. Sadly, garrysmod.org was shut down last year and I was not aware of that until recently. But DeviantArt, from what I heard, seemed to be a viable option as they let you upload zip files there as long as you have the preview image there. But I would not hold my breath just yet.
Do we have plans to re-upload the add-ons to Garry's Mod Workshop after what the troll had done? I do not know, but when this is over, we can get back to making content with the add-ons we use.
Again, this video is used as a public service to spread awareness of what is going on.

@@nightshardthefanguidebrony847 Years ago, a reanimated collab for an episode of Kirby: Right Back at 'Ya! (specifically "Cartoon Buffoon") was falsely taken down by a company called A-PAB who was impersonating Nintendo. The same company also seems to have targeted other Kirby videos on UA-cam, as well.

Hi I come from another modding community for a game named Fraymakers where we have also dealt with recent nintendo DMCAs (and from what it seems it happened aroundthe same time as the Garry mods ones), from what it seems they come from a fake Nintendo employee named Aaron Peters who has gotten non Nintendo stuff taken down like the Duoling owl, then 2 weeks later they have gotten more stuff taken down but got stopped 2 days after the devs contacted steam(?), there was a video recapping some of that happened made by someone called Into the Fray if you wanna go looking for that, but what it seems you guys are dealing with the same thing we dealt with
Now that you mention it, I and my friends have been talking about and we realized that the individual Aaron Peters has been doing this for five years! He is impersonating a Nintendo employee who takes down Nintendo-related addons to make peoples' lives miserable. And it is not just Garry's Mod, Fraymakers, certain fanart and fangames are affected by his actions.
I think this is not just a copyright troll people are dealing with, but that man over there is a criminal. Something has to be done about this.
@CrispyToast actually a funny this about this is the first guy to get copyrighted Dad is a Lawyer, but from what it seems he couldn't do anything, I'm guessing only Nintendo themselves could do something about it
But from what it seems like they best thing you could do to make this stop is get the Gmod devs to contact steam, or try to get Steam aware the DMCA's are fake

@CrispyToast if your talking about through their DMCA Email department, that won't work it is definitely run by bots, you guys would have to try to game them aware through social media like Twitter or something like that, and by this I mean your probably have to get alot of people to complain to try to get their attention

I should also mention that I was also hit by this sort of thing. I uploaded a GMod port of Kat & Ana someone did for me back in November, and it was doing just fine up until last week when I was notified that it was removed and/or banned. I tried reaching out to Valve's DMCA department through email to hopefully get it resolved, but apparently, they're asking to "provide a license for use," basically saying they can't reinstate the mod. I'm fairly certain that it's just a response from a bot, but it still kind of angers me

I noticed this a few days ago when I noticed Lucian’s Pokemon addons were missing, but I had no idea how widespread this issue really was, nor how many other people were affected. This is awful!

Man, for a troll doing this. One person must have a lot of spite and time to do a massive takedown spree on Gmodder's hard work. Honestly, this continues to prove why we can't always have nice things. The "if I'm not happy, no one should be happy" mentality.
Also, it is a good reason why I always backup files I like as a habit. In case online content gets deleted for various reasons, it is available and safe offline.
At least the Gmod Mario Characters can finally rest easy, after going through SMG4 Hell.
We must find this troll and permanently ban em before situations get even worse, to the point that they might start targeting Nintendo themselves!

Cant you just go into the workshop folder and move the files outsude of the folder so theyre permanently local and arent reliant on steam workshop?
I'm truly upset about this cause just today I lost a lot of add-ons and a lot of the were pokemon related which I am truly sad about since I make a lot of stuff in gmod with pokemon, I'm afraid I'll be losing like splatoon models soon as well cause I make most of my friends on discord with those models

@@CrispyToasti have a few friends who work on Gmod with Nintendo addons (most Splatoon related) so I should be asking then if they as well noticed this for them. I don’t want them to have their content and future projects ruined by something like this.
But I am still concerned if that will affect SFM in any moment. I have big plans and I don’t want to all throw it out for this.
