powder coating dirt bike frame - Навчання та стиль
Keep the skid plat but take a wire wheel to it and clear it up it will look like new
sounds good,thanks man!
I got a 2003 ktm 250sx and that's what I did
Just give the skid plat a clean it will be fine..
sounds good brother!
You should do a giveaway on those pegs, like clean them up and sign them?
Keep this skid plate
sounds good, thanks Benjamin!
I love these uploads! this channel has changed my life. Keep up the good work Rado got me staying Moto vated!
thank you Dave, glad you like it here! Your stuff will be shipped soon, thanks a lot for your support mate!
Music was much better this time! Good entertaining video too!👍🏽
cool, thanks brother!
You should watch Cameron niemela’s videos on how he cleans up his bikes. They all look amazing and brand new
yea, he is doing great job. I watch his videos
Alittle soda blasting and some scotch bright on the skid plate and it will look brand new...! Powder coated will blast it for you.
yea thats right, or hydroblasting maybe..
scotch brite wheel on a grinder could probably make that skid plate shine like new.....i would say keep it its under the bike anywho. Use the money else where. Good video!
sounds good Tom, thanks!
If the powder coat is so durable why not coat the skid plate and see how it stands up?
check this out
ua-cam.com/video/_EQ4ZXxJS6A/v-deo.html
If you plan to ride more on trails with it the I would get a larger skid plate
yes, I though about it.. before I had devol on my other ktm, it was bigger than this one
It would be a good idea to power coat the skid plate also. Don’t you think?
I will give it nice clean first and see .. thanks for suggestion
have the shop powder coat your skid plate, and also nice portable swamp cooler to stay fresh in the hot garage ;)
let me think about it, I might try powder coating it. Thanks! I am actually doing short review of that cooler in coming video.. its pretty "cool" addition to the garage ;)
Powder coat the skid plate a different colour to the frame, it will look great
Ps. Hello from Australia 🇦🇺
thanks Cody, I sent the frame already.. I might consider it though
If it's not broke don't fix it is what I've been told lol good advice thank you! !
Either keep it or put a cycra full protection plate on there. I just put a black one on my kx450f and it looks great!
the plastic one, right?
Dirt N Iron yes the plastic one. I think they look great
Great video! I really like this build series
thanks bro!
if you end up keeping the skid plate, you could make a video on degreasing and cleaning it up. Thanks for all the awesome videos!
thats right Joseph, good idea!
Get a scotch brite pad on that bashplate or even better use a buffing wheel and it will look brand new
sounds good Reeve!
I was waiting so much for you to make a dirt bike rebuild, that was the only thing missing on this channel.
Expect massive subscribers from now on, keep up the good work !!!
Thanks Dragos, appreciate it!
Man, hope you are right ;)
You should try an AXP skid plate.
those skid plates look good, but unfortunately they dont make them for 2004
Get a carbon fiber skid plate. It will look great. Nice job bro.
thanks David! I am not sure if they make carbon fiber for my year
That skid-plate still looks fine to me.
thanks, I think so as well!
Keep the skid plate for sure, nothing wrong with it.
sounds good, thanks!
Clean that skid plate up and have it powder coated black!
I'll clean it and see how it looks, not sure if I will powder coat.. lets see
If you haven't already powder coated maybe leave the bearing race in and replace with new once done. That way you know for certain that the area for the races won't get powder coated.
should be ok, the shop does the frames all the time
I have an aluminum skid plate on my KTM..... but I am rethinking it lately as someone mentioned that it increases side to side rigidity and makes the ride stiffer than it needs to be. I'm no frame engineer, but I do wonder.
interesting, I didnt think about that one. thanks for sharing
Is all that cleaning necessary if they’re just going to sand blast it? Also be careful because when I had a frame powder coated it covered the VIN.
I've been told it should not have any grease/oil on
Dirt N Iron thanks! I’m getting ready to rebuild my 2001 KDX220 and sending the frame off tomorrow for powder coating.
cool Chris, share some pics once you done!
Christopher Cain Yeah that is pretty common for the vin to get covered up by paint.
Christopher Cain
A Good Painter will never cover the VIN.
They usually tape it off and put the last coat or 2 on lightly. Should of told him to do it over. Ha.
Clean up the skid plate and see what it looks like ,buffet out
yea, I can try that
Id say get a new skid plate, make the entire build brand new. Itll pay off in the end. Also i think you should consider getting the engine hydroblasted. Google it. Its like a ridiculously high pressure wash that makes your engine or any other part look brand new again. Go on instagram and search gold coast hydroblasting for a good example on the results. Id say cali would have a couple of places but this aussie place seems to manly do bikes and wow it looks good. Great video!!
thanks James, I will definitely look for hydroblasting!
Hey brother, which bike did Vegas romantic purchase? He stated in his last video to ask you?
not sure I can share it :) i think he will reveal soon. I like the way you call him "romantic" hahah
What bike did Vargasromaniac get
haha, I cant say :) a good one!
Keep the old skid plate- just shine it up with sand paper👌🏼
sounds good James!
I’d clean that skid plate up and have it powder coated black
ill clean it nice and see
keep the skid plate just wire wheel it and give it a paint save some money :) or a flap disc on a grinder
sounds good Mitchel!
Hope you remember how to put it all back together lol a lot of parts
me too :)
no worries ill check some youtube tutorials !
Powder coat the skid plate as well?
not sure, i already sent frame to the shop
@@dirtniron Powder coat it bro if you haven't already
Dirt n iron = dad
3 times dad :)
I know you probably already sent it off, but the best looking ktm color is the newest orange not the pre-2015 (i beileve). Orange frame + Black Swingarm. Also do you plan on doing black wheels + orange hubs? Cant wait till this bike is done.
I think it would be same as new ktm, I plan to keep swingarm the way it is just clean and buff real nice, for the wheels I am hoping to get black rims and orange hubs, lets see how that goes!
Dirt N Iron sick. I just think a black swingarm sets it apart from everything else. Some black engine covers as well would look trick. Have a good weekend man!
I would keep it and clean it up😎
thanks Justin
replace the skid plate with carbon fiber
not sure they make one for 2004 ktm
Cases + Scotchbrite = ✨✨ or any metal for that matter
yes, thats the plan for aluminium
Dirt N Iron noooo get it priced to Vapor blast, it will be worth it, the finish looks better than origonal make it even more appealing imo.
Vapor/hydro blasting

i was looking at it already, if I find good local shop that will be reasonable, I might give it a shot.
Dirt N Iron awesome for the little time it takes why I showed a couple of vids it should be cost effective its time or labour I think the actual mix is recycled so no ongoing material use cost on average if 2min a part an hour should get allot done very cost effectively in my mind anyway lol
hey, something really cool just happened. Vapor blasting company contacted me just now, the owner is dirt bike guy, he saw my videos and want to sponsor the build with free vapor/hydro blasting services! so I will be shipping him all my aluminium parts soon. so excited! :)
GUST SPRAY IT BLACK OR ORANGE NO NEED BRAND NEW
thanks for suggestion!
Hi, can anyone give me advice on the best grit to use to remove powder coat from my cr85 frame? Thank you.
Give it away!!! lol
:)
what collor is the frame gonna be ?
ktm orange
Nice
Hey did you find your dog?
no, not yet . unfortunately
Might as well keep it. It will probably get beat up anyway lol
exactly ;)
thats his job, getting beat up!
First!
looks like it ;)
