It is ridiculous to me how everyone rips the price of the Phantoms all the time. You're paying for the form factor. You will not find anything that sounds better than those things at that size. Sure, you could easily replicate that sound, and probably even get a better sound at the same price point, but you aren't doing that without taking up some serious space (probably rearranging furniture, entertainment centers, etc). Those things destroy anything similarly sized to it and can compete with other systems for the same amount of money, but have ridiculously sized speakers, woofers, etc. The cost IS justified.
I had a sonos system at work, play 5 + sub + play bar, sounded very good. Went to the devialet store and listened to one phantom gold. I can tell you that the phantom is something else… the amount of preassure this thing makes is beyond ridiculous. You most likely only need one if live in a flat. the only speaker that i heard that sounded better was the beolab 90 which costs 75.000€ and weighst over 100kg.

I like the Devialet because they tried: Instead of using archaic drivers in a resonant wooden box shaped box with tons of baffle diffraction and legacy passive crossovers, Devialet actually paid engineers to improve all of those things as well as dispersion. The Genelec 8260 is the closest thing I can think of.
He has the gold one and its 4500watts each. So thats 9000 watts from 2 speakers. But you are right for the same price you can get a klipsch 7 channel system with dolby atmos
@@stevenswall Quad 2812 or Martin Logan electrostatics, Magnepan, Revel, Triangle, Harbeth and a huge range of products available for $6000. Some of which are astonishingly accurate and good. My choice would be Quads for their transparency combined with low coloration and coherence.
@@socksumi The Quad 2912 goes from about 40hz-20khz, +/-12dB. I don't think the 2812 is going to be at all transparent or accurate. Also narrow dispersion with electrostatic or planar drivers.
The sound quality is one thing. The size is another one.. For this price you pay for the design as well! As a designer, I would say that Devialet created something special and unique on the market. It looks like a piece of art! The Sonos looks like a cheap plastic box next to the Devialet :) Btw, I have 1 piece of Devialet and I love it, and it's sounds awesome!
I prefer the Devialet phantom 100% Excellent mids and treble and extra deep bass... I also like the hifi tuning of the devialet... The sonos however, with the bass boost will excel in movies and low listening levels...
The problem with better speaker is you can't go back to your old speaker. they will sound weak to you because you heard better ones. I mean I already have started collecting money for devialet.
get a pair of Presonus Sceptre S8's and a pair of Presonus Temblor T10, they're not huge and are alot better than these overpriced pieces of crap at a third of the price

Here's the interesting thing. My wife has picked over a dozen pairs of speakers through the years and she has excellent ears but do not care about brands or technology. She just lets her ear guide her. In a smaller room, we had a pair of Devialet Gold for a quite a while. We then got a pair of Sonos Ones and Sub. I ran the 'Trueplay' for the room. The wife sat down and I had a 'blind' A/B. She picked the Sonos as being better and more natural. I then listened to the pair and she's right. So for that room, we gave up the Golds and went with Sonos. I think the Trueplay made all the difference in the world. It just sounded more natural and 'organic' for acoustic music. Of course, the Gold can go louder but it is impossible to play that loud in a smaller room. So don't write off the Sonos if you have it set up right. $1K vs $6K. Great value, that Sonos.

Had 2 play:5, but beam, sub + 2 one's outperformes play:5. But at the same time one gold phantom will outperform all of the sonos combined. My experience :)

I am a fan of both sonos and Devialet. In fact, one of the reasons I got the golds was because at the time of purchase, Sonos was not playing nice with the various eco systems I subscribed to. Sonos has since improved in this respect, and I really wish Devialet offered something similar to the Sonos room EQ, but after golds, for more than 4 years, I have not had any desire to upgrade in speakers or amps which says volumes to people who know me. The phantoms are not for everyone to by sure, I am the type of person to spend huge amounts on headphones and suitable amps while most are content with cheap headphones, but the golds checked a lot of boxes off for me when I purchased them.
The thing about pairing two phantoms are: The sound quality could be way better, more pure than actually paying big $$$ to attend a live concert. More comfort relaxing in a favorite chair too. Or kicking back in bed. 🥸
I’ll go for form factor + good sound. DEVIALET fits my bill. BTW i have a SONOS and 2 DEVIALET Gold. SONOS is great for movie and the DEVIALET for music.

The video that made me buy 2, like 1 just wasnt enough. Those room vibrations shown in the video, i believe that wouldnt of even been at 60 percent volume. Shame however about the customer service as a business, look at thier trust pilot. Also the glossy is now been phased out, They only do matt finished. Its disgusting, it looks cheaper.

Devialet has too much bass. Sonos is better for rock and classic music. Devialet will be amazing for bass oriented music. But i would rather get a version without the unnecessary cost of gold and platinum

I have same Sonos setup for TV and a pair of Phantom golds ... the point - Sonos is OK for TV, the Phantoms are for listening to music!

일단 외관이 흉칙하다. 소리가 저 가격대에 하이파이소리는 아니다. 저음이 너무 심하다. 등의 문제는 개인의 취향 차이니 보고 듣고 판단하시고 실제 사용시 문제점안을 말씀드립니다
첫번째문제점은 외관에서 센터부분을 둘러싼곳은 하드하지 않고 물렁거려 손으로 누르면 움푹 들어갈 우려가 있습니다. 손잡이도 없고 아주 무겁고 둥그러운 이제품이 미끌려 바닥에 떨어진다면..
둘째는 와이파이가 잘 잡히지 않을수 있습니다 이 제품은 와이파이 환경이 여러개인 경우 신호충돌로 못잡을수 있습니다 그래서 a/s에서는 랜선연결을 추천한다고 합니다 무선환경때문에 구입한 스피커를 스피커로 가는 랜선을 두개나 연결해야 할수도 있습니다.
세번째 스피커뒤쪽에 전원부 연결하는곳에 광케이블연결하는곳이 있는데 광케이블 연결시 좁고 깊은곳에 구멍을 만들어놓아 무거운 제품을 한사람이 보듬고 다른 한사람은 손가락으로 선을 잡고 연결이 어려워 핀셋으로 선을잡고 꼽을 정도로 짜증나게 만들어 놨습니다 빼다가 단자를 덮는 뚜겅이 쉽게 부러지기도 합니다.
네번째 이 제품은 유저동호회나 카폐를 통한 소통이 없는건같고 메뉴얼도 부실하고 사용하다 안되면 문제점을 본사에 a/s팀에 얘기해서 담당자분이 통화라도하고 자리를 비우면 상당시간을 기다려야 합니다
다섯째 제일 심각한 문제가 a/s정책입니다. 외관에 손상이 있던지 와이파이가 불량이던지 광케이블단자가 손상이던지 뭐 하나만 잘못 손상되도 a/s정책이 210만원의 리콜교환비용이 발생합니다 자기네들이 불편하게 만든 부분들 가지고 고장나거나 불편호소로 제품 교체서 a/s비용을 210만원을 감수하고 사용하고 써야합니다
그런데 그럴 정도로 극찬을 받을만한 품질의 오디오인지는 모르겠습니다 차라리 무선을 즐기시려면 b&w formation duo가 음감은 더 좋았을거라는 후회가 막급합니다.
저는 아파트 고층에서 이 제품을 던져 박살내버리고 싶은 심정입니다

Back of the speaker theres a small button, hold it and it would turn off
Devialet has too much bass. Sonos is better for rock and classic music. Devialet will be amazing for bass oriented music. But i would rather get a version without the unnecessary cost of gold and platinum
I love the Sonos the moment it begins to play.
