- Weird Al performs "The Biggest Ball of Twine in Minnesota" at the Minnesota State Fair on August 27, 2019. This was a stop on his Strings Attached Tour, where he and his band were backed by a full orchestra. #MNStateFair #StringsAttachedTour
Been waiting forever to hear him finally play this here in MN. I can die happy now 😇
“My friend I have seen your twine balls, they’re puny and weak. They make me SICK!!” I crack up every single time 🤣🤣
This is wonderful. I love that hardly anyone knows about this song. As a huge UHF fan, and having the soundtrack on tape when I was a kid, this makes me very very happy. My all time fav Weird Al song. For anyone that doesn't know, this is a parody of Harry Chapin's 30,000 lbs of Bananas. Its an obscure one that many people dont know due to it being on the UHF soundtrack but not in the movie.
It's a style parody of Chapin and Gordon Lightfoot. Al wrote the song with those artists in mind and the kind of long, rambling story songs.
I was so happy that he played especially at the fair. The amazing part was for him to rattle that off, all 7 mins, no prompter, like it was nothing!
he cut out a verse
@@tamerlanenj no he didnt, He just sang a lil bit faster
@3:52 I had the privilege to see Al perform this, and my favorite memory from this concert was this verse. It was perfectly timed with the sunset that sent reds, purples, pinks and oranges, along the clouds in the sky, hence the crowds reaction. Not to mention the concert was delayed roughly a half hour due to high winds causing issues on stage lol!
It did seem pretty windy there. Hope the delay wasn't for too long.
He has such a great memory. I'm going to try to sing this on StarMaker.
Al knows epic
The Minnesota version is somehow better. Saw him sing this in Michigan last year and it was good but this is great.
Because the world’s largest twine ball is actually in Minnesota
@@hearttohartwithbri it's actually in Kansas now :(
@@Yimello no that’s a different one
@@Yimello the Kansas one may be bigger but it’s not what he was referring to
@@hearttohartwithbri Yeah I was just talking about the record itself. Although the one in MN is still the largest one made by a single person.
That was a great show!
Wonderful. Despite the silliness of the content, this song is strangely moving. Al is a genius.
Those backing singers must have been suffering by the end of the song after bobbing up and down all that time. It's really hard on the thighs and knees.
this is VERY close to where i was sitting
Thank you for posting this
IT WAS SO WINDY
I was there!!
This is amazing
