Many yrs ago I watched my late mother-in-law making Indian fry bread and a and a large pot of brown beans. They were poor with a heritage stimming from the okla trail of tears. Her long hair neatly braded as her brown hands lovingly made dinner for her family. I asked her why she was so happy as she was smiling preparing her simple meal and without hesitation she said " because I have a pot of beans , beautiful Indian fry bread and someone I love to share it with" I have never 4got that simple message.
Nothing better than making that meal for my family. My family came on the Trail of Tears to Oklahoma too. It's one of my Dad's favorite things ever. #ChoctawProud
@@ohhh_dayum halutio cuma chunca💖 Beautiful! This was my late husband's family as well. They lived in Choctaw Oklahoma. After the sudden passing of my husband his family was never the same. It was a dark sad time for us all.
I Love BISCUITS....and life is a history trail of tears for all mankind across this world. Many people are still walking on paths of tears where they are.
@Rain-yh9ws beautiful memories. Thank you for sharing. I'm born and raised not far from where you watch this man cook and I so miss my little mama's cooking. I know a few of her meals and my family loves when my sister or I prepare one. It'll never be as amazing as hers was, but it's always good and we always remember her. I watch this man to learn meals that my kids and grandkids will remember.
@@Sherrie-fb2on I’ve got a tin roof on my porch, on my pool kitchen... I know what rain sounds like in the woods. Unless it was the sounds of panties being taken off for them mf’n biscuits.😘😘😘😘 where you from ladybug?😎😎
Made these biscuits last night! Was skeptical about the sprite and sour cream but I tell you what these are probably one of the best biscuits and super easy to make. Husband and kids loved them. Warmed them up the next day and had them with some strawberry jam ❤
I made these on a baking sheet and in an oven and these biscuits were so moist, tender and buttery. This was the first time for me making biscuits. I shared them with the neighbors and they said these were the best homemade biscuits they ever had. Great recipe!
Those look delicious. Remind me of my mom’s biscuits she used to cook in her wood cook stove that was setup in her garage. They weren’t sprite biscuits but they were thick like that. Hard to beat food cooked over a open fire, Dutch oven or wood cook stove!
You Sir are "THE MAN!" made these this morning for the fourth of July and man these are big and delicious! Family was amazed and very Happy! Thanks for sharing!
Hard to believe I ran across a friend of mine on UA-cam I haven't seen in years - we worked offshore together in the 90s. What a treat seeing him here, and I can tell it's his lovely wife filming - hello A... SO proud of you guys. Seems like just yesterday we came in from offshore Mobile Bay and went to Talladega to see a race.
I just made these, they are fantastic! I’ve used club soda in pancakes before so I realize the rationale for using the sprite. I normally make buttermilk biscuits but I love this recipe. They are super light and fluffy but you still get the tang from the sour cream as if you used buttermilk. I do use the pat and fold into thirds method, rolled the dough to 1/2 inch thick and they rose in the oven to 1.5 inches.
Best Mthrfkn biscuits in the world thanks for the share, hell I had to fight the dog for them, I usually give her a taste of what's for dinner, I left the biscuits on the stove and she kept disappearing. Well she was helping her self 🤣 she enjoyed them as much as I did thanks again and looking forward to trying more of your recipes, cabbage looks damn good so that and the cornbread is next on the list 😋
I make my mother's recipe self rising flour and whole milk......mom used fresh cows milk that had a lot of milk fat...a little lard to grease a cast iron pan and a little melted lard to brush the tops....bake at about 450 ...the old wood cook stove may have been hotter ? Until golden brown they make a big biscuit that is wonderful with fresh churned butter and fried apples.
Do you ever show the outside of your little house there? Im curious about how you built the fireplace. Id like to build me a little place to hang out in. Im a widow but I think I can do it.

Welcome to American down home cooking. Many will try to make things like this special to a certain region or state. In truth biscuits, cornbread, pinto or any dried bean, pork meat as well as greens like mustard or Polk have been staples of our country since the early settlers came here..daddy used to laugh when people called it southern or soul food...he said it's "poor folks food. Not fancy but it fills you up and stops your stomach from screaming for food." He was one of 10 kids and was born in 1935.
Everything tastes so much better cooked in cast iron and cooking outside makes it even better. I collect and restore the older cast iron cookware and I also collect the Lodge Commemorative and Advertising skillets and between the two I probably have 400 plus pieces of cast iron cookware Cook on brother Subscribe to your channel keep the videos rolling
Cast Iron bakin/cookin is the best !! Never tried m with Sprite yet But bet they'd be great along with any kinda wild meat gravy... venison, squirrel, turkey, chuck! I'm making myself hungry now😮
These taste just like my grandmothers biscuits when I grew up. I remember her putting sour cream as a ingredient but never could remember anything else. I made these in the oven and on a fire and they both turned out great. For the oven I did 25 to 30 minutes in a cast iron skillet. Always enjoy learning from the men who appreciate cooking like this, next hunting/ fishing camping trip definitely gonna make this and your cornbread as a meal with my pops. Any other recipes want to throw my way.. this 30 your old law enforcement officer would love to learn.
That's some good old country cooking there, are those what people call Cathead Biscuits? Those and some homemade tomato gravy or sausage gravy would be the bomb. Awesome job, glad I found this on Facebook.
No sir. Cat head biscuits aren’t rolled out or cut. They’re drop biscuits the size of… well.. a cats head. My grandpa used to make cat head biscuits all the time and he sure wasn’t using any fancy ingredients like sprite or sour cream. 😆

Biscuits are really a treat especially if you have homemade jam or preserves to go with them. Yummy🤤😋
Pepper jelly or white gravy with sausage (country style gravy) is my go to for biscuits
They're pretty much just what we would call a scone

You can make a decent biscuit with two ingredients only: self-rising flour and heavy cream.
You know he is truly country, cause only country folk “learn you something “ instead of teaching lol!
Realized what he said within 30secs llmaoo🤣🤣
fantastic
What's your point ?
We Southerners also say to our kid "You better get yo lesson", of which is our way of saying, "You need to listen to your teacher".
Thanks for the lesson! 😊
Tried these today and I must say they absolutely SCHMACKED!!!! as Cooking with Cajun would say, "C'est si bon!!!"

Man I miss Louisiana food. If it weren't for Katrina, I never would have left.
It sounds like the sour cream and sprite mimics buttermilk, looks good.
What temperature and time would it be in the oven?
Hi! Silly question but do I actually need a Dutch oven or can I use my cast iron skillet in my oven? I usually make my biscuits with my cast iron skillet but I don’t have a Dutch oven!
You can use a cast iron skillet but don’t use a lid inside the oven. He used a lid because it’s outside and cool air would get in.
The sprite and sour cream used in making biscuits is r really popular down here in southern Louisiana.... The Bayou State
great amazing Is it the sound of rain or the sound of fire? Anyway, great, great, great😊😊😊
