I was never a GM in an official game, but I've been a GM on large population private servers. And other then organizing events, and investigating bugs/exploits/reports, my main role was doing just this. Going invisible and stalking suspicious activity, and swiftly banning anyone who breaks the rules. The servers were kept clean, and it without a doubt made the experience better for everyone as a whole. It was a very entertaining task as well. Simply 3 mods let loose with this objective could make a serious impact, in just a single day, even on a server with say 20k active players. MMO's should employ more people to do just this. I'm sure many would jump at that opportunity, even at a minimum wage. Hell; I'm sure there are hundreds of people who would do it completely free.
It's really easy since it can be done from home .. so many students wants part-time jobs while they are in high school or college. in this way if they don't want to pay full salary for GM employees they can hire 5-10 part-timers for the salary of one .. with just a simple task " clean the bots". Heck .. even me would be happy to do it for just 500$ or so a month as a full time job since I'm Egyptian and life is cheap here in Egypt and I play WoW in EU servers anyway :P.
Speaking of private servers, they could also implement Hellground's Warden. It checked integrity of the files at each login and banned if anything did not match. Basically making hacks mostly unusable. Still it checked in-game players and if any of them made a lot of moves he shouldn't be able to do (like flyhack or noclip) they would've get banned too.
No. Blizzard can't handle player moderators. We can't trust them to keep the moderators in check. Warframe did something similar and it turned into blatant power abuse. @@ThatGuy-mp9og This is largely the reason they have programs and stuff that investigate cheating and botting. @@azurblueknights yes they do have programs to do that. But they really are not that effective obviously. This is because they are just like anti-virus programs. classics client is so much better, with all the updates features and better graphics and increased field of view etc etc. but the overall feel of the game and the staff are both ten times better on pservers
@@alpatr0s596 the client is a bastardized bfa engine with render distance capped at 41 yards. You can walk through blizzard some times it wont even tick and mobs can hit you through walls indefinitely if you are above them. Ive seen level 60s swim into Botanica at Tempest keep. How can you fly as a level 60? You cant.
They're so out of touch with their own game it's ridiculous
i expected so little.... but you where able to do even less. bravo
That WTF at 2:49 got me!
I remember seeing gm in ashran once
Ah, a competent GM Variant
This guy sounds like a blizzard gm slow as hell
what people dont seem to get is that bots still pay subscriptions. so its in blizzards own interest to let them be for as long as possible
Not really, if they banned them asap they would actually get more money per bot user. lets say they take under a week to reach level cap and they get banned as soon as they start their exploiting activities, blizzard gets 4 subs per month from the same player since they wont stop botting, if they just leave it be it's just 1 sub, blizzard is technically missing out on revenue by their own incompetence.
@@bersercker in theory yeah, but if they were banned really quickly botters would move on to another game as they arent able to break even in running their bots
How did he get into his instance?
Your doing the good lord's work
I did know you GM as well good on you
Blizzard GM investigates… haha good one!!
So how do the rogues go flying around in the slave pens ?
I recall having my character bug out and it froze during late Cataclysm or MoP, around that time. I tried restarting and logging out a couple times to no avail so I I opened a ticket and a GM responded eventually and after some back-and-forth it ended up fixed. Then we had a chat about the game and they even told me a joke! I don't recall the exact joke but it was some Murloc gibberish stuff. I really wish they didn't remove GMs because it made it feel like players had a direct connection to the actual owners of the game. It might seem silly to hire people to just play the game and roam around the world, but it makes such a big difference to players honestly.
can you tell me how to dress your gear the drees the id of them please and how you put them in sap sleep ?
See if i saw this sort of thing going on more often I would feel alot better or more at peace at least with the game. iv reported several bots confirmed by screenshots and still nothing but seeing this at least gives me hope lol
im wonder if they can see the gm
I don’t think there even are any in game gm’s any more…? Now the ticket system is automated and most of the responses from any “gm” seem like bots also! Lol
World of Botcraft, even the GM's have become bots
Time to go tweet this on all over blizzards pages and then retweet it til I’m banned for promoting banning bots
This literally is happening since late Cataclysm until now in the Botanica and no bans are going out
I no joke just got a shadowlands ad after the vid. I ....... I just can't -_-
I doubt Blizzard pays for GMs at this point.
My dad's name on all mmo's has been Nadabot for the last 15 years because in Guild Wars they accused him of botting saying the way he was farming was "not humanly possible".
i prefer pservers because of alot of reasons
Darrowshire launches in 6 days!
