Nope he had it right the more air you give it the hotter it'll get. So open equals higher temp and closed equals lower temp.

@@jdj5952 no it's opposite on this particular grill because you can't close the bottom vents, I know because I unfortunately have one. Open top vent cools the grill. This is no weber, I have one of those also, so I know what I'm talking about.