This gm just ruined the swimming contest
getting rid of in-game GMs is one of the reasons Blizz is failing, private servers are more secure than official ones, which says it all
I wish they come back
Needs to renamed: Prisoners with Jobs Pen.
I've got more fingers than in game GMs and I'm missing 2.
"somehow"
My name back in MoP was PugsareThugs and one day a WOW gm must've saw my name and sent me mail with a pug pet and a really long xhibit meme. It's sad to hear that they don't come around like that anymore :(
I gave up on wow in legion and left for good in BfA. Is this actually how bots operate? Botting wasn't bad enough yet for me to really pay attention to it so I just assumed they only camped high value farming spots around azeroth
Looks like clever game mechanics to me
I’m waiting for console version of wow
Consoleport is the addon u need.
Ive been playing console the last couple months and its the best!
Now to ban the non stop rmt on retail
its literally that easy, they just need to hire one guy to check suspicious players
It's not that easy though. They go after suspicious people, the ones players report. If 3% report someone in an hour that could be a large workload.
@@ThatGuy-mp9og This is largely the reason they have programs and stuff that investigate cheating and botting. The game simply got too big for them to effectively police every server at every hour of the day. It had less to do with not wanting to pay GMs to do this work and more to do with the sheer amount of manpower required.
@@azurblueknights yes they do have programs to do that. But they really are not that effective obviously. This is because they are just like anti-virus programs. Yes it's great and important to have it but they are only limited to KNOWN threats. If there is a new bot made with a different operating standards the program will not know what to look at or how to report it. That's why there is a need for human interaction to help with it.
@@ThatGuy-mp9og And you think that Blizzard *doesn't* have this interaction? As far as I'm aware they still have WARDEN and the team that designed it, so... the issue is that there are too many people designing bots and cheats and not enough people at Blizzard to combat them effectively. This is true for any game. As fast as Blizzard counters one singular bot or cheat two or three more simply pop up.
@@azurblueknights exactly, it's why you don't tell a kid he can't do something cause it makes them try more
this video makes me feel like im living in a dystopian future. is this the darkest timeline?
nice.
WHAT IF, a GM was following us most of the time leveling, farming etc, and we didn't have a clue?
just did /who - no one bots on my server. out of 19 i found 0 rogues. a variety of classes with plenty of what could be tanks and healers. is this only eu?
and how could i become a GM in wow to take care of those problems?
GM I'm hunter who always come to SP take some stone and maybe if some box unlocked I take it to ..
it that allowed ??
If shit like this happened for real, I might still be playing.
I’m so confused about this 😂
Gotta watch the whole Trilogy so far bro. 🤣
I bought my 1st ever epic (flyer) mount & havent even logged back in since July 3rd when I dl'd FFXIV free trial & have now bought starter pack. Never thought I'd ever leave WoW for another mmo but there is 0% I cld ever take WoW serious again. I will def log back in to play WotLK but after that, if I can get thru it, I will be back in FFXIV. There is so much to do for whatever it is you like to do. It feels endless at first. Casino's, crafting, collecting many things, properties, & on & on...... WoW died on July 3rd for me & prolly the rest of the world also. Still love your vids tho
To be honest I want to shift over to FFXIV, but I'm not quite done making content about WoW yet
@@Azamous where did you get gm powers ?
Speak for yourself. Ff14 is meh. Vanilla WoW will always be one of my favorite games of all time as it has been for the last 16 years. Good thing pservers exist.
@@蓮90 yeah i have 0 interest to share a world with millions of weebs and catgirls. its wow or nothing for me
I'm not a fan of FFXIV TBH. The aesthetics really put me off and the business model that is as predatory as WoW (having to pay sub for the game I bought).
blizz made me quit tbc, back to vanilla private servers Darrowshire here i go!!!
Darrowshire.. with its 1 year timeline?! Why rush something that could be awesome. This time next year Naxx is already out... such a shame they ruin something with so much potential due to rush mentality.
@@bilko3249 tru that timeline does suck
@@bilko3249 aye let's stretch it out instead, make it five years until naxx instead
@@Permuh Sounds good.
@@bilko3249 it was meant as a joke, but tbh I wouldn't mind hehe. Can probably play a lot more relaxed about everything, or gear up all classes in comfortable pace. I'm sticking to one class only in TBC and enjoy the normal pace tho, so each to their own!
How did he film that ?
And then I woke up :(
I remember the days when Blizzard did their job... it was nice, I miss it.
How long did it take you to get this server running
The GM cannot pick the herb
